Figure and Gundam Space

As you can see, the figures are slowly taking over the Gundam shelves. Until We get a bigger place to live, I'm going to have to continue to prioritize which figures/Gundams get to stick around.
At the moment there are so many figures that I want around that I even have some in the toilet by the window sill ^^;

What do you do when you run out of shelves or display space for your figures or Gundams? Put them back in the box/storage, sell/give them away? Or do you start to buy less?

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

    I've actually been buying less. Though when a particularly good figure comes along, I still cave and make the purchase. I've just been putting figures in spots that aren't my normal figure locations...

    Me will put back into box. But apply to gunpla only, coz they can be lump up together w/out worrying about whether the paint will stick to others (coz almost all of my gunpla are not fully painted)

    I'm currently tackling this problem. I just got 4 new figures and I've completely run out of space, so I've started sticking some of my smaller/Gashapon/shokugan stuff in storage. I'm actually heading back to finish up school starting in January, so I guess the buying less thing comes into play somewhat too. And then hopefully I'll end up in Japan afterwards and then have and endless glut of figures. ^^;

    Oh Danny, dont let the gundams be run off by cute little girls. Most of my stuff (mecha) have rotation. I keep key figures out for a while then when I get tired of looking at them I put them back in there boxes and bring out a new batch. I call it retirement. Certain figures go into temporary retirement. Until there time comes around again to be put back on the shelf. My Soul of Chogokins fight with Gundam Fix for shelf space. Its a war that will go on for years to come!!

    For those Nendoroids at the bottom, you could potentially place them closer together. Just that could yield one more slot. Or try a V or U formation to squeeze some space out of the shelf... I can only see it working for things similar to Nendoroids though...

    You can build storage areas into your furniture... or furniture from your storage areas. First furniture out of the dorms was a desk of flattened cardboard boxes on top of several stands of milk crates. Only cost me a few askance glances on the bus. Mom almost cried when she saw it though.

    You could probably use deeper and wider shelves to double up, but be careful of how much load the mounting brackets can hold.

    Well since I'm running out of room at the top of my desk, I'd have to rearrange them to optimize the space since some of them are really big. But then I can always buy some cheap figurine shelves and cases from places like Ikea since it's really cheap.

    I should do that before I get my next figurine purchase... I'm expecting a huge order to come in since there delays at my local figurine store -.- (P.S. I live a city in Alberta where getting these things w/o using internet can be tough)

    I only really just got into figures this year, so this issue's pretty distant for me, but I fear it, and it's a big reason I'm trying really hard to stick to just Figmas. That, and space right now is at a premium, what with having two roommates and all.

    In the future when I get a place of my own, though, I now in my heart they're going to just sort of be part of the décor. Anyplace where people normally put candleholders and Pier 1 vases, I'm going to have Figmas, figures, and random stuff I've made kind of floating about. I can even see me using some of the showier figures as centerpieces at the dinner table. XD It'll be pretty much otaku décor.

    well hypothetically if i ever caved in and finally decided to start buying figures... in the event that i run out of space to neatly display my figures, id start a massive mosh pit of figures and have them pretty much on top of each other

    I think after you have a number of figures,
    displaying them becomes an issue !!
    *btw* I really like the glass platforms !!

    T.T its nice to showcase the figures, but it gets a little uneasy if you saturate a room with them T.T
    good thing in my country, space isn't the most expensive thing Xp hahahahahaah

    I'm planning on buying a shelf soon, since my bedside table (where I keep my current collection) isn't enough.

    I have my MS on a small table to my side whenever I use the computer in the living room. Sine I'm very afraid of them falling to the ground, I put them close to the wall, which means that only the newest MS gets to show off. For now it's the Savior. :P

    well before buying some new ones, I'll buy some "do it yourself" hanging cabinet kits. But If there's no space for my new ones,I'll stop buying and will start looking for new place to put all my treasures (my collections..teehee). I don't sell my collections. Doing that will spoil the sentimental value of my collections. The feeling when I first bought that item, it's really meaning to me.

    And this is a problem, how?

    my gunplas are all currently hidden inside my cupboard top, can't do much about it since it's left behind by the previous owner and to make it worse, it's custom made and pretty much a huge chore to dismantle it. I hope to get a wall-mounted display shelves in the future, rather than a standing glass display standalone shelf/cabinet, too much wastage on the bottom since u can't see much when it's down.
