Dancing Dollfie

Up until now, dolls generally move when humans are not around - but not anymore.
Dancing Doll-san brought his daughter along to today's Dollpa - she was playing the guitar and walking up n down the table.
Check out the Dancing Doll site and click on movie in the top nav to see more videos of her strutting her stuff.
Her name is Alice (亜里栖 (アリス)) and is an eternal 15 years old. Alice is made up from 25 servo motors and a Viston processing unit. Battery is a 6.0v+4.8v. She also comes with 2 gyro and 3 accelerator sensors.

Awesome ^_^ looking forward for mirai dancing like that danny

that's quite cool! looks expensive though! Very functional and looks more very human compared to most movable figurines/toys out there.

Looks, very impressive. Wish I had the capital and engineering expertise to do that. Love the way it walks.

I smiled when I read that her name was Alice. That's just who I was thinking of when I read about a moving Dollfie. Alice from Touhou the doll collecting puppeteer. (:
Can't view the video at my work but I will check it out when I get home. Sounds so cool. ^_^

lol thats the first thing that came to my mind, Alice Margatroid...xD
But yeah if i could make something similar, my lifelong dream will actually come true.

I saw the video you posted on YouTube before I got here. But if it ever goes into production, I definitely want one. My wife will just need to get used to the idea! LOL

Oh... My... God... I just went to Dancing Doll's site. The video that Danny posted does not do this work of art justice. You need to click on the guy's movie link. Trust me, you'll be amazed as well!

wonder what it looks like under it's clothes. my guess is that it's wearing full body clothing because it doesn't look as good as a stationary dollfie :|

I clicked on the "dairy" on Dancing Doll-san's page and it shows what she looks like without clothes. Particularly, her arms and waist. Not sure if that's with her skin off or not but she looks very mechanical.
He is very talented to make something like this.
Also, saw some Rozen Maiden cosplay on his Alice doll. Cute! ^_^
still trying to figure it out...

is this the future? our daughters will be able to move and play the guitar, awesome~!

She looks way better playing the guitar than when she's walking. Her walk still looks very stiff.

This remind me of Rozen Maiden who are able to move around with their doll bodies. I miss that show.
Really cool if every doll owner are able to make their daughters to move like that. It will be a sight of awe.
If you are free try this "mute the video then open Don't say lazy from K-On".

must have taken the guy quite a long time and lots of moolah to do the doll.. if these ever go into production.. i bet that it will cost a bomb!

That's pretty cool! The walk cycle's not right, but then again getting bipedal robots to walk naturally has been a thorn in the robotics industry's side for years.

OK, so she's NOT a Dollfie Dream with a motorized endoskeleton! She looks more like he raided some ball joint doll or another for the head and hands.
I actually did sync up "Don't say lazy" to your video in iMovie but it's not a real good match for the movement. I don't think I'll post the result on YouTube -- it sorta sucks.
I saw someone with a mechanized DD in a video somewhere but I wasn't able to find it another time.

This is pretty interesting. Putting robotic servos in her makes her joints kinda bulky, but it's a cool concept! Wonder if she can Hare Hare Yukai?
???Confused???
Awesome...musta cost the guy an arm an a leg to put that together...but heck I'd buy if they sell...

That's amazing, soon all dollfies should come industry standard with the ability to move.

A dancing Mimi! OMG! :O I just love the way she moves her arms and head, so natural! But still I can imagine my babies moving like that, mmm. I think I prefer them to be static :P
(For the people who don't know, the hands and the head are from a Volks Super Dollfie Mimi, made of resin http://www.angelden.net/volks/sd10/mimi-08renewal.php)

No wonder they let her in! Of course, it's a Dollpa, she'd have to be a Volks of some sort.
Oh yeah, if anyone has the song handy, Boom Boom Pow by the Black Eyed Peas might actually work in the background of this video. However, I don't have the song lying around, so some other videogeek should try this.

The dancing Dollfie looks great, nice on that sensors she can move w/out wire attach on her back,he hide the engines too, what a remarkable DD.The leg is like a wood or something but superb cuteness & mech works ^|||^

A dancing dollfie is very interesting; I best it's pretty expensive for the tech that is put into the mechanics of the dancing.

Give 5 years and some dedicated R&D, and there could be servos and joints that will fit into a DD body form. I'd so like to see a Dollfie that could move and respond, even if it was all canned programing like an I-sobot.
Student, part-time worker
That is insane. I'd be too worried about it falling over or off the table (on to a concrete floor?) to even want to do that though.

Reason #23 for me to get a Dollfie:
- New electronics project.
boxy legs. ^^ nonetheless she looks cool.
speaking of moving dolls, saw some doll drawn rickshaws the other day. though the dolls looked more like cloth rag dolls, I thought they would better if they were dollfie inspired instead.

That's really cool, I was looking at photos on the creator's site and all the parts are robotic parts except the doll head and hands, but with the choice of clothing it's pretty discreet. I like the videos of her dancing! It's cute!

Done some more poking...this is a modified Femisapien by WowWee. This has become a favorite of the Robohacking community. And yeah, the guts of her head look like they could fit directly into, say, an Obitsu 60cm head.
My Obitsu boy got hand transplants because the previous owner of his bod let him get stained from black clothes. Naughty doll-parent. Naughty naughty. So I already have hands for a Femisapien hack. Obitsu Haruka or Obitsu Gretel head is very reasonable. I might go the Haruka route because my boy has a Gretel head with a masculine faceup. I want a little differentiation here.
A common mod is to give the Femisapien eyes. I'm thinking mod a pair of red acrylics with a hole drilled in the center of each pupil to allow for red LED to be installed. The Femisapien body looks an awful lot like a Plugsuit so I might actually leave that part of her as is.
