Dollfie World

Was around the Mong Kok area looking for the Slingbox with no luck - need an NTSC ver that I can plug in back at home in Tokyo.
Remembered that Natalie's shop Dollfie World was also in the area so popped into have a lookie.

Dollfie World

Went just after 3PM where they had just opened shop. Its not a huge store but has enough for you to walk away with an extra hold in yer wallet. The Peter Pan Tinker Bell doll is quite cute - like a Nendoroid. They also has a few Dollfie Dreams that you can pick up off the shelf providing that you have the moolah.

Img ID#91768 | Flickr | New tab | Share this image | Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfie World

And they have a few Super Dollfies too.

...and more. Much of it is the same price as you will find in Japan.

And some gifts from Steps Walker and Dollfie World which arrived many moons ago that I never got round to looking at.

Dollfie World

First up is a Lightsaber that actually lights up and slices fingers off.

Dollfie World

Uses button cell batteries just like real Lightsabers.

Regarding the meetup at Dollfie World tomorrow - some of the folks in the Dollfie news report will be there.

Dollfie World

Foldable chair - useful for outings ^^

Img ID#91779 | Flickr | New tab | Share this image | Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfie World

Fold up the chair and place it inside your T-shirt discreetly. A few left at Dollfie World for 440 HK dollars.

The daughters get something big n shiny and sharp to slice n dice up bad people.

Img ID#91781 | Flickr | New tab | Share this image | Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfie World

Its so sharp that it can slice through concrete like this. Available for 320 HK dollars from Dollfie World.

Img ID#91783 | Flickr | New tab | Share this image | Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfie World

Dollfie World also sent me this Dollfie stand which comes with the standard saddle.

Img ID#91782 | Flickr | New tab | Share this image | Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfie World

Took me ages to work out why it had a hole in the middle ^^;
Then took a look at the product detail page and realized what the hole was for.

Img ID#91784 | Flickr | New tab | Share this image | Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfie World

Attach the base to a tripod like this...

Img ID#91785 | Flickr | New tab | Share this image | Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfie World

...and then get decent outdoor shots without your daughters looking like mini people all the time - the tripod and base helps raise them to a human height.

Img ID#91786 | Flickr | New tab | Share this image | Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfie World

Example of Nanoha at human height - photo would have probably looked better with more bokeh in the background.
Get this at Dollfie World for 450 HK dollars.

And how about those poses where your girls are lying on their belly? Their heads cant tip up far enough because of the default neck joint.

Img ID#91789 | Flickr | New tab | Share this image | Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfie World

Dollfie World has these replacement joints for daughters who want up be able to look up at the stars while lying on their belly. This is an example of how far the neck joint goes. Does not look like a lot here but makes a huge difference.

Img ID#91788 | Flickr | New tab | Share this image | Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfie World

Replacement is simple - just loosen two screws. Available for 480 HK dollars from Dollfie World.

Img ID#91790 | Flickr | New tab | Share this image | Mouseover = load notes.
Dollfie World

And this is where we are meeting up tomorrow Saturday 20th at 3PM - Dollfie World is down stairs. We will be chatting and taking photos and wot not and have a few snacks around the corner. I need to whip off for a dinner meeting in the evening though.
The first few to arrive get a dannychoo.com lanyard ^o^

Dollfies are so lovely.Super dollfies are still a bit creepy to me but DD's are very tempting.Maybe when I get to college I'll buy a DD and make her into a custom Kyonko.^_^

SDs came first, and without SDs, there would be no DDs as we know them now~
It is however, totally understandable to find them unnerving. I'm currently a huge SD fan, and even I felt that way initially. Personally, at this point, I've found SDs to have a more elegant feel to them that many DD can't aproach(It's likely the whole animated look).

      Still, to each their own.

I like how the interview-ee deflected totally from answering the price issue of BJDs and instead quoted prices for cheaper 1/6th dolls(the sorts so popular in HK 6-8 years ago).

Although I suppose it would probably scare away prospective collectors considering getting a DD if they knew these dolls costs closer to 600 USD a pop rather than 600HKD(for a 1/6th lol)

Compaired to an SD, DDs are not too bad. But then you get high quality resin for SD, vs a vinyl-ish plastic for DDs(SDs are basically casted in small batches, whereas DDs tend to be assembly lined). Not sure how the faceup work is handled, but my guess is in house Zoukeimura faceups.

Then again, not exactly something you NEED, but awesome to collect anyway~

The faceups on DDs seem to be done by hand. At least that's the considered opinion of the faceup artist who did my MDD Namiko and my Obitsu boy Zetto's faceups. "They don't look like stencil jobs." She actually did a little fix-it work on my DD Yumiko...her lip gloss oxidized to a brownish color so she removed the gloss, not touching the pink paint underneath. So all you people owned by DDs heads up: you might have to re-gloss your daughter's lips a couple of years into the future.

Hey Danny, if you've got the time, you should give Doll Heart( http://www.dollheart.com/ ) a go. I'm not sure if you'll find anything specific, given you've had a few gos at a number of the doll events in Japan, but they make some nice doll clothes and shoes in case you're interested.

It's about 5 minutes walk from Doll World.

That part would be a bit a guess work... I know SD16 clothing works on DDs, and on that, all male SD 13 clothes should work on DDs as well. Unfortunately, as the shop caters mainly to korean dolls, it's less transparent for DD owners. If you're there in person, you could probably try them to see. But in general, if getting SD13 clothes for DD, stick to something with a loose bustline... Waist and hip fit should be fine with DDs(maybe not DyDDs), but it's very trial and error...

Thanks, I actually had the website right, just spelled it wrong in my post. I still can't find it on their site. I checked under the accessories sections and also searched for light, saber, sword, stick. Nothing to be found. Any additional help in finding this product to order would be awesome.

or could be that I'm not into Dolls in general ^^

Wow, I'm so jealous! I wish I could go there and look at all the outfits and shoes in person.

I've ordered from DW before and been very happy so far! I've got that folding chair -- when my Yuki Nagato DD comes (next week) she'll be sitting and reading!

Wow, I haven't been to Hong Kong in years... Next time I (or someone in my family) goes, I'll need to have them pick stuff up for me. :D

Love the TV broadcast though, may have to send it to my parents to help them understand.
