Looks like the Wii has beat the PS3 and 360 in terms of sales.

"With the release of the latest figures from VGChartz, Wii has officially passed 360 in the Americas in lifetime sales as of the week ending May 24th, 2008, despite the 360 having an extra year on the market. Wii has reached 11.7M sales in America in its 79th week available; whereas, 360 reached 11.5M in American sales in its 131st week. PS3 is currently at 4.9M lifetime sales in the Americas after it's 80th week on the market. (For reference, the "America" region tracked by VGChartz includes all of North, Central, and South America.)

This week saw a boost in Wii sales due to Nintendo releasing additional supply to support the launch of Wii Fit. To date, Wii remains largely sold out in the US. Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime had gone on record in February as saying the Wii would pass the 360 in the US by June based on the strength of recently released hits Super Smash Bros Brawl and Mario Kart Wii in addition to Wii Fit (not to mention increased supply).

In Europe, Wii passed 360 last December on strong holiday sales. In Japan, of course, Wii passed 360's lifetime sales in its first week. Worldwide, Wii surpassed 360 sales in late August to become the current market leader. Wii has currently sold 26.7M units to date worldwide, while 360 has 18.8M and PS3 has 13.0M units sold."

Have not touched my Wii lately and have been doing the rounds on Devil May Cry. Stuck on the 14th stage trying to get pass some electric knight and he isnt even the boss orz.

    Woo hoo!
    Wii FTW!
actually i'm a strong supporter for the PS3 myself.
But I can't deny the fun factor in Wii games.
Especially when you got friends over and they just want to have some fun? bust out the wii!
PS3 though, I hope it surpasses the 360, It's a great console for some first player games, just still has some small problems to work out I think

Heh I'm just like you, I have a Wii even though I want a PS3, and before I know it I have nearly every Nintendo console (except a N64). Loved it when SSBB came out but there are hardly any big games coming out for any console (maybe MGS).

On the contrary, I've never been so excited for my game machine lately, MGS4 is coming!!

Are you stuck on that teleporting elextric demon (Blitz)? You'll need to shoot him till he loses the electricity before you can start slashing away at 'em.

Regarding the DMC4 stage 14 where you dealing with Blizt, use gunslinger to shot him till he loses his electric shield. once he looses it, you whatever is in your disposal to sent him back to hell. However, when he starts releasing red color electricity, use trickster to avoid him. Well, there a thousand of ways to dispose him if you check it through the net.
      All the best Danny.

Barely touch my Wii, really. I've also spent more time playing 'cube games on it than Wii games, with the exception of the Wii Fire Emblem game. Played all my GBA and DS games to death. Still playing a lot of PS2, but I've been playing a lot of the 360 since Christmas (when I got Mass Effect, Eternal Sonata, and Assassin's Creed).
It's so true about the unattainable Wiis, too. They're a little bit easier to find here in the U.S. now, but the way they fly off the shelves is still pretty amazing. Even with smaller production, it's not hard to believe it outselling the other consoles since every unit that comes out gets sold immediately. When the PS3 came out here, they just sat on the shelves gathering dust. GTAIV gave them a surge in sales, though, and Bioshock probably will too.

I only planned getting Lost Winds since it looked so good, I though Final Fantasy would be rubbish.

I was considering buying a Wii since I mostly play console games with friends... but I'm also VERY VERY VERY interested in Little Big Planet for the PS3.

I'm not much of a fan of the big franchises... MGS, Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy, etc etc etc... basically because I can't keep up with them.

But I see lots of people complaining about the shovelware on the Wii.

Maybe Nintendo can convince me if they release more games like this one:

They can sell millions of consoles but that doesn't mean profit. Companies like Sony and Nintendo already lose money from consoles since they sell the consoles way less than the cost of making them. Honestly, Wii is an innovative system but just not enough games come out on it. I think once games like MGS4 and FF XIII comes out, PS3 will eventually pick up its pace.

Sure its innovative, but all the games kinda almost feel the same and the controls gets really boring after 10+ hours of play so its more like a party console than are gaming console.

I'm quite happy with my 360, mostly because the amount of good games on the 360 is much higher than the wii.

Whenever I walk into a gamestore with a friend of mine, we walk by the pc section, 360 section, and wii section.
Now, this might be limited to europe.
But the amount of actual wii games is pathetic, the shelves are loaded with games such as *my little pony*, or * bionicle*, or *bratz*.

there are only a couple of games that are worth something, one of them only became available recently.

Smash bro. brawl, DBZ tenkaichi 2 and 3, mariokart. Can't think of any else.
imo, which is, in my my opinion, so no flaming here plzkthx.

The wii lacks games, which you can start at 4 in the afternoon , and find yourself at 2 am still playing through the singleplayer, still not finished, still having fun.

Nintendo acknowledged this, and said they'd do something about all the prop releases, and start getting some decent, non repetetive games.

I've yet to see it though.

When Nintendo announced the name of its game console that will succeed the Gamecube, the whole Internet laughed. Then the casuals came into the picture when the console was released. So who's laughing now?

In my opinion, the casuals have changed the gaming landscape. While Sony and Microsoft fight over "Next Gen", Nintendo gambled with a gimmicky but intuitive waggle and won big.

Anyway, I'm never taken by Nintendo. It just screams kiddy games to me, the place where toadstool jumping plumbers and pokemons come from. But Nintendo deserves credit for breaking the rules, going their own way and reaping the rewards.

As I've said in countless other blogs, Nintendo focuses on Gameplay while Microsoft and Sony just keep harping on the stats of their machine, trying to make games with outstanding graphics while sacrificing gameplay.

For Nintendo, we have seen, that they constantly try to create new gaming experiences, most notabally with the GBA, DS and Wii.

Personally, I own a PS2, but just feel like it is a waste of money to get a PS3. I'd rather buy more figures. :)

    WII BANZAI!!!

I have all three current gen systems. But the Wii is definitely my favorite. I'm addicted to Smash Bros. Brawl, and I just finished playing through Trauma Center: New Blood, which seriously rocked. I mainly use my ps3 as a blu ray player (I bought it only 3 weeks after launch day, and I still only have 3 games for it). And I rarely touch my 360.

Well, the main reason for that is because the Wii is simply fun. Nintendo trys to appeal to all ages and give the players an excuse to keep playing. :)

I haven't touched my Wii for a month either. I do kind of regret getting now, since almost everyone I know has one, so there isn't really any need for me to get one.

Nice to see. It's a shame most games on the Wii don't interest me anymore. I love my 360, so many good games.

People buy the Wii because their friends invite them over to play the Wii because a lot of Wii games are multiplayer-based and people like the interactivity of the Wiimote. They like it and then buy their own Wii, and it's a console that has a larger target audience. Also price is a large factor.

If I played a lot I would run out of good games to play on Wii. There also aren't many games for the PS3, but I have a lot of PS2 games to play still.
