Some folks in the media are determined to make otaku look bad.
A weekly journal published an article on how "the 2-channelers are praising the Akihabara killer by calling him a god."

A load of 2-channelers are responding by saying that they have never seen such a thread.
News and 2-channelers response at Itai News.

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

If you don't have much time now, maybe subscribe to the RSS Feed, Twitter Feed or join the other readers in the FaceBook Page.
Alternatively, you may want to read more about the site.
If you are a regular reader then this message will probably annoy you each time - hide it forever.

Amazing. Simply amazing how much sensationalism are going into this on the select media side. As funny as it sounds, it's almost like how they portrayed the media in Death Note, as nothing more than a ratings-hungry bunch of incompetant fools unable, or rather, unwilling to report on the truth since it probably wouldn't get them good ratings.

While I'm sure there are people actually fighting the good fight on the media side, but hey, who's counting, right?

True, but it's still called FOX "News". And that doesn't change the fact that many people watch it and that they're constantly bashing gamers. I'm sure some people take everything they see on the "news" as truth, which is bad for whichever person/community is being trash-talked.

Even if some people have formed a cult-following (probably not, but you never know) for this guy, why would they be "otaku"? He killed those people in Akihabara. That makes about as much sense as claiming a group of radical muppets are praising someone for committing a bombing on Sesame Street. The story doesn't even begin to make sense.

Wow, the media has officially gotten so desperate for people to read their crap that they had to steep this low. Nobody is buying their newspapers nor are people wishing to look into their stories to instead opt for the average blogger's post thus making the media so very twisted. I think everyone should just ignore the news media and take news from common bloggers instead so we can watch these over-payed horn-blowers see a much needed end to their pathetic careers.

Fox news is one of the most notorious in these acts, and Im sure that anyone living in the states knows what im talking about. they target videogames specifically as society's root of all evil, when infact what they're doing is exactly what they're accusing others of.
