Trading Card Game

I've always known about the existence of TCG (Trading Card Games) but didn't really know much about them.
Through my work, I came into contact with Bushi Road - the biggest TCG maker in Japan. We first met at the AFA in Singapore last month.

Trading Card Game

Have never really been a card game person but cards with cute 2D girlies sounds like something right up my alley.

Trading Card Game

The bunch of cards I have are plastered with popular anime licenses.

Img ID#85369 | Flickr | New tab | Share this image | Mouseover = load notes.
Trading Card Game

Each of the cards have different abilities like "Make Coffee", "Buy Potatoes" and "clean frosted glass."

Img ID#85371 | Flickr | New tab | Share this image | Mouseover = load notes.
Trading Card Game

Bushi Road also do a load of booster packs where you can add more abilities to your platoon of cards. I like the Power Pantsu, Bouncing Buttocks and Overpowering Oppai abilities.

Img ID#85372 | Flickr | New tab | Share this image | Mouseover = load notes.
Trading Card Game

Some of the packs come with a sheet where the battles take place. Here we have a set of Queens Blade. Was looking for Airi and realized shes in another pack which I don't have ToT.

Trading Card Game

Mmmmmm. Arein.
The cards are made of sturdy card meaning that you should be able to fling them at burglars and slice off their ears.

Trading Card Game

How about some climax action backstage or in the waiting room?

Img ID#85375 | Flickr | New tab | Share this image | Mouseover = load notes.
Trading Card Game

Have not played a single game yet and haven't the foggiest on how to play. Can anybody use the annotation tools and let us know whats going on here and how to play? Some TCG action below.

Trading Card Game

Until I get opponents to play against, for now I'm going to appreciate the cards and cases as collectibles. Been using the Dacapo case for business cards ^^;

There is a huge TCG population in Japan and quite a healthy following in Singapore and Malaysia too.

Here we see a load of TCG battles going on at some championships. I want those small Nobori flags on the table.

More licenses that you are probably familiar with.

Something for the ladies too.

I've actually been playing the Pokemon TCG in America since I was 5 years old. xD At one point I was one of the judges for regional and state championships here in California, but since then I've stopped attending tournaments so much. I'm currently running a Pokemon league in my home town and have been for the past 5 or 6 years now.

I wish I knew how the anime-centric TCGs worked, but alas, I don't know enough Japanese to even begin learning a Japanese-language TCG, not yet at least. I do love them as collectibles though. :p I've been trying to figure out a way to get my hands on the deck boxes and some cards from certain series; it's far too difficult to get that stuff when you live in the US. =/

I was a bit interested with Pokemon cards back then but not anymore. Here in my country TCGs are a bit popular (mostly with the middle and upper classes). They mostly play "Magic: The Gathering", Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh and Warcraft.

I might collect the Kamen Rider Ganbaride cards~

gordon , since you're in singapore , drop by the card geeks at sunshine plaza or black tactical at bedok , they sell the cards there , but the card geeks are better.
alternatively , you can ask danny to send some over to you too lol.
Weiss schwarz is also an anime , 1X eps, each lasting 5 mins.
the gameplay is sophisticated and intense , i recommend ppl to play this game.

It's a pity so many of the source cards are licensed from not very well known characters as far as a Western Market goes. I doubt we'll ever see things like Nanoha cards and Little Busters cards in English simply due to lack of knowledge for the characters... :(

the idea: print the translations, cut, and stick em on your card sleeves. that sleeve will now act as a protector and translator at the same time :3

Oooohhh I once got addicted to Pokemon TCG. I have the so called "Rain Dance Deck" because of Blastoise and that powerful Pokemon Power. Not really that good due to the fact that I got beaten by my own deck when my friend and I (who was much better than me) swapped decks for fun XD. Actually he got lucky because he got the best possible hand: Blastoise, Squirtle, Pokemon Trader, another Pokemon I can't remember, a couple of energy cards XD.

