Taken last week in Akiba. A shop that sells bags of spare Gunpla parts! If only I knew about this shop sooner then I wouldn't have had to bother sending an order form off to Bandai asking for replacement parts by snail mail.

In the past I've broken the waist of my PG MK2, Face and fingers of my PG GP01 and some others which I forget.
Todays question is whether you have broken or lost bits of your models during assembly and what you end up doing about it. But before the polls, have a gander at the rest of the photos.

Cant remember if the name of the shop was "Parts Paradise" or whether it was just the name of the bag O parts. When you get out of Akihabara station, walk into the old building above the new Kotobukiya shop - its on the 4th floor.
If you are a Doujin person - its in the same building as Melon Books.

Spare Gunpla Parts title=

Different subject - Gunpla water decals - I need to go back to Asobit to get some. I like the way Bandai includes nasty stickers with the kit and make you pay about 500 yen more for decent ones.

Spare Gunpla Parts title=

More Shelf O Gundam shenanigans.

Spare Gunpla Parts title=

For those who love Gundam - you can say you are "Gundam Inochi" (ガンダム命(がんだむいのち))which means you devote your life to Gundam. You can stick "Inochi" on the end of a noun to say that you devote your life to X. So for example, "Moe Inochi" means that you lurve Moe.

Spare Gunpla Parts title=

Gundam Inochi!

Spare Gunpla Parts title=

Some tools for Gunpla modeling. Got myself a really nice Olfa knife.

Spare Gunpla Parts title=

A completed Freedom. I still need to make mine.

Spare Gunpla Parts title=

My booty for the day. Wing Gundam, cans of paint, some doujinshi and an illustration book by illustrator Happoubijin (八宝備仁) - he does a lot of ero stuff. Also received an MG archive with pics of all 99 MG Gundams - a small announcement inside says that they will announce the 100th MG at the Shizuoka Hobby Show (I plan on attending if I dont fall sick again ^^;)

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

If you don't have much time now, maybe subscribe to the RSS Feed, Twitter Feed or join the other readers in the FaceBook Page.
Alternatively, you may want to read more about the site.
If you are a regular reader then this message will probably annoy you each time - hide it forever.

This item was posted in the Gundam category. You can see more of everything else or subscribe via RSS instead.

Man I wish I could find a model store like that. The few Hobby shops that are near me are mostly RC stuff with little in the way of plastic model supplies. I haven't been able to find a great shop online either, found several good ones but in order to get everything I need had to order from 3 or 4 different places. I may have to end up traveling to Sacramento or San Francisco to find some that even comes close to that store.

    I could really use a trip to this shop right now, need to replace parts for my MG GPO2. It's the special paint version, so I might need to get the parts from Bandai. I can see a Ball! For some reason i want to build a Ball... ^^;

The GPO2 kit was a gift so I really want to complete it so it can be seen. I've been lucky in the past and had pen pals - before I met my fiancee - who would get replacement parts for me. Although, a few times I have put kits aside and never finish building. ^^; For broken parts, I usually repair them.

Oh man, if only we had a store even remotely similar to Gunpla heaven. My PG AEUG MkII only has one spare beam rifle E-pac due to me throwing out the pieces for the other by accident, and my Hyper Bazooka's handle just plain snapped off.

And I won't even get started on the rest of my MG's... orz

    hmmm... 私はガンダム命,けれども私の妻がいます,私は妻命です. ^^
nice gunpla parts store Danny, I've lost and broke a few gunpla parts myself. including my GP01's hands. ^^ I tried replacing them with my non grade 1/60 strike gundam's hands but to no avail. Anyway, try to get some more vitamin C to boost up the immune system. hope you don't get sick again Danny.

Whoa, i know what gunpla means too from genshiken. Thats a handy anime. Yea, people like look at my kits and like drop it by accident. Of course i get pissed but i cant do anything about it to repair it. If only it had some spare parts somewhere...

Broken many, latest victim was the HGUC Hazel, the plastic elbow joint was supposed to look better, but it was so flimsy that it broke the first moment I moved it. 20 years ago I probably would scratch build the joint, but spare time is at a premium these days, so I'll likely bury it soon. Totally staying away from these from now on.

Also disappointed that the MG are using more ABS parts and less p-cap/soft plastic for joints to supposedly strengthen the stance. It will be a big waste of money if anything on the Hi-nu broke...And please, Bandai, no unnecessary big box for those of us who have to pay shipping.

    Bitching ended.

Last thing I did was lost a couple of bits for my HG Hazel custom. Before that, the worst was breaking one of the fiddly arm pieces for my PG W-Gundam Zero Custom :( It would be nice if there were an easier way to get replacement parts!!

If I lived in Japan I would check the store out for the water decals. I messed up on mine a long time ago when I first started constructing gundams and tore up a lot of my water decals which is why some of my models aren't as good looking as they could be.

Looking at those pictures made me die a little inside =/ (no shops of that nature anywhere near Philadephia, PA)

The most common parts I have broken are two piece hands and waist parts. If the damage isn't bad I usually repair the parts myself, but I am too careful not to permanently break anything, or else I couldn't finish the kit!

I've broken and lost lots of parts. They usually get lost while I'm building the kit. Considering how I only build my gundam in my tidy room, I'm confused where all of them could have disappeared to. So far, I've ordered an extra rifle and hands from the PG strike to mod'd onto my other 1/60 models. I'm thinking about order the weapon systems from the 1/60 strike and mod them for the PG. Would be nice if we had a shop here...

oh and yeah it costs money to order parts over mail. i think it says 100 yen per part in the assembly guides. this place however sells whole bags of parts for 300 yen. but its hard to get the specific parts that you need it seems. just have to get lucky.

It's going to be very hard to get a (one) specific part from Bandai considering their all the way in Japan, I'm assuming when they manufacture their model kits and make extra trees of parts. And just send them to shops n' whatnot, best thing to do is either go to Japan and pick some up....or buy a whole 'nother kit. Which both would be a waist of time and money, so best advice is to be very careful when building/posing model kits. Don't be ashamed if you broke a part, cus it happens to everybody. We think models are action figures so we try to pose them n' whatnot like they are

Do, or anyone else, know where I can get spare Gundam parts? I screwed up painting the shield of a HG 1/100 RX-78 GP01Fb and need to get a new one. Thanks.

    Danny,

This is FH from Anime& Manga Horizon.

My brother got MG destiny and he broke a small part cause too fragile. I was wondering if I can ask u to pop over the shop and buy parts for it. I know it's troublesome and normally busy people like you dont do this. But I'd ask anyway since my bro's pretty depressed. Hope u can reply.

Hmm Does this store send parts to US? I bought a PG Strike and it was actually missing one piece (part of the cockpit door) and it is impossible to get Bandai to send a response to an email. It's been about 2 weeks since I asked them if I could purchase a new part -.-

I screwed up big time part of the waist of my Unicorn, also, its V fin is so thin that it looks almost destined to break eventually. However, I try to be extremely careful to avoid any damage to my models

I will totally RAID that store and buy so much Gunpla when I visit Japan it ain't even funny!

Typically with the models I build, I will scratchbuild a new part if something breaks. Say I snap a antannae, I will first proclaim my dissatisfaction by yelling an explitive, then I may use brass rod to replace it.

For more complicated parts, I am:

    a) screwed
    b) try to scatchbuild
    c) deal with it
    d) order new parts

Tamiya and Revell are good about getting me what I need.
