I'm currently looking for somebody who fits the following description - have you seen him or her. Or maybe you are him or her?

  • Has experience using Photoshop or Fireworks for website mockups.
  • Has experience with Flash.
  • Is able to work remotely via mail, phone, or Skype.
  • Has a Paypal account which I would pay you through.
  • Would like to work with top name Japanese brands in the anime, figure and merchandising business.
  • Can work with Japanese fonts (not not necessarily able to read it)
  • Is able to work with little direction.
  • Is familiar with terms such as Breadcrumbs, Landing Pages, Conversion, Above the Fold.
  • Does not matter whether you work on Mac or Windows.

Folks who think they fit the description and would be interested in working with my company Mirai Inc, please create 3 mockups for the dannychoo.com top page.
  • One mockup is for new visitors - a landing page such as the one at Flickr.
  • One mockup is for casual visitors who visit DC a few times a week. These users are mainly interested in my updates.
  • Final mockup is for readers who visit the top page every day. These users are generally interested in all content like Live Bloggers, photo articles, member news.
  • The three types of top page will be set by a cookie so that users can choose to flip between the 3. When a cookie is not set, a user will automatically see the landing page for new users.

Please send mocks to [support at dannychoo dot com] or post on figure.fm. One of the requirements is to work with little guidance so the above bullets are all the information I'm giving you ^^;
Would love to having something by Tuesday JST but anytime after is fine too.
The mockups are required to establish your ability to deliver an attractive and practical UI. Commission based work will proceed after.
The designers who work with us will be required to sign an NDA due to the nature of the work involved with my clients.

Superstars may be offered jobs in Tokyo (late 2010) and my company will sponsor your visa. I don't care what qualifications you have but unfortunately you at least need a university degree which is a requirement by the Japanese government in order for me to sponsor your visa.

I will also be looking to hire a full time developer in January next year and will post details soon.
Will also be considering intern positions in 2010 for folks who can either illustrate cute n yummy anime girls, code (PHP, MYSQL, JQuery), Program Management (fancy word for project manager). Interns will require a good command of Japanese language (spoken and written).

Priority is given to dannychoo.com readers as they already know the brand and understand the field that I work in.

Are you looking for full time or part time work in the anime, manga industry?

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

If you don't have much time now, maybe subscribe to the RSS Feed, Twitter Feed or join the other readers in the FaceBook Page.
Alternatively, you may want to read more about the site.
If you are a regular reader then this message will probably annoy you each time - hide it forever.

This item was posted in the Japan category. You can see more of everything else or subscribe via RSS instead.

Would love to work for Mirai, but the graphic design is not my strong point.
    I'm a website programmer (PHP,mysql,Python), but I'm very 青い yet ^^u...

Certainly, I'ld want to work in a manga/anime/videogames ambient (who wouldn't love to work with what one likes?) and the three doesn't exist in these lands, so I'm trying to pursue my dreams in japan.

btw, for the working visa you are required to have an university degree on the same area as your sponsor? I always thought that you can't work as a designer if you have e.g. a optic technician degree, is that so? :mm

  • Omg, I would love to apply. In Portugal the unemployment rate is increasing every day. It's awesome when I see proposals like this, specialy on the internet, where the university degrees don't matter, just the talent.

Unfortunately my degree is about learning languages, producing texts, learn how to think critically and know more about culture of the times. I think i don't fit despite of loving to work with the anime industry.

From now on i'll be working hard on learning more about web design.

I'm not a lawyer but a degree is not the only way to work in Japan if you have a lot of experience performing the job.
About engineer visa (from mofa dot go dot jp):
The applicant must have graduated from or completed a college or acquired equivalent education majoring in the subject relevant to the skills and/or knowledge necessary for performing the job concerned, or the applicant must have at least 10 years' experience (including the period of time spent studying the relevant skills and knowledge at college, "Kotosenmongakko", senior high school, the latter half of unified secondary school, or during specialized course of study at an advanced vocational school ("Senshugakko")).