I was a hugely obsessed fan of Yu-Gi-Oh! and have amassed a collection that is worth 10000 SGD or more in my 5 years of collecting. After 5D came out, I gave up and never went back into any card collecting, though I still keep all my Yu-Gi-Oh! cards and Pokemon cards due to sentimental value.

Instead, I now collect figures, which on hind sight, is much more expensive a hobby...

    I collected Pokemon cards when I was a child. (Un?)Fortunately, we were poor, so I couldn't buy that many cards. Still managed to amass a few albums worth though... I was evil even as a child; tricking other children into ridiculous trades. ^^;;

Then every anime/game/etc. started producing trading cards, and at that point, I pretty much stopped playing. I do play video game versions of Yu-Gi-Oh and the good old GBC Pokemon TGC every once in a while.

    I do still play

I've been playing card games since I was a tiny lad, way before I even new about anime/manga. Even though I was by no means rich I spent a LOT of money on cards. I haven't bought any new cards in quite some time but I still enjoy playing Yu-Gi-Oh! & Poke'mon every once and a while. It's funny that kids buy all these new cards with all these new rules but I can still destroy them with the "Grandpa" cards regardless. lol

Used to play Pokemon with my brother, bought a Yugioh deck once which was kind of a bust since I didn't know anybody who played, got into Magic: The Gathering thanks to my cousins. I like Magic the Gathering a lot more than the other two for a few reasons.
1: No card maximum, 60 card deck minimum
2: Very well thought out rules and in game abilities (add the zany "Un" blocks to the mix and you have even more fun)
3: You can actually shuffle the cards without splitting them in half!

collected pokemon back then as a kid but never knew how to play them. Played yugioh for about 2 years then stopped heard from friends that all the old good yugioh cards are banned. I'm not much into TCG and it also costs a butt load of munny to build a really good deck too as I've seen what my friends are spending just to get a card. They could've just went to ebay or any online store selling single cards to get the card they needed though instead of buying a whole box of boosters and not getting what they wanted XD

    Ended yugioh in two years

I played Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG since high school...though I hated how the US version had censorship on some of the cards so I collected the Japanese ones and downloaded the translations so I have a mixed deck of of English and Japanese...

I'd totally would love to learn the Queen's Blade TCG...if they can have an English version without censorship, that would be perfect...

Been a fan of the trading card game/industry since Pokemon convinced me to fork out £2.50 per pack of 11 cards lol. Now its 9! So thats even suckier lol. Yet somehow I slipped back into the game the year before last.... bought loads of new ones and learnt the new rules.

I would so go for some of those Aquaplus cards..... Card games are fun, but alas, I have no one to play em with......

Played quite a few TCG in the past. These games seems to play a lot like the old Overpower game from the look of it, but could be wrong.

Can't remember all the games I played. Key ones I remember are Overpower, Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh.

I have a lot of anime cards not part of a card game though.

Collected Pokemon cards (all the original 150), played MTG casually throughout middle school, and then played Yu-gi-oh! competitively for a bit. 2nd place in tourney, yay!

Not into TCGs anymore now. Quite ironic since I actually have the money now to build all my ideal decks, meh.

I play Magic: the Gathering if that's really anything to brag about. Just hit the 100$ mark on the amount of money I've spent on the ~10000 card collection I have.
Yu-Gi-Oh, at least from what I can remember, was a huge hit over here. Didn't realize Pokemon was before YGO as kids couldn't understand the rules of the game.
Oh, then there was that "Bakugan" game. As I don't watch TV, I've never seen commercials for it, whenever I go into a store, I see empty shelves with the words "Bakugan" printed on the price markers. I asked a friend about it and apparently it was a card game (according to his little brother, who came rushing in and for some reason screamed "You don't know what Bakugan is?!" into my left ear).

