USB IDE adapter

Mentioned the other day that I picked this up but it didn't work - took it back to Akibakan in Akihabara to exchange it and it finally works. Its called the "Chokusashi IDE" and is an extremely useful addition to all my other drive units which as the title implies, allows me to attach a 3.5 inch IDE HD via USB to either my Macs or Windows machines.
Very simple to use as you can see from the shot - just plug in to the back of the IDE - set the pins to master, attach USB2 cable and power on. The on/off switch is a bit lousy because that only "unplugs" the disk but the power is still on - you have to pull out the power cord if you want to turn the thing off. Still -very useful and a bargain at 2,980 yen. The adapter is a rather large though which is a pain...
