Tis indeed good news for Nanoha fans - a movie coming to the big screen this Winter.
The only 2D animation I've seen in the theater has been the first Japanese Street Fighter Animation many many moons ago.
Actually no, I also remember seeing Howls moving castle in the theater too.
Do they screen many animated movies in your region?

Original text from Alafista OTAKU below.

Great news for those that are fans of Nanoha! A theatrical version of Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha [劇場版「魔法少女リリカルなのは The MOVIE 1st] is set to premier in cinema in winter.

This piece of new is announced in the latest issue of Megami magazine.

Please excuse me as I squeal like a 8 year old girl.

Movie generally means high-quality, which is desperately needed after the QUALITY that is StrikerS. Looks like it takes place around A's too, which is even better.
So yeah, I'm happy. DO WANT!

Nanoha's also sporting shorter pigtails, and from what I can make out, Bardiche has a more 'bat wing' look to it.

It's not a sequel. It's a remake of the 1st season. Furthermore, it's taking place in a parallel universe.

Still, getting to see loli Nanoha and Fate again is great news. ;)

figured as much. But the first 2 series were pretty condensed. It's kinda hard to see what they can remove to fit it into a movie length feature.

it's going back to the roots of said time but the scans show the characters drawn to be older than they were in the original first season.. i think maybe around the time of A's age-wise. so preteen?..that's what i think anyways.

Animated movies? Only if the director or studio is critically acclaimed here in sg. The first and the last anime movie I watch was Evangelion.

No. But recently there was a anime film festival here and they showed many good Miyazaki films and a few by other directors.
I had a great time. It is great to watch films like Porco Rosso and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind from a big screen:)

actually, personally i feel StrikerS was well done. it feels quite conclusive at the end though so i'm not sure about any sequels after that. (which might be the reason for the parallel story)
perhaps he storyline grew with the character growth (nanoha being i think 17-22yrs or so.. i forget how old she is supposed to be but around there i believe) as well as audience growth. but even so, i feel it has still kept its themes. basically, it's constantly maturing. you start with the original series where they are kids. then grow up a bit, and finally grow up quite some more. (still haven't watched A's..i'll get around to it sooner or later..)
that's my two cents on StrikerS and the series as a whole.

They always release a new issue 1 full month ahead of the actual month eg. Sep issue in end July/early August

      100th issue this issue.. WOOT!

now watch as Kinokuniyas halfway around the world take 3 weeks to stock it.. as least that's the average time it takes for Kino Singapore to bring it in.

As for animated movies in my region, yes, they do screen.
But unfortunately, most of the times it's dubbed versions only.
So I usually watch at home. I HATE dubbed stuff.

In Brazil, theater owners still have the stupid idea that animation is for kids only, thus showing them with dubbing only.
