Candy Girl up close

By now there is probably no regular reader of this site who doesn't know about Candy Girl and although you get the "WTF" and "OMG" in the comments, I know there is a ton of you closet Candy Girl fans out there! And just for you, I'm going to be continuing to bring you news on this Japanese phenomena.
Anyway, you became that closet fan of Candy Girl ever since you first read about her, you read about the game, saw the screenshots and got all excited cos you want some more of Candy Girl but cant really afford the 620,000 yen for a real one and then you spent 20 mins during that project launch meeting playing with the Candy Girl Multiviewer while ignoring your boss who kept shouting "CLOSE THOSE CLAM SHELLS" (referring to your laptops). And just for you here are some shots of Candy Girl in the flesh!
There was a Candy Girl event at Softmap's store in Akihabara on the same day as the WHF. Gonzague and I made a dash for sofmaps 7th floor after the WHF to get a glimpse of Candy Girl and this is how it went...
And before I forget - dont forget to check out Akihabara News for Gonzague's video footage of Candy Girl!

The stairway on the way up to the 7th floor is full of game posters - many of which you feel like just taking but if you do that you will be another "evil" foreigner in Japan being naughty.

This is the Candy Girl that you are most familiar with - Ai chan. I dont particularly have a fetish for maids but the Japanese certainly do. I have still yet to check out a maid cafe though to see what the fuss is all about - my wife said to me "lets go to a maid cafe one day"

Now some events are a right bugger because the organizers dont let you take photos. I just dont see the point of events where you cant do sod all. This Candy Girl event was very different. As soon as you walked in, they gave you a brochure, poster and said "feel free to take photos and touch."
"Touch? er, ok."

Now many of you posted comments saying that they look creepy, but I think not - especially after seeing them in the flesh. Ai chan in particular is very cute. The way Orient Industries made them is amazing.
Orient Industries started off many moons ago by manufacturing artificial limbs which then evolved into Candy Girl.

You probably know by now but the Japanese are very keen on costumes - maids, school girls, nurses and what have you. When you order a Candy Girl, you can choose a side order of costumes too.

There are different types of Candy Girl made of different materials - you can for example order Ai chans head, a black hair piece and choose from a few types of body.
If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.
If you don't have much time now, maybe subscribe to the RSS Feed, Twitter Feed or join the other readers in the FaceBook Page.
Alternatively, you may want to read more about the site.
If you are a regular reader then this message will probably annoy you each time - hide it forever.

Hmm... their faces look freakishly young... seriously like a 10 year olds face on a mature body with eyes... weirds me out to be honest.

I've never heard of "Candy Girl" Before (Probably because I live in California. I tell ya what, it is very hard to be otaku in such an Americanized place, hardly anything in real life, sadly its all online) But after seeing this amazing page, I am going to do some intense research. I like the School P.E. one best! Sooooo Kawaii!!!! XD

Ai is the most lovely of the dolls. ^^
