Women only carriage

Women being groped on the trains seems to be a common problem on the trains judging by all the "No perversion" signs dotted around here and there. One of my colleagues had a bad encounter on the trains but the pervert groped the wrong person - she threw the pervert to the floor and held him in an arm lock. Now the really sad bit was when she called for help to call the police - everybody ignored her. One person said to her "Stop making a fuss."
I dont know what actually happens when a bloke gets on one of these carriages and I guess not much - I cant imaging people saying much.

Where I live, the local train system isn't that widely used...so it's never really that crowded enough for someone to "pull a move off." Not to mention, even if someone did, I'm sure that person would be kicked off, since that "type of perversion" isn't really that tolerated. They would also have to go to court I guess?

ひきこもり/Hikikomori. Suits my current state more than a 大学生/University Student. ^^
Wow, I guess that's the negative side of Japanese culture.
Nothing is perfect, eh?

when I was in Tokyo I got on a women's only carriage and nothing happened. I would have gotten off, but other men were there.

It's not suprising, and it's a good idea. However the story you said was really sad. I don't understand why are people so... why don't they help? Maybe there should be a disguised policeman in every train.

As long as "Chester the Molester" is the only reason for segregation more power to yah.
We have a history of it here, but that was my parents generation.

This is a very good idea! I'm all otaku and stuff but I'd never attempt any groping/lude things...well in public, with random people ^^

Ill have to remember this so i don't end up embarrassed.

When I first saw them in Tokyo, I thought they were for women to *get away* from the crowdedness of the other cars more than preventing them from being groped. Also thought that it was for women to avoid the smell of armpits XD

smart way to deal with the kind of people who do stuff to women that are unwanted.
