These pair of eyes belong to Marin-chan from the pachinko game Umi Monogatari - an immensely popular title where you can see her swim and bounce about as you watch those ball bearings fall.
Have you tried Pachinko? I've tried it about 15 years ago and have always been meaning to check it out as there are now many non smoking pachinko parlors.
Umi Monogatari in action below. And if you dont know what pachinko is > Pachinko

I've always been intimidated by pachinko parlours during my visits. You dont want to just go in & gawp as that would be rude but I wouldnt know what to do. Besides I used to have a gambling problen so wouldnt take the chance.

A local anime/comic book store has a Lord of the Rings Pachinko machine that you can play with (not sure if you have to pay or not) but you can't win anything because of the Idaho gaming law. It was pretty fun when I tried it out at their grand opening (at that time it was free)

tried a bit while in Japan, should have just used the money to buy goodies at akiba instead. ^^ would have probably had better luck on those gashapon ball dispensers. ^^

Never tried Pachinko, although I did spend some time outside the parlors gaping inside.

If you're doing well, the game dispenses some of those ball bearings back at you. You save them in a receptacle and can "trade" them at the parlor, or sometimes a somewhat hidden trade station just around the corner from the parlor, for prizes/goods/money to get around the gambling laws.

Er, you put the ball bearing into a machine that gives you a ticket of some kind, wasn't implying you actually need to lug the multiple crates of balls to the counter ;P

Pink dolphin is kinda stiff... :P
I haven't tried Danny.. the noise was too unbearable!

Nah, just didn't have the courage... besides, the only opportunity I had to take a look, I was kinda alone. And since I dunno japanese, didn't even bother trying to see how things worked. I just entered and took a look inside just to see how noisy it was.

Some 3 blocks near the hotel we stayed, there was this huge pachinko... once, we had to wake up early to go visit... Yokohama if I'm not mistaken... around 7 in the morning there was already a line in front of the pachinko... in the middle of the week. o_O

I actually love pachinko. And at one point, I'd have even bought one that was either based on Neon Genesis Evangelion or Lupin the 3rd. (One I had seen on sale at Jungle in Little Tokyo (Los Angeles), the other was at a shop in another part of Little Tokyo... but was not sure if it was for sale.)

These days, I am wondering if there is a Keroro Gunso pachinko machine. (The anime is one of my top fave, but cannot get myself to enjoy the manga... thanks to Tokyopop's "editorial decisions/changes".) Because I'd like to have one of those as part of my collection. X3

I bought my wife an imported Star Wars pachinko machine for x-mas last year. I'm pretty impressed because the last one I really played with had a few blinky lights and an old spring loaded launcher.

I really wished that I understood Japanese after hooked set it up for her because it kept saying something about being "sorry" but I had no idea what was going on.

After half an hour I finally realized that the channel to the 'winnings' tray was blocked. It started spitting out balls into the 'pay out' tray for five minutes which wouldn't be a big deal but I only bought 200 balls for it and apparently my wife won 1000 so I had to keep 'restocking' the top tray. =p
