Looks like Wii gets a power up. My question is when are they going to make a sensor set that fits on the arms and legs so that we can fully control characters with our whole body?

NINTENDO INTRODUCES THE WII™ MOTIONPLUS
July 14, 2008
Nintendo's upcoming Wii™ MotionPlus accessory for the revolutionary Wii Remote™ controller again redefines game control, by more quickly and accurately reflecting motions in a 3-D space. The Wii MotionPlus accessory attaches to the end of the Wii Remote and, combined with the accelerometer and the sensor bar, allows for more comprehensive tracking of a player's arm position and orientation, providing players with an unmatched level of precision and immersion. Every slight movement players make with their wrist or arm is rendered identically in real time on the screen, providing a true 1:1 response in their game play. The Wii MotionPlus accessory reconfirms Nintendo's commitment to making games intuitive and accessible for everyone. Nintendo will reveal more details about the Wii MotionPlus accessory and other topics Tuesday morning at its E3 media briefing.

Bought my Wii back in 2006 and it has been gathering dust since mid 2007. There's not much good games in its library so i'm hoping this new add-on will encourage developers to be more creative with their games.

So, who here owns a Wii? How about those of you who owns a Wii and doesn't play it at all?

Thoughts about the Wii's game library?

I hardly ever play it... there really arn't enough decent games. But that goes for the PS3 and 360 aswell, the only reason we have a Wii is cos my little bro wanted it. Even the release of smash bros didnt prompt me to play it more...

I've started to play my wii (good, after two years, that still sounds wrong) again for sometime ago. I noticed our game library had got lots of new titles (Yay for game playing parents), so right now I'm playing Mario Kart and Smash Brawl.
If this thing work, it's awesome. Now they just need to invent some kind of cool helmet, so that your actually in the game and not just looking at it from afar ^^

The only thing I see this useful for is a Lightsaber game. Lightsabers can cut through anything so you don't get any force feedback, apart from other lightsabers. You can't really use it on a sword fighting game where you constantly hit thing and have rebounds and whatnot. You'll only have the feeble rumble in the controller.

Hmm... wondering what does this Motion Plus thing means. I have to bet that it will be package with a 1st party game, but what 1st party game would require a 1:1 motion response. A new Zelda? I think it has to be some kind of sport game like Mario golf... the possibility...

I have all three current gen systems. The Wii is definitely my favorite of the bunch. I'm excited about the possibilities that this new accessory could bring to control, but I'm worried about it fragmenting the market place. This isn't like when Nintendo introduced rumble back with the N64, this will change how the games are actually played.

This also kind of feels like Nintendo admitting that the wiimote wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Go back and watch the original Wii promo video, and what they showed there looks what they're finally going to deliver now....only with a new, probably over priced, accessory. Their promo back then was definitely pretty deceiving in retrospect.

I got a Wii on release day. I have a fairly large library (10-15 games I can't quite remember ^_^) considering very few games have been sold for anything but the biggest releases.

However I don't really play it as its games are more for groups of people at a party than single player or constant multiplayer. Brawl, for example, does not have what the other Super Smash titles have in competitive play (especially 1v1) but it's loads of fun with four people (aka a huge brawl).

Its singles player titles (such as Super Paper Mario, Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy) are really fun for a single playthrough but lack replay immediate replay value (especially if you 100% the play through).

all it basically does is provide 1:1 response which means that you move your arm this much and the characters move their arm by that much as well. They should come out with a controller that has this built-in in the future.

I always wonder why people are saying there aren't enough good games on Wii. I understand that the 3rd party games are mostly horrible, but there are still many great games and to me some of the best games ever (Super Mario Galaxy is close to being the best Mario -game) in the Wii library. Right now the PS3 has 1 game I'd really want, Xbox 360 has maybe 5 and Wii has over 10. Of course it's all about what kind of games you like.

Hate to rant, but despite being a Nintendo fan all my life (had almost all consoles), instead of making the WiiMote more accurate, GOOD GAMES would be great instead.

And by GOOD GAMES I mean, no crapware.

I mean, I'm kinda tired of hearing about "potential" of this or that acessory on the Wii. The WiiMote alone has lots of potetial... which wasn't explored much.

Add that to Nunchuck, WiiBoard, WiiWare and other stuff.
LOTS of potential... like the stuff on Johnny Lee's videos. But what's the point when there are no developers willing to explore that potential?

Couple of months ago I was leaning towards buying the Wii... but right now? I think I'm buying a PS3.

You could use it to accurately model a Sword, or a beam-saber, because with the new add-on, the Wii will now have 2 points of reference. Maybe the nunchuck could model a shield, or a secondary dagger. As for the games library, It's not as interesting as the PS3 or Xbox 360, but the control innovation is reason enough to keep believing.
