Halloween in Japan
Been here in Japan for about 10 years now and have watched how Halloween went from practically nothing to being celebrated throughout Japan.
In Tokyo alone, just a walk down Shibuya, Shinjuku, Ikebukuro or just the local shotengai, one will see a load of Halloween decorative bits n pieces here n there.
One also see many notices for Halloween parties and events too.
I usually avoid going out in armor on Halloween as I don't really want to be associated with some drunk noisy gaijin stripping their clothes off on the Yamonote line.
Lots of Halloween to be seen on the TV too. Does your neck of the woods go all out for Halloween?
If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

halloween is huge in America, my own family and my neighbors used to work on a haunted house in our front yards. Kids are generally well behaved and just want to show off their costumes and get some sweeties.

No halloween in Germany! At least, not really. Some modern kids do it, and then there's a bunch of discos that have all kinds of themed parties, but apart from that, no one seems to care - we have Fasching for dressing up, though.

Well ... in the Ruhr-Area in Germany it became quite common to do trick or treat. Although it's mostly done by idiots who make a huge mess in front of your door if something doesn't fit them. (throwing eggs etc.)

The kids do trick or treat with their parent accompanying them here in Wolfsburg but they don't do it with apartment buildings so i don't have to share my candy. Sometimes you have idiot running around making a huge mess or even damaging other people's property.
I was thinking of doing Halloween 'duty' at my parent's house this year because it annoys them. Maybe dress up like Alice Cooper and scare some kids. Imagine someone opening the door dressed up like that with Copper shouting "FEED MY FRANKENSTEIN!!!!!" on the stereo.
Hilarity ensues :D

Luckily here in the UK it's mostly "treat or no treat" - it's mostly 10-14 year olds and if you don't give them anything, they don't do anything. I normally just turn the lights off in the front of the house so they don't bug me ^_^

Last year was probably the first time we had someone knock on our door to ask for sweets, it's not a very big deal here really except for those looking for something to celebrate/get involved in.
My family and I don't celebrate halloween in any case and I'm fine with it.

O would like to see Japan at Halloween time... I'd like to see some of the haunted houses, since I am more into the Japanese perspective of horror, rather than the U.S.'s.
I wish it didn't look weird for a 21 year old to trick or treat. :(

I never went trick-or-treating. My dad never saw the point in the tradition/holiday, since it wasn't the greatest of holidays, and meant going round knocking on strangers doors begging for candy. Easier to just buy the candy lol. Me n my brother had fun scaring the trick-or-treaters that came to our house though.

Well, I for one love Halloween and I love to give out candy to trick or treaters ^_^ It brings back good memories for me and it is something nice for the kids ^^ However, trick or treat in my neck of the woods doesn't actually fall on Halloween(they make it a Thursday evenning so kids have to go to school the next day >_<). However, Halloween gives a me an excuse to dress up as whatever I feel like. This year I am going to my friend's house on Halloween and there is supposed to be an Otaku Halloween party ^_^ I can hardly wait ^_^ Can't wait also to see Halloween in Japan when I get to go there in like three years >_<

Halloween here means students will go crazy, club parties, and house parties. Along with a random person or 2 on the floor passed out. Not joking i saw a girl last year passed out in front of jack in the box wearing a french maid outfit. she probably lost all credibility that night. lol

Almost the same here. Halloween in Spain has become just another excuse for getting drunk, like a dark-themed Carnival - no trick or treat either, just party. It's an example of how a foreign tradition changes as it is imported by other cultures: lost the meaning, keep the fun ^w^.

i cant stand halloween, i personally see it as being like begging door to door, but i can see why some people like it (free sweets/toys for little kids). Theres not as much of it celebrated in the UK, but they tend to have theme nights in theme parks/nightclubs for it.

My folks sort of celebrate Halloween...I guess. We don't do anything, but we used to give candies out to all the trick-o-treaters running around. But we moved to a house that's pretty out of the way, so we don't get anyone anymre .__.

