Am I the only PS3 owner thats not planning to buy on day of release?
I think I got fed up of the hype since pre PS3 launch. Will probably wait for a while until I get it. My fave MGS was the one on the first playstation. What was your fave MGS?

Plan on pre-ordering the bundle today. I've been holding out on getting a PS3 until I found some games that we're worthwhile. My favorite is Snake Eater by far and the 2nd one being the least favorite.

I'm not far off from your comment either. Too much hype is poisonous, I mean, sure, there's plenty of fanboyism to go around because it's Kojima, etc etc. But the simple fact that it's been lauded for the past year or so nonstop sort of took the edge off of the game's launch.
Now, tack on the fact that Konami has given explicit gag order restrictions to reviewers preventing them from discussing details about the game that are 'detrimental' including one-and-a-half-hour cutscenes and an obscenely large install size on the PS3 hard disk, among other issues, and it spells that there's more to the beast behind its mask.
I'll be waiting a while for sure before I get this. Personally I really liked Snake Eater and The Twin Snakes (the Gamecube remake of the original PS1 Metal Gear Solid). They were most excellent.

MGS1 by far my fave. 3 got a bit too complex and don't get me started about 2 (and it wasn't just cos of raiden)
I don't intend to get MGS4 on release either, but I will eventually get it. Don't want my signed sleeve to go unused afterall.

My favorite is Metal Gear Solid on the Playstation.
MGS2 is just disappointing. Meh. Just meh. Then I stopped caring about the overhyped MGS series or that Kojima who kept insisting that MGS he's working on will be the last one. Hah!

Metal Gear Solid 3 and the Gamecube remake of Metal Gear Solid are the two best games in the series. I have MGS4 preordered, and I can't wait for it any longer! Must. Have. Now!

When I played MGS my English was so bad I couldn't understand much of what they're talking. Managed to finish the game though.
MGS 2 and 3, my English was already good enough to better understand the games.. To be honest, I rarely studied for English test at school anymore starting from that point. Thanks to games. ^^

The MGS series to Sony is very much like what the Halo series is to Microsoft: it's the console's unofficial poster boy, and every release is greeted with worldwide anticipation and critical acclaim. Of course mass advertisement campaign is to be expected. No PS3 here, so no plans to buy. Will consider getting a PS3 or any current-gen console sometime in the future.

Only MGS series is actually doing things that have never been done before in videogame history. Halo is just an average to above average FPS with fun online gameplay.

I am not buying it because of the hype. Far from it. I am buying it because I love the series even with it's flaws and issue. I've always loved the series even number two even though the story was way way way out there. I will be getting it on the day it comes out. It's on my birthday, I think I have the right to get it first day. XD

It's MGS guys! There can never be too much hype. Hideo Kojima is a genius and his games are constantly leagues above their peers when released. I go crazy just thinking about. It really deserves all the praise (hype) and I say it isn't enough!!

As mentioned in my members news, I preordered the game thru Amazon for dirty cheap. Otherwise, wasn't thinkin of getting till I finished story mode on GTA 4.

still think to buy which region.. since the multiplay is region locked.. aiks.. headache.. the JP version's multiplay server only accept JP IP address.. ya, there are a way to do "something" to our IP but I am not too pro on that..

There's also an Asia version IIRC. If you buy the Japanese version, you'll get Japanese texts and audio since there won't be dual language (unless of course, you can understand Japanese).
I'm not sure if the Asian version is any different, but judging from the other games i bought, it's basically the US version that comes with a chinese manual >_<

Don't worry. I don't plan to get it one the first day either. I like MGS series but not that enthusiastic.
I might be playing GTA4 at home when all my friends struggling for a copy of it.
The only game that will make me fight for it on the first day is FFXIII.

I only played the first game and it really couldn't keep me interested, but most of all, I don't like the primitive gameplay.
MGS4 though, does look quite nice.
