Japanese Leisure

The recently published Leisure white papers show that the amount of leisure activities have dropped by 30% within the past 10 years.
One of the reasons given is due to the amount of time devoted to mobile phones and the Internets.

When I was a wee lad, the idea of a huge network which anyone could use to communicate and get free health material seemed absurd - and thus didn't exist at the time.
I spend my time outdoors chasing Kylie Minogue instead.
I can imagine that if I did have the Internets that I probably would have stayed indoors a lot.

Do you get out n about for leisure activities such as camping, theater, driving, amusement parks and what have you? Or do you spend most of your free time online?

Looks like there are quite a few Sanya fans out there - larger image at Low Rez Scans Moe Imouto - the 10MB link in the left column.

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

If you don't have much time now, maybe subscribe to the RSS Feed, Twitter Feed or join the other readers in the FaceBook Page.
Alternatively, you may want to read more about the site.
If you are a regular reader then this message will probably annoy you each time - hide it forever.

i do spend a fair amount of time on the internets, i just cant live without it anymore. Im fortunate enough to also spend a lot of time doing a lot of my outdoor activities and hobbies. You name a sport and ive got gear for two. Will be going paintballing in about two weeks, and today I played american football with some buddies. Training up for another triathlon in spring of 09 when it starts getting warmer. Though most of my free time is really spent indoors-its cheaper to doodle on my new intuos3 and check on dannychoo than it is to go out and tempt myself with impulse buys.

my excuse that there's not much to do outside anymore, or not much time >_< it would seem rather stupid to play soccer alone, and the most i actually go outside my house would be visiting the arcade, or to sch etc. or i would cycle to another estate to get my breakfast.

i'd go camping, but being a filipino, plans with the family never seem to be concrete and always dissolve (especially when it's MY IDEAS) camping alone doesn't sound fun either :/

i don't like going to the movies much since tickets these days are $10 a pop.. amusement parks, nope. i don't do roller coasters. i start driving school on the 25th, woot! for the most part i'm online, exorcising, studying my comptia A+ books, or watching anime.

Oh yes, I like to go out and do stuff whenever possible. It doesn't have to be athletic or outdoorsy, but staying at home all the time would drive me nuts. That being said, when there isn't stuff to do, its ugly weather outside, or I just don't feeling like spending money with the gf ze internet is where I'm at and it keeps my brain juicy.

Sometimes I feel fortunate that I had the privilege of growing up in a time when the internet first became mainstream. However, at the same time I regret spending so much time on my PC during my younger days. I'm not old by any means, but I feel like in a way I missed out and now I'm making up for lost time. These past few years I have made a concerted effort to be more active with my free time... basically anything to get out of the house and away from my computer. That said I still occasionally lapse into my into my old habits. >_<

I consider myself lucky in that I have a sport I love - squash. I play around 4 hours a week, and it never feels like I'm forcing myself. It's awesome exercise and even though I spend all day at work and all day at home in a chair in front of a computer, I'm still quite fit and (I think) healthy ^_^

PS. I love the new layout

Just reminiscing through those days about 5 years back, during my high school days when I spent so much more of my time away from the internet.
Probably at most 2 hours a night during weekdays, and spent about 6 hours on each day of the weekend.
Now I'm spending about 2-3 times as long compared to back then on the internet... Its currently winter now so I don't feel like going out as much. Add uni on top of that... = very little outdoor leisure time.
But when it comes to spring and summer I'll definitely spend more time outdoors. Plus I'll have uni break too.

Back in high school i wouldn't go outside unless it was necessary. Most of my time was spent watching anime and collecting anime. And I usually would spend time with my friends in school. College was somewhat like that too but with a bit more freedom. I was able to hang out with my high school friends at least once to twice a month, so i still had a bit of social life, somewhat. =/ Now most of my time is spent on work, which i surf the net for anime while working, collecting pictures to add to my gallery, working on my website, finding new anime to download when i get home, etc. At home i spend most of my time on the computer or playing my PS2 or spend time with my girlfriend and weekends i spend with friends when they aren't working.

As an otaku, I don't go out much, except to maybe buy anime DVD's, manga, figures, and TV games for the PS2/PS3/PSP, I don't have many friends (only 3, but I only see them during our brigade meetings (of which I am the leader) ), most of my time I'm either watching DVD's , I rarely ever watch TV (except if it's Anime Network on Demand, Anime Selects, IFC Anime/ on Demand, and sometimes Comedy Central), and I absolutely HATE sports, so I pretty much sit in my house and draw, go on the internet for anime (but I hate forums, hate YouTube (of which I used to be a member of until fairly recently), and I hate MySpace (or anything like it) ), So I sit in my room watching anime on the internet on VEOH, reading manga, visiting Anime News Network, dannychoo, fansub tv, Rumic World, and many others....., and making videos So no I pretty much have no other interests besides anime/ manga/ games (I'm like Konata basically), plus I don't have a girlfriend, personally the only place I really feel happy in is when I'm on the internet, or when I'm talking about anime/manga/gams and the like, plus I feel very lonely a lot, and I find normal stuff to be boring
