Microsoft Japan

Japan Probe has two vids of how live demonstrations of Windows 7 failed with grace on live Japanese TV.
First up is the evening news - the zooming stuff no work desu. Rather amusing - "It turns like this" and nothing happens.
Then its the morning news - they flip to a recording of Windows 7 working when the one in the studio fails.
If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.
If you don't have much time now, maybe subscribe to the RSS Feed, Twitter Feed or join the other readers in the FaceBook Page.
Alternatively, you may want to read more about the site.
If you are a regular reader then this message will probably annoy you each time - hide it forever.

For some reason, "the zooming stuff no work desu" cracked me up!!! I attribute it to being up at 2 in the morning.
Oh, and the videos were funny too!

Haha, that is embarassing.. epic fail on national television

haha exactly, what more do we expect from Microsoft though, the company that had to create a blue screen of death as they knew it would fail a LOT haha

wow I hope that's not make windows 7 fail in japan >_<
Well, Madobe Nanami makes up for it, to a certain extent. Though, I have to admit, her "Jya Jyaan"s and "Chi~n"s got annoying after a while, so I turned them off.

lol epic fail. not once but twice.
from the looks of it it was the touch screen that fail as the were still about to use the mouse.
anyways what a great way to start promoting windows 7

I read about this today on other blogs, and what I have to say is: Let's not jump to conclusions.
From what I saw, the only thing that isn't working there is the touchscreen feature.
See how the lady runs Google Earth from the keyboard.
Yes, it could be something with Windows 7, but it could as well be something with the touchscreen alone.
All in all though, Microsoft is well known for having extremely bugged OSs at launch...
Still, both XP and Vista works fine to me after the first service pack was released.
Currently running XP on desktop and Vista on lappie... no bugs, freezes or other problems like those so far.

Yup, methinks its more of a problem with the hardware, rather than the software.

Yay touch screen fail! Notice who makes those computers? It's Sony... Hmm... must be Sony plot to tarnish Microsoft's image!
http://akari-nyan.deviantart.com/
Oh so fail....XD
Tech Support/Semi-programmer XD
Most probably a touch screen fail. Either it was not supported or no drivers installed since Win 7 is still operational with a keyboard/mouse.
About that......
mmm cant blame the software all the time

Obviously not Microsoft's fault, it must be the people who set it up wrong. =P

Eh. I wouldn't exactly pin this on Windows or Microsoft in particular.

So embarrassing on the touch screen feature from Win7 or the VAIO panel hardware are at fault??

Fail much? It can be the screen or just window 7 that are not good enough to operate it. I tried Window 7 before and I must say it really have a lots of improvement from the previous OS.

Do tell me if I missheard but it seemed as if they made some kind of joke with the TV-station being particular about disliking Win7 since it doesn´t work as it should there :p
I´d also like to say false drivers and thus fail. Mouse works just fine. Why they wanted to show of a touchscreen that large though is out of my mind. Show the system instead for focusing on some of the features.
I can´t wait for my copy of Win7 to get home so I can install it over this RC.

does anyone actually use touchscreens for desktop computing much? - a mouse and keyboard is fine too.

Btw.: I just installed Windows 7 Os-tan xD The sounds are awesome. I also published it in my Blog for Download. Please be gentle x'D. Don't crash it. ^_^"

Not surprising really. The multitouch was always temperamental. There was a video of a microsoft demonstrator being unable to get the feature to work while demonstrating back when it was still RC. and that was on the BBC website!!!

I'm very happy with my Windows 7, but this must have been very embarrassing for Microsoft XD
Seem to work just fine and most of the problem was with the touch screen. I don't use a touch screen so it doesn't really matter to me.

That must have been very embarrassing! But I think the problem is in the touchscreen feature. In the second video, the lady was able to open a file with the mouse.
I'll wait a bit more before I upgrade to Win7. You know, to give Microsoft time to fix bugs and stuff x_x

MS is no stranger to bad demonstrations. Here is Bill Gates demonstrating Windows 98, when it suffers a BSOD:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgriTO8UHvs
I've installed Win7 Pro on 3 of my machines, and none of them have had issues so far, but then again, none of them have touch screens either. Touch screens are a gimmick tech, give me spatial manipulation and mind interfaces please.
Student (University)
Touch screen systems are like newb techies trying to show off a system that isn't really worth using and not direct enough. A mouse is all you really need, and it's a hell of a lot more efficient.
I'll be upgrading my machine to Windows 7 soon enough, as I'm much more used to using Windows over Mac's OSX.

well, we can't expect Microsoft to provide a good OS before it implements a hundred updates. Touch screen... who really needs it?!
LMAO, epic fail. I think I'll continue to wait and see.
