You must be bored by now from all these questions about the first time visitor/regular reader user experience so here is some Tiffania to keep you awake.

but this is what I've decided based on your feedback.
I see that many of you check a few times a day so came up with this design that enables you to see at a glance whats going on.

So below is the first run experience for the new visitor. The slide show will show popular photo articles to get their appetite wet (or not).
Their button will take them to a guide of the site contents.

Below is what folks will see once "current reader?" is clicked. The reason why the news items are on top is because they are updated more times a day while the article is only updated once a day.
The first article will be in "expanded" mode by default. This is so that new users know that the articles are important too and I think the large space devoted to it should help them understand that.
Do you need the option to "expand all" or "fold all" (display only thumbnails) articles in the middle column?
If this is fine by you then I will start work on the CSS. Shout if you have any concerns.

Also, you will be able to toggle comments. I use that function a lot but was wondering about you?

As for Tiffania, shes now my fave Zero no Tsukaima girl ^^;
