Death Note

For those who dont know, Death Note originally started out as manga back in 2004 (I think) and then made its way to being an Anime series and then onto the big screen.
The story revolves around a young chap called Light Yagami who chances upon a notebook known as "Death Note". Anybody whose name is written in the notebook dies. Light decides that he would write names of criminals in the notebook and rid the world of evil. The default method of dying is a heart attack unless otherwise specified in the notebook. When criminals around the world start to drop like flies by a heart attack, the boys in blue start to think something fishy is going on...
I love the Anime and recommend you have a peek to see if its your cuppa tea at YouTube. Some of the results are clips form the live action films.
Was just looking through the Japanese wikipedia for Death Note and see that one can buy the Death Note from stationers in China. The book lists the full rules and apparently people buy it for stress relief by writing names in it of people they hate!
I needed a higher daily dose of Death Note and went out to buy the whole set of Manga. I dont get much time to read these days and have made a point of getting back to reading more - starting with manga.
I dont know if I mentioned it before but I picked up a lot of my Japanese through reading manga titles like Ranma, Crayon Shin Chan and City Hunter. Reading Manga is a great way to pick up colloquial Japanese. Its different from watching Anime as you can learn the kanji at the same time.
