Otakurls
Ended up staying at home for most of the holidays to bring you a new feature - Otakurls. Took me three days longer than expected but managed to beef up my programming skills a wee bit in the process.
Otakurls is a place for us otaku to share the latest (Japanese) Otaku news. Otakurls is made up from the words OTAKu and URLs - OTAKURLS ^^;
Registered members submits otaku news/information - members communicate to each other about those items.
Below is the help contents which will be linked to from the Otakurl pages. Do let me know if you spot any bugs. Hope you enjoy.
Before I forget, the CSS for Otakurls looks crap in IE - gaps appear everywhere for no reason at all. Ah wait - the reason is because IE does not follow CSS standards. Otakurls looks decent in FF. #w#1,2,Otakurl Help#w# Otakurl is a community feature for otaku everywhere to share otaku news and useful links.
I think most of you are here because you enjoy Japanese otaku culture which is the reason why I would like to keep submitted Otakurls limited to a few categories which are...
And you can see all categories under Everything.You can submit Otakurls for your own site too if you think its useful for the community.
You wrote a review of a cool anime that you think the rest should know about? Otakurl it!
Found some Gundam or figure news? Otakurl it!
Found pics of some scrumptious Idol? Otakurl it!
Found some useful tips on getting round Japan? Otakurl it!
You need to have a dannychoo.com account to submit an Otakurl or to comment. There are links at the top of each page that allow you to register or login.
On each of the category pages, you will see a submitted Otakurls, the description and a mini signature of the submitter.
When you click on "view comments" under each Otakurl, you will be taken to the detail page for that Otakurl where you can see or start a thread of comments. I've made it so that you can respond to other peoples comments - but for simplicity, I've only made it so that you can respond to a comment of the Otakurl itself.
If you are logged in and go to add an Otakurl, you will see a form where you can fill in the URL, Page Title, Description and choose a category. The URL must start with a "http://", "ftp://" or "https://". The URL will be validated to see if the URL is not dead. As soon as you have made a submission, the Otakurl appears on the top index page of dannychoo.com and the top index page of Otakurls.
I have prepared a bookmarklet for you below to make things a wee bit easier. Drag the link below to the bookmarks toolbar of your browser - if you are using IE, you may have to right click on the link and add the link manually. Once you have done that, you will have a link on your toolbar titled "Otakurl it!" just like the image below.
Drag this link: Otakurl it! up to your Bookmarks Toolbar.
If you are shy about submitting your own stuff, you can always stick the following link on your site or under each blog post. If somebody likes it, they will submit it for you.
Copy the following code to your site/blog posts.
If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.
If you don't have much time now, maybe subscribe to the RSS Feed, Twitter Feed or join the other readers in the FaceBook Page.
Alternatively, you may want to read more about the site.
If you are a regular reader then this message will probably annoy you each time - hide it forever.

There is links to more pages of OtakUrls than there really is, for example 3 pages of links when there is only one. (I'm talking about the 'next page' button at the bottom of each page, if my english wasn't clear enought)

I submitted a bunch of mine, but it appears NinjaScience beet me to a couple of em. Perhaps you could code in something that would prevent you from submitting a URL thats already been submitted. :P
