Japanese Hancock

Still not out in Japan but will be at the end of the month - Hancock.
I heard mixed reviews from members in puchi blurbs - worth seeing or wait for DVD?

i second that! Heath ledger's performance was unbelievable as the joker.

The Joker really scared me, Heath Ledgers acting was of the scale from 1 to 10. I'd give him a 1000000. I absorb as much of his acting during the film. I would like to say the Dark Knight kept me on the edge of my seat, eating my popcorn really fast, and I felt the film could have ended in three separate occasion!

The Dark Knight is just plain awesome. Heath Ledger as joker is crazy ^^;;;
as for Handcock I'm getting mixed reviews too Danny >.<

If you are going to see this expecting an awesome action movie, it is not worth seeing in theaters, but if you are going to see it as a comedy with action included, then by all means go see it in theaters. Saw it with a few friends and we all agreed storywise it wasn't the greatest, but it was good for a lot of laughs.

I have to agree with you on the fact that it is a action comedy instead of an action movie. I believe its good to see in theater just for the special effects alone.

I think you should add a little drama to that. Considering *some* parts of it lol...
Still... bah! never mind...

Ok,how about this? It's an action comedy with 5 minutes of drama throughout.

I'd wait for DVD unless there is nothing else to see, and you keep your expectations low.
Hey Danny, in that movie poster, don't you think Will Smith looks like a dark Japanese guy? I did a mem post on that awhile ago...

I enjoyed the film, but could've waited for it on DVD. Save the theater money for a bigger blockbuster. ^_^

A few friend who seen it told me it's best to wait for DVD...

They took an interesting turn with the superhero movie genre. On the whole, it's not bad, but if you were spoilt by Iron Man or Spiderman, then I think it's best to give this a miss.
For me, I only get the dvd of movies I really enjoyed, like Ong Bak or Lord of the Rings.

Hancock was a pretty damn cool superhero movie. I really enjoyed seeing it in the theater, and I don't go out to the theater to see movies often.

Had promise for being a satirical take on superheroes but winds up being a standard run of the mill super hero film, unfortunately.

It's either you love it or you hate it. Don't expect it to be as good as Ironman/Spiderman.

Probably not worth watching as a whole.

Meh...preview was better than the movie. Well, previews are almost always better than the movies depending on how crappy the movie is. Hancock = typical. Not worth seeing in theaters but does kill some time and give some laughs.

I saw it the day it came out with my best friend that came in from out of town, his girl and some other friends, and we had a debacle meeting at the theater so we had to sit in like the 3rd row from the front. During the high-motion scenes like flying or whatnot, I got extremely motion sick, cold sweat, nausea, clammy hands. ^^; The movie itself was pretty good, it got a little convoluted toward the end (not gonna reveal or spoil anything), but I tend to agree with the majority of people here. It didn't live up to the mega amount of hype given to it, but all in all it was a good movie that deserves a rental.

Heh, I notice that the Japanese poster says, "Debuted at number 1 in america!", definitely didn't stay at number 1 very long.

I saw the movie in the theater. I was very much satisfied. However, you won't miss to much waiting for it on DVD.

Basically, if you're going in expecting a superhero movie then you're going to be dissapointed. If you go in looking at it as a drama/"finding yourself" type movie... then it's quite alright.

Wait for DVD in case of an extended cut. This project went through so many rewrites and re-edits and had so much studio-interference, the final movie was nowhere near as good as it could have been... which is unfortunate, but it's a pretty cool story... just seems... unfinished.

One of the worst movies I've ever seen. It felt so bad that I almost wanted my 10 CAD back for the movie ticket.
Save yourself the trouble, don't even bother with the DVD.
Well I work.
I'm just glad no one here is talking ill about Will. He is a very repectable actor that I admire. I wish I had his powers though. Not to protect humanity but to own everyone in a friendly game of anything sporty.

I say DVD. ^^ then again the DVD might not be worth your money. wait for HBO or download off the web. >:D
Wow still not out in japan yet? o_o Anyway, i suggest that you just wait for the dvd too. It really has nothing that makes it worth watching it in the theatre.

well it does have a different take from the typical superhero plotlines, i will give it that. but it takes a dip halfway through when they start babbling about really corny stuff. best if you watch it off the tube or something

Not surprised. It's better watching on a DVD than watching out on the movie theaters.

Just don't watch Hancock. It's just plain BAD!!! I wouldn't even wait for the DVD knowing what I know now...
Dark knight was good but I'm not a huge fan of nolans gotham or batman in general. Heath Ledger was a fantastic joker for the movie but not for me. I preferred Iron man as a superhero and movie anyway.

Hancock really surprized me. I wasn't expecting much, but it came out as a nice movie to watch.
Dunno if it's really necessary to go to the movies to watch too... as lots of people said, it's more of a comedy with some action than an action movie with some comedy.
But it all depends on what is your concept of going to the movies to watch it.
Some people goes to the movie to watch special effects...
I myself like to go to the movies to go with the audience's reactions... and in that sense, it's really interesting to go watch Hancock, because of all the laughs.
But do watch it Danny, I'm pretty shure you'll have some good laughs.

I enjoyed Hancock. I try not to expect too much from movies or they suck more. I find it worth watching if you like Will Smith.

I really enjoyed Hancock, I thought it was a really fun movie with a good story. But then again, if movie tickets were as expensive here as they are in Japan, I probably would have waited for the dvd.
Digital animation
Hancock, I think you can wait for DVD, Not very well written seeing as the story during second half of the movie seemed to go in a totally different direction than the first half, didnt really flow well.
I really liked Hancock, good movie IMO.
College Student
Will Smith carried the movie. Even so, I found Hancock to be just not very good. It had a decent premise and definitely had potential to be a good movie during the first half but somehow took the wrong exit down plotless road.

Hancock's not a bad movie. It's good, but not great. And yeah, I agree. Not really worth watching in theaters.
