8:15 Man

A 38 year old known as the "8:15 Man" was arrested in Yamaoka earlier this week for charging his shoulder into other pedestrians - specifically business men. The reason why "8:15" was because he would do this at just past 8 in the morning.

The 8:15 man later said that he felt stressed when he faced other people and that he chose business men to go after...

I've personally encountered this a few times in Tokyo - some bloke would walk past and purposely hit their shoulder into me - they would then continue to do it to others as they walked on.
I walk away as I don't have the time to waste on people like this.

Has this happened to you in the past? What would you do if somebody shoulder charges you?

News via Sanyo and image of Haruka-chan who was just shoulder charged from Gelbooru.

This has happened to me, and my response was to pick my foot up and push it into the back of his knee as he passed. I was in New York at the time, and the man fell into the people in front of him.

Sometime I would do that when people exit the store using the automatic door that's supposed to be entry only. Like I don't mind if they use the entry as long as they move to the side since they're not supposed to exit that way. Kinda like someone going the wrong way in a one way street using 2 lanes...

Otherwise I wouldn't do that kind of thing on purpose. I'd move my shoulder to the side and walk sideways if I have to.

    Haven't had that happen in a while. Last time was with some Yakuza in the early 90s. They bumped me and started yelling. I started speaking English to them. I think the image of a big Japanese guy speaking fluent, unaccented English was a little startling to them. They stepped back, wide eyed, and walked off. ^^;

I don't know if the impact of speaking fluent English is still prevalent, or not...when I was there in '97, the fact that I was 6'1" was more than enough to deter most folks... ^_^

My aunt and uncle wit there youngest son in philly are moving because some nut decided to shoot a KID because he threw a snowball at him and afterwards told the kid not to be outside when he comes back with his gun...oh yeah i've nvr been shoulder barge on purpose...blk 6'3 athletic, don't need a gun, don't like them either...

Nice to see someone getting arrested for repeated offenses of this. Accidents happen but purposefully bashing into someone is rude and uncalled for. I've had a few cases of that happen to me though in bigger cities and basically just ignore it because the last thing I want to do is get into a fight with someone over something like that. Someone else will eventually teach them the lesson they deserve.

But if I'm really in a bad mood, I get kinda unpredictable.

Few months ago I shouted at lots of people in a bus because though the bus had plenty of space, people kept gathering at the exits even when they weren't leaving at the next stop.

In general, these sort of things happen all the time for me; good thing I am always listening to music while walking around, since I am more aggressive when I'm not, hence will likely to start a fight.

shoulder charging goes on here everyday - though its more of accidental kind when people loose their patience and want to walk faster than the crowd. Maybe cause of this i have really strong shoulders after being charged into almost everyday. Some guys charge and turn after impacting me, sometimes i get turned almost sideways due to the impact. Seems like fun now when others get turned sideways and i just walk on :mwuhaha: :D

When I walked away the dude passes by me and charges his shoulder against mine...

I didn't notice it was on purpose right at the time (I'm a big guy, so no matter what strenght he used, I didn't feel much ^_^), and I even said "oh, sorry" 'cause I thought we bumped into each other!

Then I looked at his face and he looked PISSED OFF! So, pretty much he was jealous or something... If he wasn't my friends boyfriend, I probably would've said something, but I just let it slip... Dude's an A**HOLE!

I've never been charged before, since I usually turn sideways to avoid people in crowds. I also just walk off if I get hit. It's not worth precious time to mess around, and I'm not trained in any martial arts; one-on-one is fine, but trolls like these usually travel in groups.

This happened to me A LOT back in junior high school. Punks would purposely put their shoulder into you to show that they're tough. Nothing really comes out of it (i.e., no fights happen), but everyone starts bracing themselves whenever they walk because they know some punk would try to knock you back.

Rage against the Machines Mosh was a killer. A girl Climbed over me and clawed my forehead - it bled.

wow! >_< I hate it when crap like that happens. I was in a mosh pit for Creed (yeah kinda odd) and i was pushed to the floor and someone came by and slammed their foot down on the area right behind my knee cap... was not fun... lets just say i left there limping -_-

What would happen if that salary man was a black belt in karate?
prepare to get your ass kicked.

It doesn't happen to me very much, because when I want to pass through a crowd I glide through it like water (or use "excuse me" a lot and push all the same).
