Mikuru Asahina title=

Sorry to have kept you waiting – the weather has been a bit lousy and I really wanted to take these pics outdoors.
So here she is! Mikuru-chan. Cute or what?
Mikuru herself looks a tad different to the pre-release photos that we’ve seen. She kinda looks like she has a fever or something looking at her reddish skin (which you may not really notice in these photos). Her panchu (Japanese for erm... “underwear”) seem kinda silky which looks a bit odd.
What I didn’t expect was the “Cast Off” feature but her panchu looks odd anyway so her skirt stays on. The box is durable(ish) plastic which means I will be keeping it for other uses.
Not too sure about the legs – maybe a bit tooo long?
Overall a cute figure but does not quite capture the cuteness that we are used to seeing in the anime.
Have a look for this figure on the following sites.

BTW, If you want wallpaper of any of these photos, let me know and I will stick it in the wallpaper pool

I don't know. She doesn't exactly look like her. There's something about the face that doesn't seem right to our Mikuru-chan... but I of course would still call her Asahina-san. :P

Nice figure, but i dont think she looks like Mikuru. She looks a bit more generic and lacks her cute, doe-eyed features somewhat. I also think her skirt is too short for a maid style costume and her legs look a bit more lanky than sexy.

Havent you got the Mikuru bunny? She looks a lot more like her i think.

Im surprised about the 'cast off'-ness! It seems every figure worth its salt these days has a removeable skirt for all the pervs to play with!

That's a weird lump. It sort of looks like her, but not close enough I guess. To me her legs are too skinny.

She does look somewhat lanky. It's those legs... No no, I can see the reddish skin tone too. In the end, the figure leaves me with the impression that the modeler was trying to capture Mikuru-chan personality. Just didn't seem to come out right, though. In the end, not really that bad of a figure.

i just got mine today in the mail ^_^ very excited considering i had it on preorder since the day u posted about it. i did not expect the cast off feature at all, and it seems kinda tacked-on and fairly unnecessary, but its still good. the figure might be based off illustrations in the light novels rather than the anime (her mouth still looks strange from certain angles tho), thats y she looks fairly different. nevertheless, i am a huge mikuru fan and i think its still a very cute figure and well worth the wait. :D thx for the review danny, always a pleasure to read ur thoughts on these.

P.S. some winchan pics for the wallpaper tool would be nice.

I always love seeing your scenery in your photography. It's quite inspiring. Unfortunately, it's a little snowy where I am, and salt is all over. So the snow isn't even clean looking!

I suppose she bears the semblance of Mikuru, but she looks a little too mature to resemble her fully.

    Mikuru from the future?
She doesn't look much like the one in the anime (especially on a close-up view), but the result is somehow good.
I don't like the way they made her mouth though...

That makes me think that I should watch the rest of the anime in a near future... When I complete all those bothersome school assignments.

Ah, a Mikuru Asahina figure. There are a few things wrong with it. Cast off feature was really unexpected alright; all for the service of fans though, right? (I think it should've been pink, too, if you y'know what I'm referencing to. ;D) Long legs just doesn't capture the usual busty-loli-moe Mikuru many know, I guess. An eyebrow was painted onto the hair, so the natural look can't be achieved. Kinda awkward from different angles. (Sorta like she's related with Kunikada, all of sudden? ... Maybe not.) The shine is also done on the hair, so the natural look for your pictures have been (what's a good word) voided(?). She looks good from certain angles. As usual, my favorite part of your photos, you caught a great looking day for the shoot. A few shots you got made the awkwardness fit into place. Great going, DC.

This figure doesn't really capture the Mikuru-ru-run from the anime. Too many bad qualities. And the longer legs doesn't suit her.

This Mikuru figure looks cheesy. The mouth looks awkward and it's weird how there's a line on her front hair to show her left eyebrow. Then there's the lack of any sculpting on her legs. Weak. In defence of her, one of Kaiyodo's trademark features on their figures are long legs, so...

It's always annoying when the actual figures differ from the pre-released or prototype photos. Toys Planning, Kaiyodo, and Max Factory's Shining Tears lineup (from my experince) are guilty of this.

I'm gonna get the US version of Mikuru which will be cheaper than the Japanese version and it will come in about the same box. I think it's funny that the US version will be cheaper. The US version will cost about €20 euros/$28 USD/3157 yen. :D

I think this figure was made to look more like Itou Noiji's original design rather than look like the design from the anime. It certainly looks more like Itou Noiji's illustrations.

I just noticed people mentioned this before me. I ctrl+f'd Itou, Noiji and designs but never did I think to search for "novel." Why can't people refer to illustrators by their names...

This one look OK to me, but I hope that Max Factory will producing a better figurine of Mikuru, one that is very close to Noiji Itoh her style. Just like the Haruhi and coming Yuki figurine they are producing.

Over the weekend, I was at a convention where I picked this up. But I can't figure out how to get the skirt off. I got the bow and one leg off, but I'm afraid I might break the other leg if I try too hard. How can I get the skirt off?

    >< I managed to purchase all of MaxFactory's <Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu> 1/8 Size figures EXCEPT the Mikuru Asahina one!

Apparently they're not making new ones and I couldn't find any even after spending two days hunting down almost every other shop in Akiba and Nakano Broadway.

I know they're making a new one that will be due in 2008 August.. but still, I want my Mikuru! ><

Anyone out there can help? Or perhaps be so kind to...point to a direction where I can acquire her...

    lol.

The reddish skina and non-haruhi style eyes take her away from looking like straight from the Anime. But I'd buy her if she was cheap enough, I really like the maid outfit she wears ~

Thanks for the great photos. Can someone share opinion about this Mikuru quality? I have Maid and Gothic Mikuru version, and I'm not too satisfied with their material. But I must say that the figure is quite tempting.