I'm never a fan of trading card nor its fun to play with but I did have friend who played TCG. Recently TCG have been dying down in Malaysia. I heard from my friend that a power card he own can sell at a ridiculous price back when it was popular but now even a few buck no one want to consider to purchase it.

    I felt sad for him.

This is where I turn into a Cranky Old Ma (TM), who remembers when the Shivan Dragon was the most powerful Red card, back when Black Lotus was still legal in tournaments. I started out with MTG, borrowing a friend's Red-White deck (I didn't have enough money to buy a booster in those days, let alone a starter). Card games came and went since then, and by the time I was working, Magic Cards and tournaments had become ridiculous--so I took the safer hobby path: GUNPLA.

The only one that ever caught my interest after MTG would be Aquarian Age.

I can't imagine trying to keep up with more than one TCG, I'm having a hard enough time getting and keeping caught up with Magic the Gathering. I lost interest after high school and didn't get back into it until recently with some of my co-workers. It makes me feel like an old man, saying phrases like 'Back in my day...' and/or 'They introduced that in [7+ year old expansion]' at least once or twice every game.

I wouldn't mind getting some of the TCGs up above if just to collect them, I think not being able to play would make them less addicting.

I play Magic the Gathering since maybe 6 years. I don't participate in tournaments, I only play for fun at work and with friends. It's a fun social activity (Mostly the only one I do, actually). But it's easy to waste lot of cash building decks since it's so fun.

I have an almost complete collection of Fate / stay night trading cards(Weiss Schwarz cards). I bought 2 booster boxes. I still miss maybe 8 cards, I would a website to order them but I would need to use a proxy service. It would cost me way too much for 8 cards. The cards themselves were 4500 yen for the 8 cards.

Used to play Magic: The Gathering myself, but I'm just a casual gamer now with some "fun" decks. The amount of cards you have to work with now is staggering.

Card games are a continuing arms race. With a new set coming out every other month or so for different games, what may be useful today might not be so in the next expansion. Trying to catch up gets pretty difficult, and most of the time only the richest people can afford to do so, hence the power decks that come around. It gets to you after a while, especially when a deck you thought out for a long time gets decimated by some guy with a deck he just saw on the net and bought cards for.

I think most of these people need to get out and do some physical recreational activities rather than play these adolescence games. Sure, there's strategy but you aren't going to impress anyone especially the ladies.

This is why card players are always looked down on in the U.S.

I can easily imagine some of the anime licensed CCG's making a tidy profit in these parts. But the catch is they'd have a hard time toppling the legendary Magic:The Gathering. After many years, I even started a club in my office for Magic and we've held a few tournaments as well.

The biggest anime-licensed game to make it big outside Pokemon and Yugi-Oh (which are big but nowhere close to Magic) is .hack when it was still going strong. Sadly Project .hack has since faded into obscurity around North America - the second set of PS2 games didn't make a dent in the market.

I used to play decipher's star wars ccg 10 years ago. then came the licencing issues due to the first movie and they stopped producing it. the community here gradually died out thereafter.

I had wanted to get you to sign one of my stormtropper cards but didnt get the chance during afa as i was working :(

There's actually an anime on one of the card games by Bushi Road...Weiss Schwarz. It's called Weiss Survive (and the sequel's called Weiss Survive R). Really short. 3 minutes per episode. I think it's meant for mobile phone screening in Japan or something. Mentioning in case anyone's interested. XD

[Passive] Assist: All character cards in front of this card have their power added by +500.
[Auto] [1] When there's a climax during your character's Trigger Check, and that card has the [door] icon, pay the cost. Then choose 1 of your opponent's Level 1 or lower character and send it to the Waiting Room.

Seeker of ways to return to Tokyo soon.

I would have gotten into these kinds of card games if there were hot anime girls on them but we had 'Magic; The Gathering' games back then.I never got into it cause it was super difficult to understand and play back when I was 16.But I would watch all the nerdy dorks at my high school play it and get nerd-gasms when they`d win.