Over in London during Halloween you get quite a few trick or treaters and mischeivous kids with nothing better to do than ask for free money while pelting eggs at you. I'd love to cosplay for Halloween but I'm worried no one will recognize who I'm dressed as :S

I think Halloween celebrations waned here for a while but I think they are starting to come back. For Halloween this year some friends and I are going to go camping at a State Park that is not to far from where we live. The campsites are in a creepy hollow and they have Halloween trick or treating along the camp sites, pretty neat. I am going to get a couple of pounds of dry ice and see how much fog we can create for everyone :3.

Halloween use to be fun though the cold weather ruins it when you have to wear a coat over your costume. Now its just annoying and a bit on the dangerous side. It seems some children get angry at houses that don't hand out candy to the point of lighting them on fire. A more common occurrence is children being robbed of their hard earned sweet loot.
http://xcomprandomness.co.uk/
I used to go trick or treating, wearing just a mask. Then the next day at school you would always hear people bragging about how much money they got. My friends and I got mostly peanuts (real ones), fruit and lots of candy lol.

Halloween is by far my favourite holiday. (^_^) Last year I was able to sew a full size Oogie Boogie costume, next year I'll make 2.0. The only downside about here is that they try giving out "healthy" candy, if I didn't want the sugar I wouldn't go. lol Those gaijin make us all look bad, it's sad to see that we are stereotyped by how a bunch of stupid drunks act. =/

There's only two holidays in the entire year that people in America really get into the spirit and go all out. One of them is Christmas and the other is Halloween. Everything else is pretty subdued in comparison. I really do enjoy the decorations this time of year. ^_^

halloween isn't really celebrated around these parts
okay, there are the occasional few odd kids during that time, but nothing like other countries
Passing-Thru KamenRider
I'd say the "Odd Kids" are more from Post-Year12 Muck-ups than any real Halloween celebrations.
Doesn't stop some shops from having Halloween themes, though. Lombard's has quite a bit of Halloween stuff up here in Melbourne, but they'r;e a party and costume place, so it's kind of expected.
Back in the Philippines, it was more of Nov.1st, All Saint's Day, that was regarded as a time to spend the day at the cemetery, so while Halloween itself is not celebrated, there's a lot of Halloween-ish themes around. Especially the whole supernatural horror theme. That and I hear Halloween is becoming more mainstream in the Philippines.
Student.
They call Halloween the "Harvest Festival" due to a few people being uncomfortable with the concept of Halloween. (Comes with the super-conservative hometown)
D: Silly gaijin. Disturbing the peace is not good. (Especially when you "represent" your race by just existing as a foreigner in Japan.) Hopefully, it won't happen again...

Always wondered if and how Japan celebrated Halloween. Here in SF its people everywhere getting candy. My neighborhood though is one the quietest though, its like a ghost town. That's why when I go with my little brother and sister, we go to the more lively districts in the city. I usually see many people in groups in random costumes (not anime related though), along with some haunted houses and the like. A couple of years ago we tried going to Robin William's house to see if we could see him (of course we didn't see him) but there was hoards of teens all over the place. There were some people standing in his front gate giving away glow things. I don't go Trick or Treating myself, but my little bro and sis do that for me. Lol.

We Filipinos celebrate Halloween by going to the cemetery and spending some time (some people spend the entire day there!) with our passed loved ones. This is what I like about my country; such strong family ties. I like it :D

Halloween's big here, especially in my parent's town. There's a street there full of Victorian houses that all just go crazy for Halloween, so the city actually closes the street to vehicle traffic on the holiday to make it safer for the mobs and mobs of people who go there. It's actually quite fun; it kind of feels like Halloween mixed together with a small con due to the number of non-trick-or-treating adults there.
This year I won't be trotting that street though. My parents' tenth anniversary is on Halloween, so they're throwing a giant party which I am obligated to attend. I'm going as Glinda, Wicked version, and apparently my dad's friend is going as someone from Wicked as well, so this should be cool.

Not where I live. I had to drive out of my way to go to a Halloween party. Because I'm under age, I couldn't drink, instead I drove my friends around from bar to bar. It wasn't too bad. Middle aged men kept approaching me, their breath smelled of beer and cigarettes, made me want to puke. I enjoyed the D.J. Batman, he just stood there rocking his head back and forth looking bada$$.
