DSi LL

Damn. I'm a sucker for new Nintendo DS's - looks like I'll be on the hunt for the new DSi LL.
Almost exactly one year since the DSi was released in Japan, Nintendo have announced a new version of the console: the DSi LL. This is the fourth version of the DS, and its selling point is its large screen. At 4.2 inches, the LL's screen is a full inch larger than the regular DSI, and 1.2 inches larger than the screen on the DS Lite. Of course, a larger screen means that the console itself is larger than its older brothers, but they've managed to use the extra size to increase battery life (compared to the DSi... it's still not as long as the DS Lite).
You can read more detailed comparisons between the DSi LL, DSi and DS Lite at Kotaku.
The DSi LL will be released in Japan on November 21 for 20,000 yen, and will come in three colours: Dark Brown, Natural White and Wine Red.

It looks to be about as big as the original Nintendo DS, and in that case, it'll fit in my side pockets just fine.
Too bad the colors are boring (the best looking one is the white one). I'd be all over that if there was one in blue!

I'll be getting it even though I already have a DSi. I need it to complete my Nintendo hardware collection ^^;

Either that or Nintendo finally loosens up and removes region locking.

With a few import and US games, I think I'm going to stick with my Lite. What's nice is that, some of my games *COUGH*SUPERROBOTTAISEN*COUGH* still use Slot-2 unlockables. I still have some GBA games that need finishing. Too bad the DSi LL doesn't come with free regions and a GBA slot. ALL-IN-ONE NOW!

I don't see the point of buying the DSi LL if it just has a bigger screen, bigger body, a bit heavier and has a ugly stylus. NEED TECHNICAL CHANGES!

Basically new Technology means lighter weight and less expensive . Not to mention , Higher Resolution .
DSI LL 's Resolution hasn't change one bit according to stats http://kotaku.com/5392444/

In this case, it means none of those things. It's more expensive than a DSi, heavier by 100 grams and, as you say, has an unchanged screen resolution. This is a pure form factor adjustment, but a welcome one (for me, at least) nonetheless.
still trying to figure it out...

Well, since I stuck with the DS Lite, this would be a nice upgrade for me. I'd probably get it if the camera was better than the DSi's. But the larger screens and internally build programs are very alluring.

I'll consider getting one. I'd expect the larger screen to help with writing kanji for lookup in Kanji Sonomama and improve general readability in these text heavy RPGs and visual novel style games that I'm starting to look at. That is unless they just blew up the screen with the same pixel count. Then things will just look chunky.
... Which may be the case after looking at the picture in the article a bit closer. I'll reserve judgment until I see one in stores or at least a review.
naah,.. Got the regular dsi just a few months ago... I think that'll suffice.

The DS Lite still wins in terms of battery life so I'll be sticking to that.
I'm more curious to see what the real DS successor that is rumoured to come out next year with Nvidia's Tegra chip can do.

I know I happen to have long enough fingers, but my girlfriend has much smaller hands... O.o I wonder how this would affect things. I've been holding out for a DSi until they fixed the battery issue--I often go for long treks without charging, so it would be a major issue for me. It looks like they might have increased it to almost the capacity of the DS lite, which makes me happy, despite the added weight to my pack, because it means more game time. The added weight doesn't bother me (I had a gameboy back in 1990 ^^;), but the size might, because it would mean that I'd have to switch out my EDC to make room for it, and possibly leave some things out, but that's just life. I think I'll buy this one if the battery life is indeed increased. :3 Not sure about my girlfriend though, she might not want to weight if she gets the money soon (she's holding out for pink).

Wow. This is why I wait for time to do its work. I am planning to buy an Ipod Touch in the near and distant future but they keep on having better products come out every several months. (I was expecting a camera with the new Ipod Touch Gen but none...yet) I have a DS Lite and I'm not buying another newer one, because I have one already and I know there will always be something better in the future so I'm trying to do the best with the stuff I have already. Just imagine what new technologies we will have in 2010; it seems like forever in tech time but in reality, it won't be long until we get there.
Can't wait for those new games that come out next year, like SMG2 and HG/SS PKMN.

Blah! Another DS version?! Why can't they stick with what made the DS Lite so good?! Doesn't help either that the colors are horrid except for white because that's what my Lite is.
I don't buy many handhelds or any consoles as I know more new ones will come out and upgrade versions of old ones come out. I'm still happy with my DS Phat and PSP 2000 Silver Slim

Ok now I'm tempted... I didn't consider the DSi because my DS lite served its purpose but now this is looking good. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to qualify as a portable device in my books... still with a much bigger screen, the pros outweigh the cons!
The pixels are four times bigger, than on the iPhone. The DSi LL good for elders. A bit better as PDA for me.

The bigger screen is definitely a plus for the games that requires precision. $220 seems a bit unreasonable though, so I might wait a while for a price drop. :/

Pros- yay large screen!
Cons- agh too big! Who has that large of a pocket?!?
Still no upgrade of camera and gb support
horrid color choices
My theory: Wait for Super NDS to come out! Which will feature gb support, camera, bettah graphics, the 'forever battery life' pack, and available in all colors of the rainbow. Super NDS is reported to be available in the year NEVAH. -_- ...Seriously, even though I'm addicted to Nintendo DS, this is an epic fail in my crazy little world. No offence to the NDS lovers reading, Im just thinking that the multitude of NDS available is being a wee bit blown out of proportion. Anyone with me?

Already own a DS and a DS lite. I don´t see any meaning in getting yet another DS. That has worse batterytime to boot.
I´d rather have them release the DS games so that they could be played on a normal TV instead of the small screen. But that defeats the whole purpose of the DS so :p
I want some motivation to pick up handheld gaming again. So many good games that I haven´t finished.

Nintendo's products have such a short life span that I refuse to buy another Gameboy ever again. Every time you have the latest there’s a new one or a newer color just around the corner. It's so frustrating.

I'm a sucker for new technology, but only if it's got better form factor. This unfortunately, is the exact opposite of what refining technology is supposed to do.
