Anime VS American Drama

Was having an interesting conversation last night about which is more enjoyable to watch - Anime or American drama shows like Prison Break, 24, Lost etc. I thought it would be interesting to find out what you thought.
many of my gaijin fellows go on about Lost but when I caught an episode on TV, all I saw was a man setting fire to a boat and a bunch of people shouting at each other @.@.
I do watch a bit of Prison Break though as my wife loves watching it over breakfast which I enjoy too while preparing for work.
Personally, if I dont have my daily bishojo/mecha intake then I get sick quickly so living without Anime for me is a nono.
