While the prices of just about everything is on the up (due to the price of oil), prices of vegetables in Japan is on the down - many vegetables up to 80% off their normal prices.
This is due to the rather hot weather we are having meaning that vegetables are growing faster and more abundantly.

Is news in your region also filled with the people-are-not-spending-anymore-due-to-rising-oil-prices thing? Has this wave affected your (or your family) spending habits?

Yeah the rise of Oil prices makes everything go up. Bottle of Soda, Gallon of Milk, everything. Its sad how one thing can affect everything.

And the US economy isn't doing so great nowadays either. The Oil Sure is making things easy.

And what pisses me off the most is 4.30ish USD per gallon of gas. And thats the regular one.

The one thing not on the rise is housing though. Get a good home at a decent price if your mortgage company isn't going belly up.

The oil price and people whining about it is on the news everyday. I'm getting tired of hearing about it, but at the same time I understand why people don't like the high prices, think of all the figures you could buy with that extra money you'll save if the oil suddenly had the same price it had 15 years ago.

My family's always been kind of frugal, but the rising cost of everything combined with the current crap economy is driving us to a new extreme. We've kind of gotten hit by the bad economy second hand--my dad's technically in a service industry, and even if he's earned 20 grand for the business in a month, he only gets paid if his clients can pay him, which lately has not been a good prospect. Not only that, but I'm in college, and even with a hefty scholarship housing, food, and books for me are quite expensive. Not to mention that I might have to throw down money for Adobe CS3 this semester. -_-;; This is why all the Figmas I want (save for Miku) are going on my Christmas list instead of my buy list.

Oh yes, everything is more expensive now, it's quite sad. We have an F-250 super duty truck, it runs on diesel and diesel is hovering around $5.00 a gallon, it's horrible. =/ We actually went and rented a small can for our trip down to San Diego for Comic-Con, it turned out about half the price of filling up the truck twice for that trip. The truck would have taken about 2 tank fulls, $300 in total.

    Woohoo - cheap moolies!

Here in the UK our economy is tanking badly. The UK economy has literally fallen off the cliff. Last Summer you could get nearly 250 yen for your pound, now it's 200. House prices are crashing, a big bank failed, folk are losing their jobs and the new prime minister is perhaps wishing he'd never taken the job. The worst thing is that the Labour government of the last 11 years have saved absolutely nothing for a rainy day, so the next few years will be brutally tough for many folk (especially those under 35, who have known only good economic times).

Happily my otaku programming skills have never been more in demand, as our recent graduates prefer to study wooly subjects such as sociology and acting.

Most goods and necessary items for daly life (food, water, hygiene products) have become more expensive here as well, though that's been so for a few years now since the Euro was introduced here. The past two years with the increased oil prices fuel and food prices have increased more sharply though.

Add to that our country hasn't had a decent working government for over a year now... which certainly isn't doing the economy any good.

I'm very interested on the price of pantsus, are they going to be so high that school girls wouldn't be able to buy them?

High oil prices are causing a lot of people to cut back on spending, not just myself. Though I can be thankful that the high prices should come down

As much as it may be dwelling on others unhappiness, the low oil prices are helping me ^^

    South African Rand/Japanese Yen and South African Rand/US Dollar exchange rates have shot way down over the past two weeks... my trip to Japan has got 20% cheaper ^^;

well the gas prices and food prices rising has made my family not go on so many trips obviously, and my mom buys from local places (like farms and all that) so then they dont have to travel across the country to get to us (like oranges from florida she wont want to buy as often, but she'd rather buy apples from the local farm instead, plus 100% of the money goes back to the farmer) so i guess people buying local vegetables will only help their economy it sounds like and they dont have to pay so much for gas(???)

idk much about this stuff but thats just my guess -_-

Here in Bulgaria, NO MATTER what happens people always spend money like crazy(even thought the salaries are lousy - where do they get the money from?) and the prices of the products are going higher and higher NO MATTER WHAT! That's my impression.
