What brought you to Danny Choo

Its been interesting reading how you discovered this site. Looks like many of you came because of the Gundam goodies a while back. Not sure if I'm going to be able to pick up the pace again on Gundam news especially that my work involves so much figures ^^;
Speaking of figures, we are going to release info for 4 figures on the English Good Smile site this week - one of them in particular will have you loosing all types of bodily fluid ^^;
Original text from bluey below.
First of all, I'd like to thank Danny for making such a great place for lovers of anime, figures and ect. to come and share that love with others in peace!
But, what brought you here?
Was it a link from Google or somewhere? Did a friend or fellow otaku inform you on this place? Or was it the you tube video we all love to watch of the dancing storm trooper?
Also, what made you want to join and stick around?
as for me:
1)lol it was the video!
2)I joined be cause i loved the atmosphere and connection all of the members and Dannychoo.com lovers had. I had to be apart of this great experience.
(BTW am I the only person that thinks that the picture up top of Danny looks like pure EPIC-ness)

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.
If you don't have much time now, maybe subscribe to the RSS Feed, Twitter Feed or join the other readers in the FaceBook Page.
Alternatively, you may want to read more about the site.
If you are a regular reader then this message will probably annoy you each time - hide it forever.

I discovered this great website just recently(this year), when I was googling about some figures. At the first and second time I stumbled at this site because of google, I just ignored it, I thought it is just a normal blog(I'm not really a blog reader) and continued searching. On the third time, I tried to read some articles and was amazed by its japan-related contents and also the figures/gundam articles. Then I tried to hang around, later I became a lurker. Then later on, I became a member because my brother encouraged me to do so(it's about posting on the new section -- member news). Now I always check dccom for any new news and goodies. ^^
Well, the thing that captivated me to stay here is the friendly environment -- both the friendly moderator(you know who ^^) and the friendly members(lol) that are not trolls. In short, a site that is also an opinion friendly. ^^

I think most people would have become members because of the environment, but what drew me to the site first, was when I first bought a gundam kit and I wanted to see everyone else's works. So I was searching through google, saw one of danny's gundams and then started looking through his other kits. I was seriously amazed at how good they looked, so that's basically what drew me to the site

Me? It was a sunny, hot afternoon when I was at college. probably freshman by that time. I was obssessed with collecting mecha prints of different kind. When I decided to search and put gundam pics, I stumbled upon this site. I dunno what fest is that but I there I saw gundams, other mechs, and KAWAII girls.....*nosebleeds*. then every time I went out to rent my time in the internet, I always look at this site whenever I have the liberty of time that is....then i saw more than this! There I saw Eroge and other funny posts. Dolphins, eyes, you name it. And there I decided to join in just to see the uncensored pics of some eroge. But then I realized...."hey! this a site that hits my spot!" A spot were I thought that I'm the only Geek/Nerd in the world feeling alone. You know, society's outcast. I don't feel alone anymore. Even if it's in the internet that is. And since then, I felt like I had another home!

Thank you Danny for a great site!
I was looking for pictures of the PG strike gundam and happened upon danny's gallery of it, then read his gunpla guide which is what got me back into gunpla. That's a few years ago now but I only became a member early this year, I was a full-time lurker before that!
I also miss the gundam stuff, I actually think that, had his site not had gundam stuff on it in the first place, I wouldn't have been interested. The same is partly true now too but I'm also quite fond of all the Japan articles and news items too =] I visit this site more than any other!
大がくせい
I don't really remember how I stumbled upon DC but I'm pretty sure it was related to figure. And like noob, I joined at first to be able to get the uncensored pic and well....after that it become rather easy to just post on it. ^^;

Came across this site like a year ago, just browsing random stuff on Japan but didn't favourite it (I know im stupid) so it wasn't till like 3 months ago or something like that extremly late at night when I accidently discovered the 'Week in Tokyo' articles that I found out what an amazing place it is (The community is awesome, it's nice to now people share the same passions etc... as me) I lose hours on this site everyday, if I had a job (Unemployed right now *sob*) i'd probably be fired lol
It's my favourite place to visit on the internet that is for sure.

I find this site almost a year ago (give or take a month). Found it through his Gundam-building article - which is funny, because I don't even really have interest in gunpla. I was just bored and clicked a couple of successive links. Found Danny's sense of humour amusing, moved on to the Japanese sections of the site. My interest in figures solely stems from all the reviews and photos that I found during that time.
Joined a couple weeks later, when I wanted to see the uncensored version of...was it Fauna? I don't remember. ^^; Eventually found out how nice everyone was, and that made me stay for good.

It was most likely looking up Gunpla back in 2006-2007 maybe? Probably after I saw a bit of Keroro Gunsou or something. :P I was always too afraid to join the site though, because I thought it was a tight knit gundam and modeling community... ;;;<.< Boy was I wrong. I kept coming back for Danny's Japanese lessons so I could teach my girlfriend more fun things to yell out loud when she visits her family in Japan. XD Oh it was fun... No wait, I think I remember looking up costuming... It was the suit! I remember, now! I googled Stormtrooper armor mods and found the site! XD And then I stayed for the other reasons... Wow that was ages ago... That's it for me, it was his armor mod posts.

