PS3 Bugs

First up. You may (or may not) have heard already but Sony decided that they would keep the tradition by releasing the first lot of PS3’s with bugs in it.
The PS3 has been marketed as a machine that can also play PS2 games but apparently 200 games are not compatible with the PS3. Not big deal until you hear what an official bod from Sony had to say…
There are between 8 to 9 thousand PS and PS2 games combined. The problems only happen to a handful of games and if one can ignore the trivial stuff like no game music then some folks probably wont mind (!)
This is so typical of Sony and they came out with the same poo in 2004 when they said that it was normal for UMD disks to suddenly eject from PSP units. They said the same about the buttons that didn’t work too.
Sony have set up a site so that you can search for what games don’t work on the PS3 - read the whole story at ZDNET Japan.
Second up is bad news – turns out through reading reviews that the Gundam game is crap. Some say cool graphics, crap game play while others say crap graphics *and* gameplay.
Third is about the PS3’s being sold for 10,000,000,000 yen (84 million USD) on Yahoo auction Japan. The reason is that a group of folks on 2ch decided to gang up on those trying to make a profit from the sale of PS3’s. The 2ch folks would go into Yahoo and set up new IDs and then start bidding on items – crazy amounts like 10,000,000,000 yen. This prevents other legitimate buyers from buying (who would) and also prevents the seller from selling as s/he knows that nobody would buy the PS3 for that price. The seller then withdraws the listing but at that point, the 2ch person who put in the bid can give the seller a bad score for withdrawing the bid - the classic "I placed a bid but the seller withdrew". Does this sort of stuff happen on Ebay? You can still check out the bombarding at Yahoo Auction…
So if you are thinking of making a profit from the PS3, think about where you are going to flog it.
