Illustrator Kurot is in town and she stopped by the office last week. While she was here, I got her to do an illustration of Mirai-chan - most impressed that she not only managed to draw this in about 8 minutes with a marker pen - but also managed to do it under interrogation!
Also filmed her while she drew this which you can watch below.

Kurot is a shy lady ^^;
She hails from Vancouver and is in town for work and will also be at the Comiket later this month selling copies of her latest Doujin.

Went out for the evening with wifey and Kurot to have some Yakiniku. Om nom nom as they say on the Internets. Does anybody know the origins of "om nom nom" ?

A sneek peek at what Kurot is working on for me ^o^
Pantsu version for now and fully clothed soon.

Img ID#83564 | Flickr | New tab | Mouseover = load notes.

And for those who forgot - Kurot is the one who done this for me. Very cute Mirai-chan with tears in her eyes. Kurot told me the reason for the tears - can you guess what it is? ^^;

Img ID#83571 | Flickr | New tab | Mouseover = load notes.

And how about my illustrations? Done this many moons ago ^^;
Drew this from looking at photos that I took from trips to Tokyo. Has a combination of Shinjuku and Akihabara. The boy is me and girl is Nishida Hikaru - the girl I was in lurve with ^^; You can read about how I chased after her on roller blades with a bunch of flowers in this article ^^;

Img ID#83572 | Flickr | New tab | Mouseover = load notes.

More of my pencil work from aaaages ago ^^; you can kinda see some more of my illustrations on the wall in the photos in the early years article.
If you do any illustrations, feel free to share your deviants, pixiv or url to your work in the comments.

    Very nice artwork... And that kissing scene around the Tokyo area was very nicely done by you Danny... =) I couldn't even draw that kinda picture if i wanted too lol

    Om Nom Nom, if i'm not wrong, is from the blue Cookie Monster from Sesame Street, where he always grabs a cookie and goes Om Nom Nom Nom... Haha, i guess that's where it is from, correct me if i'm wrong though, cause this term seems to be used almost everywhere on the net...

    And Mirai-chan cryin because she is finally getting animated and drawn, or maybe even thanking you Danny for creating her and her sisters =p

    Very awesome!
    I need someone like Kurot to give my blog a mascot... though my blog still lacks dedication to be worthy of someone this good. :P
    She has a very awesome moe style that seems to have become her trademark, which is the sole thing that separates pro illustrators from amateur ones IMO.
    Danny's illustrations are pretty good too. I'm no good at it... could never get proportions right.

    Anyways, about OM NOM NOM, the first time I saw it was on a pic with a tree that looked like it was eating a fence. It's previous to LOLCats, but I can't find it nowadays anymore.

    I have it somewhere stashed on one of my image backup DVDs... will write a post on it if I manage to find it.

      After reading comments, I think Takahashi88 has the answer. It's from the blue Cookie Monster of Sesame Street.
      The tree image that I was talking about was done because it resembles him.

    I loved watching Kurot draw, I always seem to make some goof when drawing with permanent media(markers, pen) when I don't do a pencil guide first. Though if I really concentrate I can do well, I just haven't drawn like that in so long. Always like seeing how artist have progressed. I look back at some of my old work and think it's so bad now, when at the time I thought it was SO great! It's cute now looking back.
    Now that I work full time it's hard to find a lot of time to work on my art. I had to find work outside of my art just to make money. Art is most important to me, but it seems like it was hard for me to break in to it. But it's okay, because I haven't given up and seeing other artist I admire work gives me motivation.

        Agreed!! It's probably just the optimism, but I like to believe that with enough practice and belief in one's self, there's nothing a person can't do. ^^;;

    Love her drawings. They are very good. Yeah Nom Nom was from Cookie Monster. Watched for a long time when I was a kid. Cookie Monster was my favourite. Sesame Street is 40 years old so is Cookie Monster. He stuffs his face with cookies and goes Oh Nom Nom Nom

    As a former deviantart user ( im still in DA but rarely now ) What Ms. Kurot stated was the truth and nothing but the whole truth itself. Keep practicing, have a chat with certain artists, accept critics, accept change and by the end of a certain session you will learn something to enhance your capabilities towards art may it be manga style, painting on canvas etc.

    A quick history of 'OM NOM NOM':

    Back in 2007 ago while I was lurking around 4chan, Anonymous posted a screenshot of Nishizawa Ayumu (Hayate no Gotoku) along with the text 'OM NOM NOM'. This was due to the fact she was not a main chara yet and was merely shown quick 10-20sec cameo shots of her always eating something delicious.
    Ayumu quickly became known an 'OM NOM NOM tan' during S1 of HnG.

    Just like caturday originated from 4chan, the phrase OM NOM NOM has quickly spread over the internets and has become a popular internet meme

    Whether OM NOM NOM had any remote reference to the Cookie Moster is unknown. IMHO, it is merely a coincidence that Anon used the same phrase as the Cookie Monster.

    Amazing. It'd take me at least 2 hours to draw something that beautiful and even then it wouldn't have that Kurot factor :3

    wow 12 years! that's indeed love of drawing.
    It's been probably about 12 years or a little longer since I first started drawing myself, but I've been on and off for such huge periods of time that I probably only have about a year or little over a year of drawing experience under my belt. That is to say, my drawing still sucks lol.

    Her level of skill is really something to aspire for though, especially after seeing her improve and improve so much to what she can do today. I love her current style! punipuni de kawaii!

    I'll be brave and share my URL: http://joey1058.deviantart.com Don't expect award winning art, however. It's one of those "it's in my head and it's gotta come out" kind of sites.

    Such an awesome perspective there danny~

    Who she draw fast..

    If i were to draw, it would prolly take me 8 hours or even 8 days instead :)

    12 years? no wonder she rocks~

    for me it's been 6 years of drawing but it still sucks, not that i'm seeking improvement anyway :)

    Very impressive - drawing from scratch, no base sketching. She's definitely spent more time drawing than I have.

    I have much to improve on!