I remember searching in google for a Nirvash model from Eureka 7 and DC.com came up on the first page. There was an article about it with awesome pictures. It was back when there was no orange on the site. How long ago is that? It musn't be that long.
I didn't think anything of it, I thought it a normal blog but for some reason I came back. Random google searches brought me here. I always checked an article then looked at the bottom of the page for other articles to read. I'd be here for hours reading articles. I don't remember signing up... It just happened one day.
Now DC is responsible for my likeness in figures, 2D girls and 3D pantsu weekly pics.

Sometime in 2006- 2007 I was bemoaning the fact that I was missing yet another Comiket, and after surfing Comiket related stuff I got linked to a Doujin or Comiket article by Danny. It might be this one http://www.dannychoo.com/adp/eng/713/C71+-+Doujinshi.html or even this http://www.dannychoo.com/adp/eng/1051/Comiket.html if my sense of time is really off, late 2007 seems a bit late and I think I remember Danny's name and distinctive page style from a while back..
Bookmarked site, came back earlier this year while I was personally on a bit of a downer, was surprised that the site's comments and general atmosphere were actually friendlier than usual, which cheered me up and made me start visiting the site. About 1.5 months ago I finally made an account, quite possibly to get around some uncensored shots on some doujin/eroge article ^_^

I've been reading the page for almost 3 years now, but I didn't actually register an account till I was sitting at my hotel in Fukuoka looking up information on places to visit from Danny's site. I guess I've seen so many fan websites come and go over the years that I didn't have overwhelming confidence in this one till I had been reading it for 2 years and realized it's just getting bigger and better!
So that morning while waiting for my roomate to drag is lazy bum out of bed so we could go sight seeing. I registered an account finally :D Lately I find myself eye'ing Danny's RSS more than ANN's lol.

I was randomly surfing around on youtube looking for ineteresting videos when I noticed your Storm trooper videos. I watched a few of them before I noticed Mirai (the background on youtube) and then I was like MUST HAVE HIGH RES VERSION O_O!! I clicked on the link but instead of trying to find the image I started reading the articles and exploring the site, and that's basically how I found this amazing site that I have been lurking on for nearly 6 months now ^__^
I'm not exactly sure how I stumbled across DannyChoo, as it was around the year 2005, so I can't really remember that far back, orz ^^; but the Gundams are what piqued my interest at first and since then I've been following DC.

late coming up on this for the umpteen time hmph
well came upon dc.com from the rss feeds over at antenna animeblogger. i tell ya rss feeds are the best thing ever to happen to the internet. no more opening up 20 tabs at once to check out all my favourite sites...
as for what i come here regularly for..well initially it was for the anime and otaku stuff, but as danny expanded his coverage to all things japanese, i grew immensely fascinated and intrigued. As time went on, I became interested in the guy behind the site, danny and his daily endeavours in the land of the rising sun. Coming from a modest background, travelling overseas has never been an option.
So for now, dc.com is my window into the world of japan. sob sob .
fret now though, as long as i study hard and get my degree, japan will be my first stop!

2. Daily life living in Japan
3. Insight on Japanese Culture
4. Japanese News
5. Anime News
6. Quirky/funny items

I actually ended up here by a recommendation from a friend; in the 10th grade I was looking for anime blogs to help increase my knowledge on otaku culture (for some reason or another), and I was told to come here. Needless to say, I've been around ever since ^^
I believe i was doing a Google search for information about living in Japan or at least visiting. Found Danny's articles describing his own adventures, and that sparked enough interest to start reading regularly. That was around summer of 2007, my figure interests really took hold that fall, and by winter i decided to register!

I don't remember that clearly, but I think I got here from searching up IGPX. LOL. The show had started airing in America, so I was looking around the web for neat stuff. I remember seeing your post with pictures of these cool models of the Team Satomi mechs. Then I started browsing around at your figure reviews, photos from japan and stuff, and have tried to visit regularly since then. I've always been a figure and doll fan, but I never kept track of news or events like wonder festival, so that was cool to learn about.

It was my husband who found the site while doing research for a trip to Japan. It was in the spring of 2007. Also, at the anime expo of the same year (in Long Beach, CA) we got a flyer with your website listed. That's when I became a frequent reader (But I was too lazy to sign up back then lol)
I showed up here when someone posted a link on a message board with your coverage of some convention with all the photos of mecha model kits. And every once in awhile I'd see another link that would end up at one of your con coverages. Eventually I decided to wander around the site and then saw the pics yo had posted from your trip to Malaysia. That intrigued me as I'm born in Malaysia but haven't been back to Asia since '92. I really became frequent after I was looking at the photos of the places you've lived in. Though I don't post regularly, I do check this place out daily now.

