Claymore

Was not too sure about Claymore but soon discovered that I needed my weekly dose of it - especially after this weeks episode which had me shed a tear toward the end ^^;
The story revolves around the heroine named Claire who is half demon/half Youma (demon). When she was younger, she was taken and developed into this half breed in order to kill Youma (妖魔(ようま)). A Youma (pronounced 'yourmah' (no, not 'your mum')) is a demon who has a fancy for internal organs of humans. From what we have seen so far, a Youma can take the form of a human and transform into a Youma when its feeling peckish. A Youma has varying strengths but usually strong enough to split a human in two with one swing - this is the reason why 'the organization' needs a half human/half Youma to kill a Youma.
Being half human, Claire has the ability to control the Youma inside of her - she can summon the Youma strength at will but the more she uses the Youma power, the more she becomes a Youma. Claire knows that one day she will become a Youma and forget that she was ever a human - she too would go around eating the guts of humans.
This weeks episode saw Claire using up too much of her Youma strength after a battle with a huge Youma. She struggles to suppress the Youma inside from consuming her completely and asks her battle buddies to kill her while she is still sane as a human...

The swords, demons, blood spewing all over the gaff and the setting is reminiscent of the Devil May Cry series which I love - oh and the pumping rock music too.
The animation is not as fluid as I would like but the interesting story more than makes up for it. Claire is not the typical Bishojo but there is something about her that I like - could be her voice.
Claymore is on every Tuesday night at 1.26AM just after Death Note on Nippon TV.
