I went there last year and it was a lovely place. Always crowded and added to the atmosphere, though I went with a tour so my time there was limited which was a shame.

man i miss this place so much. i made it a point to come here last time i was in tokyo. its nice to get out and really see japan for what it is, and not just visiting akihabara all day long.

Great place and one of the first I visited in Tokyo. I really like the older suburbs like Asakusa as they have a lot more character.

I see you have murals too in Japan. Here we have lots and lots...it's sort of a tradition here, but alas they eventually get tagged up and ruined. There were a whole bunch done for the Olympics and for the early history of the LA Marathon but stupid baka-bakas have tagged over them and rendered them unviewable.

I love Asakusa, and all the little street around where there is no tourists/gaijin :)

Which public bath did you go ? The super sento on top of the ROX building ? (I always go for the akasuri there !) or the little old sento bath for the local where you have the 'electric bath' (very unusual experience !) ?

Want to go...just a lovely part of Tokyo, albeit a little on the touristy side. Little Tokyo is sort of the LA equivalent of this...not as impressive, but I like it nonetheless.

We stayed in Asakusabashi about two weeks ago, but did not venture up that way. We've had our intake of the "old" culture in Kyoto and Kanazawa. We spent most of the time in Akiba. It was the last 5 days of our 3.5 week stay in Japan.

Nice coverage, my last trip to Japan was very compact and didn't get to enjoy any of the scenery at all. Someday I will return, hopefully next year.