I first found dannychoo.com a good couple of years ago, while researching for a lecture I was going to give on certain aspects of Japanese content. For a time I lived and breathed such articles, even before you got into the thrust of your week in Japan articles. I came for that reason, but I stay and registered because the whole site is actually a pretty good slice of life in itself.
Recently I have been impressed in a subtle change to the context of some of the slice of life articles - society itself, and some of your recent articles must have really helped motivate some of your dc.com users in a really positive light, which is something I never expected from a blog of this type - Despite your growing scale you still genuinely seem to care about your community (and not solely for economic gain) which is always refreshing and keeps me coming back. It is this depth that is getting you more coverage in the media not just your knowledge of the sector. Keep up all the good work!

I think first I just came here from time to time, because it was linked or mentioned at some anime blog I read ^^° and then at some point I decided to bookmark, and that was it. I'm still more of a lurker though.

I can't remember exactly when I first stumbled across this site, but it was quite some time back when the site had that octagonal (or was it a hexagonal?) orange/white pattern. A buddy of mine had linked me to your coverage of an event with tons of awesome mecha and other anime figurines and I got hooked and ended up randomly browsing for a few hours. I also found the stormtrooper vids to be really entertaining and ever since then I would randomly lurk around reading articles on the site. It wasn't until a few days ago, when I saw that broadcast about you on CNN, that I actually registered on the site though. Ironically, my buddy who first linked me to the site years ago is still a lurker.

It's actually kinda funny. I found this site when I was searching for star wars avatars and I saw in google a pixelated image of darth vader and it linked here. I love those pixelated avatars you were using way back then. Star Wars, Gundams, SF and etc. heheh! Then I browsed around and I saw you wrote articles about life in japan and it got me hooked. I started reading way before you even transferred to microsoft but was just a lurker back then. :D This site sure has changed drastically over the years. ^^

For me, I Stumbled upon this site, more specifically one of the Tokyo Walk blogs. I normally don't read everything that I Stumble upon, but I chose to read this, and what a great decision it was! I then read more and more of your articles and older blog posts and it really hit the right string for me so to say. Suffice it to say, I come back daily now.

Aha, if you wondered what brought me here, there's some reason that I have.
First encounter to here is when I was image searching for some stuff, mostly seeking about figures.
In one of those sites, I see this site in between those images.
At first, I have not much interest, and just browsing around to see what does this site have.
Just like that. And sometimes, I bump on to this site and looking around again for awhile.
And then, it turns out my busy times brought me to forgot this site.
Until quite recently, when I was looking around for Dygenguard pics, I find this site back, and take almost the whole day looking around. In the end, I decide to join in^^

I think I saw danny first on a youtube video from Tokyo eye about a year ago. I found the web site interesting and kept on checking it out, but I did not join until a few weeks ago. I got tired of other blogs and forums (-_-) too many fanboys fighting each other.

A friend told me about the site and after that I saw awesomeness in youtube :D

Me: hey dude check this youtube video out its kinda funny *gives a video of a Stormtrooper thrusting to music*
Friend: that was lame >_> I'll show you the true Stormtrooper *gives video of Tokyo Dance Trooper in Shibuya*
Me: Dude! that guy is epic! O_O *goes and listens to Ai no Corida like 100 times*
week later.
Friend: hey dude have you seen the Dancing Stormtrooper Youtube profile? ^o^ he has a cute Anime girl in his background.
Me: really? let me see *looks* dude! that girl is cute o_o wonder what anime she's from. who knew Dance Trooper was actually into Anime. he has a website it seems. O_O
and then it was like walking into a unknown world, i didn't know what a Figure was, i wasn't into Gundam, i didn't even know what an Otaku was. but as i read around i learned of the world around me, people from all over the world gathered who share the same interests. and like any RPG gamer would do in a new unknown place, i explored! i searched this site for a good 20 mins and decided to sign up.
since i joined the site i have learned many things. i learned the difference between Figma/Nendo/PVC, i learned what Otaku meant and found out i was an Otaku, i Learned words like Moe, Ecchi, Oppai, and all different kinds of ways to say Pantsu, I learned that dolls were epic ^_^. Most of all i learned that no matter where we are in the world or what kind of life we have lead, Otaku's can relate with each other. I started learning Japanese because i came here and started to love Japan.

I was surfing at teseyecandy.co.uk, an TES 4: Oblivion modding community. I tripped on a armor/clothing mod request for the game. The reference pictures for the clothing was a picture of a figure. I thought that it looked cool and decided to look for more figure picture, then i googled for them and got a link to DC.com. At first I only checked the figure posts, but soon afterwards i realised that the site wasn't only about figures but also about Japan. I had been interested in Japansese culture for quite a few years and decided to read some of the weekly articles. After that I have been a regular in here.

Discovered the site on November 2008. As far as I remember, the site was linked to blog post I was reading about Gundams (or was it about stormtroopers?). The first thought I had was that, DC might be just 'another Japanese pop culture' blog, but I was wrong. It has a great community, interesting articles, and interesting people; it never got me bored.

I discovered Danny Choo through the links on Chun's website. Chun used to provide illustration for the anime section of a local chinese newspaper in singapore, so when they announced that she would quit doing so I naturally visited her webiste to take a look and then that's where I gone on to Danny Choo.
