Apart from the sometimes useless side-features which I hardly use, Facebook can be useful in connecting with people. I even find classmates from ages ago which I thought I would never hear from again. If used properly, I guess it can be very handy, though I've yet to use it to its full potential.

Facebook is just as bad as myspace. I have both friendster and facebook accounts but I tend to not use them much. But my friends also have both and they use facebook a LOT more than friendster.

Friendster is pretty much out-of-date now...

I don't have one and don't intend to take an account either. Maybe facebook is different than others but it seems to me that all these social networking sites are the same. When one of them becomes old-fashioned a new site with a few additions pops up, then hurray! everyone takes an account at the new one, it's just like neverending lol. Sometime in future facebook will most probably rest in peace then a new one will appear.

"Freedom fries" was a name used by some in the United States for French fries, as a result of anti-French sentiment in the United States during the international debate over the decision to launch the 2003 invasion of Iraq. From Wikipedia.

Facebook is okay...be prepared to get email spam from them any time practically anything happens on it...when someone adds you, when your friend post on your wall, when your friend add pictures of you, when your friend invites you to play a game/join a club, etc...it's pretty insane the amount of spam you get.

Two years ago, I would tell you Friendster is good. A year ago, I would say that Facebook is annoying because of all those application. Then now, I have deleted all the application and it is very very handy in communicating with friends. One reason being my friends are all over the world now and second being that they are busy so instant messaging don't really help.

I have myspace and facebook. I'm not really a fan of "social networking" sites. Mostly because of how ridiculous people can get with the customization of those things. But it's allowed me to keep in touch with some people, and get back in touch with others. A lot of my friends post their life news there, and things like baby pictures (so I can see their kids grow up even though I'm never able to see anyone). I think I'm on classmates, too, but I never use that.

My little sister has both as well, so I also use them to keep an eye on her.

Facebook is my hands-off platform. It's just another way for "real" people to get in touch with me (and sometimes people I don't feel like being in touch with, unfortunately). I update frequently but only because I have the Twitter app installed on my FB page.

Good thing about Facebook is that it's less flashy but able to connect you with many friends from past. You can search people with your school and graduation year and I was able to reconnect with many of high school friends~

    Added Danny as well :)

I have facebook, myspace and the crappy bebo. All of them were made out of boredom. I rarely go on any of them but I see myself going on facebook a lot more recently. Probably because pictures from an internet meet were up on others profiles. Also I get loads of emails saying somethings happened on facebook so I check. I never really intended to sign up to them, it just happened.

I use facebook. I like some of the 3rd party apps. What I dislike is that they seem to ban ppl without notice.
I'm also on iwiw which is a kind of local fb, it's not that good but lots of my friends are on them, and you don't have to be friends with ppl to check their details. (there goes your privacy, but it's a good tool to find out if someone is single or what she likes)

No I don't have a Facebook or MySpace account. I don't like how either Facebook or My Space have so much control over personal content and many have told me it's impossible to delete an account on both sites. I find all the junk on individuals pages to be annoying. I have never known anyone to gain many useful contacts from these sites.

Wouldn't a well maintained blog be much better? Also, people really worth having contact with will find your blog and communicate with you.

Having said that, I do make use of FriendFeed, Delicious, Pounce, StumbleUpon. I know of people getting better results from those services. Oh yes, I do use twitter and spend a lot of time on flickr. Currently I'm trying to use one variation of my internet alias, so trying funkblueame will usually work, or go to http://friendfeed.com/funkyblueame/

It's good for keeping in touch with high school friends or any friends for that matter. Bad cause of the lack of customization on your page (like backgrounds, fonts...etc) and the use of applications are abused.

I had avoided creating a Facebook/myspace account all this time, even though most of my friends had an account on either one of the two. Wasn't really against social networking sites or anything, was just a bit apathetic towards the whole thing. Finally got convinced to sign up for a Facebook account the other day, and it's actually been kind of fun. People always talk about being able to find old contacts/friends that they've lost track of, and until you actually experience that for yourself it's hard to imagine how nice it feels to rekindle a relationship.

On the other hand, sometimes the amount of people who try to friend you because they know you peripherally is just a bit weird.

Ok, I don't join any site like that even though some of my friends do. Lazy to keep up and blah blah. I only hang around here, my favorite audio playback software forum and some IRC channels of FOSS projects when necessary. IOW, I can't give you advice on this. But I spot this: "# PlayStation 3 ID = "dannychoodotcom" - watch me loose in any online battle ^^;".

I got turned off that the site slows down when you browse a profile that has just too many applications. Really slows down the browser and destroys the experience (and I always use firefox when browsing facebook, IE just doesn't cut it).

I have a FaceBook, is so popular here in Latin America, like HI5, MySpace, Perspot, so on
Facebook is very nice, i like it so much because you have nice control over who add you or who visit your profile and most people who adds you, are people around your zone (friends of your friends), they don't allow you use nicknames, you have to used your realname ^^ also, is a nice way to find old classmates :), and of course PKR application is very nice y adictive ^^.

Before I use Facebook, I used to use Hi5, but lately is very ecchi :3
many people leave comments perverts in girls profiles, steal your photos and create a new profile with your photos but with his/her name XD and many people use hi5 to find or meet people for ....well you know...perverts things...yare yare ^^
