NHK is a national TV station that is operated by money collected from citizens. Not many pay because the quality of the programs are so bad.
Looks like NHK are trying out a new strategy - showing panchira shots in the news. Hmmm, their strategy is working on me already ^^; And do I spy a cute ribbon?

I know that the BBC make UK citizens pay to watch TV (well it was like that 10 years ago - not sure about now). Do you have to pay to watch some TV in your region?

Original text from Henry below.

When a typhoon arrives in Japan, the media covers on the events of the typhoon but you get more than the weather news XDD

Those high school girls are lead to suffer during the typhoon XDD

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

If you don't have much time now, maybe subscribe to the RSS Feed, Twitter Feed or join the other readers in the FaceBook Page.

Wow. Here, someone would probably throw a fit over them corrupting children or something. XD Glad to see Japan's at least a *little* more open-minded.

Yes, here we do have to pay for some channels. The main ones like NBC, Fox, and ABC all get their funding from advertising, and can afford to broadcast on open air you pull down with an antenna, but the quality's kinda fishy a lot of the time, and that's a really limited selection--like, ten channels if you're lucky. So a lot of people pay for cable or satellite service to get additional channels and to avoid messing with antenna tuning, but even then if you want certain channels (HBO, for example), you have to pay an extra fee on top of your basic cable or satellite bill.

That depends on your package. Our cable company (Charter of Saginaw, MI) has a plan where you get one of the movie channels along with your basic digital cable (Which is a decent wad of channels. ~400, not counting movie channels) We have that one.

We do have to pay for a lot of TV over here, local channels (usually channel 1 through 20, sometimes going up to 60some, are free.) Any special channels have to be paid for, usually through a cable or satellite provider.

Is this public tv or cable/satellite type?

In the US, public tv is free but You have to pay for cable and satellite for those additional channels, and there are special channels like HBO where you have to pay extra for in addition to the cable.

Is BBC public or cable like thing in UK? Paying for public tv seems weird.

I pay for cable, technically you don't pay for regular television (antenna transmission, you don't have a tax to pay), but the are 2 public channels, that means that a part of the public money(governmental money) goes to the channel since it belongs to the government, and ho pays the taxes to the government, us. Theres no way possible to escape it, unless you don't pay you taxes.

Just for cable. Which is ironic, since I watch BBC America. Which means we're paying to see a BBC channel here, too. That, and also, the pic and the talk about BBC made me think of Michael Palin. And any distractions made me think of John Cleese.

    *shifty eyes* I mean...

Haha nice, gotta love the ribbon. Can't say I've seen cute underwear in person around here if someone has a wardrobe malfunction or bends over. It's mostly thongs when I get an eyeful. But seeing as I usually see mostly see this stuff at parties or clubs, I can see why they'd be wearing thongs instead of cute underwear.

In France you have to pay a tax of 100 euros a year to fund the public television channels, which sucks of course. Even if you don't watch it and use your TV for games, you have to pay the tax just by owning the TV (or a radio) :/

In Germany we have to pay 51 Euros per 1/4 year for Radio and TV. We have to pay the money only to support 3 TV channels(u can´t lock in order not to pay) for old geezers... no Panchira-Shots included -_-. The better TV stations are for free and there´s pay TV of course.
    Again, japanese TV = superior.
