Q:What is the first thing that you do after lining up 18 hours for an iPod 3G?
A:Take it apart...
Do you have the "must-see-inside-electronic-device" fetish?

So that's what an Iphone looks like on the inside...
nada
Yup, I have.
Though I rip apart a lot, things with LCD screens I usually don't touch.
Because those tiny screens are really sensitive to damage, static electricity or a screwdriver that accidentally slipped can cost you a handfull.
college slacker
I'm only take apart dead electronic appliance and try to repair it. Last time take apart a "alive" appliance is a 40 Gb ipod to replace the battery, not the funniest thing in the world to do since the sucker cost 250$.

at the very least, they are not throwing the toy, wrecking, hammering it in front of people who's queueing for them.
Student / Software Engineer
I've taken some classes where I had to design and build simple electronics. After looking at that, my mind just broke when I figured out what exactly what it needed to do with whats there. I'd explain it but it took two years to learn what I know about software and electronics so I'll put this simply. Its like they took a full grown elephant and stuck it in a jar a peanuts.
Student
Yeah same here, I'm an electronics student, I've seen better ones too but that's some freaking tech there going on, like from an other world, soo much different from things we're working on as a student.

It doesn't I have the degree in engineering I should take it apart and reassemble it after close inspection. I can't afford to damage my stuff or make the warranty void. =_="

I don't do it with electrical gadget but I do with mechanical ones, like watches, music box,...

I'd be more interested in pinouts and direct hardware benchmarks. I wonder how well the 3G's last-gen ARM11 stacks up to the new OMAP3 line. :O

nah those blending guys blend everything apart.
it's like they are the bane of technology or something

I know about Blentec for a while, just seeing this article reminds me that those guys would do same thing to the new iPhone.

These guys called into Leo Laporte's 24 hours of coverage. I was amazed that the first thing they did was disassemble the phone. I'm pretty sure they can put it back together, but still. They didn't even play with it first.

yes I do! but I can't...sob...

No, but my brother has. The great thing is, that he can put things back together again:) And he is also able to repar them.

Why in the name of all that's holy would anyone take apart an iPhone 3G? I recently bought the LG Dare which I'm sure is a lesser phone in comparison and there's still no way I'd take it apart.
Oh well. To each his own. Or her own, as the case sometimes be.
"must-see-inside-electronic-device" <--that
I can usually out them back together and I only take apart old/broken devices

Perhaps one of my older hobbies, I used to open up my handheld games if they seemed broken. I do fix appliances or other household objects but, not much. Main reason is that my dad doesn't fix anything and it'll just stay broken.. so, I give it a try ^^;
I'd never do it with an iPhone though.. not that advaned XD

I've always wondered how they were able to fit in all the features into one slim package. I have to admit, I'm no apple fan but they make beautiful devices. now if only they don't lock them up.

Definitely nono. I'm not so rich to take something brand new apart and risking damaging it!

I used to love to open things to see what inside. Since I droped my Nokia N71 and it bursted itself, I tried to put them back and I successed after 2 days but the main camera never work anymore. Beside if you open your phone or iPod, the warranty seal will be broken. I just try it when I don't use it anymore.
