Your Definition of DC.Com

The new design is nearing completion. This is a screenshot of it running in FF3 - still need to tweak graphics including mirai-chan. Looks great in FF, Safari, Looks OK in IE7 and complete and utter crap in IE6.
First will release the Gateway (first time visitors see this) and Top pages (the redesigned top pages). The redesign of the rest of the site will follow.

I'm writing up the help pages and need inspiration from your definition of "dannychoo.com."
If you are going to introduce this site to a friend, how would you describe dannychoo.com to them?

Also, Is dc.com a figure site, japan site, both? What is this site in your (optical) eyes?

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

If you don't have much time now, maybe subscribe to the RSS Feed, Twitter Feed or join the other readers in the FaceBook Page.
Alternatively, you may want to read more about the site.
If you are a regular reader then this message will probably annoy you each time - hide it forever.

This item was posted in the Otaku category. You can see more of everything else or subscribe via RSS instead.

    Well, everyone has been pretty much saying the same thing and I agree with them whole-heartedly (a bunch of everything relating to Japan and otaku subculture, with extra emphasis on 2d girls/figures).

    What I have to add though is that everyone here is remarkably..."nice", for lack of a better word at the moment. It's not something you'd put into a formal definition, but to me it's always been rather amazing and distinct how there's hardly any conflict and insults, despite nearly non-existent moderating.

    The simplest description that comes to mind for this site is "otaku blog." Of course, that leaves out the variety of the content, and the added aspect of member contributions, but as far as categorization goes, that's the cleanest way to cinch it.

    Hmm...a guess insight into life in Japan? Personally, I just skim through the figure reviews and such. I'm more interested in your 'Week in Tokyo' series, or just stuff about life in Japan in general. Though, figure reviews/previews aren't bad at all, either.

    Though, I've started using it as inspiration. Whenever I get pissed off at my Japanese studies, I come read a few articles about Tokyo, and get right back on the horse.

    Glorified blog? Is how I see the site. Based on Otaku and Japanese culture.

    Anyway, as Fumika said the space seems a little small for just Mirai-chan on her own, but the other thing that has been bugging me is the plain coloured non-gradient grey background she's in. Just not dynamic enough and doesn't seem to fit the feel of DC in my opinion. Personal opinion though.

    I'm not sure myself; DC.com is like a place where I can connect to going-ons in Japan. Something like sitting down to the evening news... But ordinary evening news don't have 2D girls on display. :P

    What is DannyChoo.com? Tough one, even for a technical writer, lol...

    Long version: "It's not simply one person's site or blog, it's a community. Guided by a playful yet honest vision, it's an international community of like-minded admirers of Japanese entertainment, culture, humor, technology, sexuality, even philosophy. A community by the fans, for the fans."

    Short version: "A global community guided by its playful yet honest admiration of Japanese entertainment and culture."

    Something like that, lol. ^.^;

    I came to dannychoo.com for the figure news at first but the Japan news is awesome as well seeing as how I can't be there myself right now. I count on this site to tell me how awesome all the figures I'm now going to buy are. ^_^

    i still remember how i discover this site. had a weird dream last year. yoda was talking to me, "check out dannychoo.com u must. strong with the force he is."

    when i first came to DC.com, i always wondered who that stormstrooper is? i thought it was just a random cosplayer and this blog owner has a fetish of following the trooper wherever he goes and taking pics of him. it was until much later that i found out that the trooper is in fact the blog owner. lol. ^^;

    I would say that DC.com is a site that shows the true aspect of Japanese culture and of the sub-culture of otakus. Also I believe that through "comments" and the articles we create we are making windows into our own lives and opening our minds to the other people in the world who use DC.com. I personally use DC.com to show the little and big things that happen in my life like Danny does, because life isn't always as they would show in advertisements to visit a country. I think its best to hear what the people have to say than to just assume things. The comments I receive to me is like having mini pen pals around the world, and its exciting to know how others think when I can't be in their shoes.

    It's a gate way to japan, in a way haha.

    The things danny bring to light for us about japan through this site will flush your face with high amounts of awesomeness. The reviews on figurines as well as the motivational talks he makes are great, and the picture walks he does really let's you see japan right from your desktop.

    This site's suitable for otakus, people who enjoy japan's culture, food lovers and many more.
