Hong Kong Trip

Leaving for Hong Kong in a bit and am very much looking forward to the trip. Its always nice to discover and experience different cultures.
This first photo was taken back in 2006-ish when I was over for a trip with Microsoft.

The reason I'm over in HK is because I've been invited over by the DotAsia Organisation who are the official production partner for the 4th AFA (Asian Film Awards). The event is being held on the 22nd and I've been given an iron man briefcase which gives me access to some of the celebs. A list of some of the folks I'll be mingling with on this page.

Jackie Chan is on the list but apparently not 100% confirmed yet - me want a piccy with Jackie Kor Kor. Whos your fave Asian actor/actress and who should I be on the look out for to ask questions and snap photos? Video of the event from last year - so many cute actresses ^^;

Dollfie World is a famous doll store in Hong Kong located at the Ginza Plaza. The owner Natalie together with Stepswalker have kindly arranged a gathering of doll owners for me this Saturday 3pm at Dollfie World. If you would like to come along then feel free to do so - if you have a daughter then bring her along too! You need not be interested in dolls to come along - but if you cant stand the sight of them then it may be not your thing ^^;
Address: Shops B29-B30, B50 B/F Ginza Plaza, 2A Sai Yeung Choi Street South, Mongkok, Hong Kong.

We plan to hang around the shop and then go for some yummy grub after.

This is the place you should be looking for. Photo snapped by Stepswalker. See you there at 3PM!

Currently packing my essentials for the trip. Can only take one daughter and not sure who ^^;
Have asked the relatives to feed the rest of the daughters at least twice a day ^^;

      I dunno, Hong Kong's aesthetics look too busy to me.

      Even in the most crowded places in Japan, things seem to have their own breathing room.

      That's just me though.

        if thats how you really feel, you definitely should stay away from hk. always crowded, air is polluted. i once thought it was so hot that i sweat black, but its from the pollution and humidity. no joke the sweat was black. BLACK! but i still love it there.

        If you go to HK, I suggest you to stay at Nathan hotel, on nathan road.. I ve stay there in november/december.. and it was very cool.. Nathan road is a big shopping street ^^ with a lot of restaurant too :-P

        for the price of the hotel, well, maybe a little bit expensif, but I had some promotion on it

        I've been to Hong Kong several times. Its like my hometown sort of thing (parents are from HK).

        I've stayed at Hotel Miramar which was ok. I've also stayed at Royal Plaza Hotel which has a really nice location along with a mall downstairs (which i went and saw Deathnote in theaters). I'm not sure, but I think I have stayed at the Nathan hotel before as well. I usually try to stay at hotels close to shopping districts like Mong Kok and stuff. I might try staying at Marco Polo (one of them) or something this year. I've always wanted to try Peninsula. There's a new hotel called Noah's or something themed after Noah's ark.

    Seeing pictures like these, really makes me wish I knew a thing or 2 about photography. The best phots I take are on my canona590's auto settings. Those usually come out pretty shoddy too.

    Get Jackie to teach you some moves you can use in the armor. Like how to run up a wall and land on your back, but recover into a spinning head stand flip kind of thing. YEA!

    If they are there you should try to get picture of/with EITA, Matsumoto Hitoshi, and Jay Chou because they're all awesome and you should tell them that. lol. But really, you should just get pictures of as many celebs as you can so we can all flail with joy.

    Have a fun and safe trip!

      I think you'll find that it's only attached to the building on the right. If you look super closely at the bottom of the ad (where the smaller pictures of the cameras are), you can tell that the wires are only extending to the right side of the banner ^__^

    I'm really loving this picture. I'm an undergrad (economics) who is pursuing a semester abroad in Hong Kong next school year (I wanted Japan, but there were no English-speaking programs). Just got my professor recommendations, super excited! Hong Kong would be amazing.

    love... I mean LOVE Hong Kong. A great place for all sorts of people. I consider myself decently well rounded and I would choose Hong Kong over Seoul, Tokyo, NYC, LA, Dallas, Bangkok, Phuket, Houston, and Boston.

    Hate to plug stuff but it shows it is worth it. "HK: One Days" by Wong Fu Productions. It is on Youtube. It is a nice mix of multicultural perspective, universal themes and Asian American styles all with Hong Kong as the backdrop.

    Get back to me with what you think. I would like to know but I don't get on DannyChoo that often.
