Gameboy batteries

I travel on business and pleasure quite a few times a year. Long flight times are an absolute pain in the back side but nothing is worse than having to carry around the crap that you see pictured below. They make great gadgets over here in Japan but they don't spend a penny on designing the chargers/adaptors. Sony is the worst culprit as they make the adaptors extremely large on purpose so that you are compelled to purchase the smaller adaptors that they release for the product separately.
Anyway, below is a small sample of the shit that I used to carry around with me - but no more! Why? Read on!

Below: This is what I made to replace the above! Extremely light weight, small and can also fit in your left earlobe. large clips cost about 175 yen and small clips cost about 125 yen - make the rest yourself.

Below: I usually carry my Game boy around with me anyway and have found an extra use for it - to charge by other batteries!

Below: The Game boy is charged via one of these retractable USB cords - about 700 yen. I usually carry a laptop around with me where ever I go and this cord is much smaller than the charger that comes with the Game boy

Below: What you have to do is to remove the battery from the Game boy - which for some reason is only removable by unscrewing the compartment.

Below: Now what on earth do you do when you need to charge the Xacti battery which has the + and - on the edge of the battery?

Below: You use something similar to these - these came with my computer motherboard - they are used to hold the motherboard to the PC case - not sure what they are called though.

Below: And you know what? I can charge my other batteries via my mobile phone too! The best thing about charging through the phone (and Game boy for that matter) is that there is an indicator to tell you when the battery if full. So there you have it - me laughing in the face of manufacturers who produce lame adaptors - go on try it for yourself!
