Sabra

After 10 years of publication, idol gravure magazine Sabra is calling it quits on its printed strategy.
Sabra was first published in May 2000 and gained popularity as being seen as a new generation of magazine due to integrating the web in its strategy.
We are now having to radically change our strategy due to big changes in the publishing and web environment.
Could be because folks prefer jpeg health material instead of printed or could it be that more folks are preferring 2D girls instead? The top selling mags at Amazon are actually 2D girls ^^;

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.
If you don't have much time now, maybe subscribe to the RSS Feed, Twitter Feed or join the other readers in the FaceBook Page.
Alternatively, you may want to read more about the site.
If you are a regular reader then this message will probably annoy you each time - hide it forever.

I give them points for recogizing that things are changing and for them to change their business strategy. Unlike some companies who try to claw and keep doing what they've beendoing for years to the detriment of company shareholders.

Well.. it's a trend that's going on at the moment.. But, nothing beats a life size poster of an Idol or 2D though.. Printed are for those special ones..

Well, I personally believe the cost has a major impact on the industry of printed materials, such as newspapers, magazines and periodicals. Images off tend to be free, while the same images printed in magazines can run up to 10 dollars. In today's economy, it is likely that the demand for these "luxuries" are quite low.

it's interesting that a lot magazines are physically disappearing but they are transitioning to the web. I a lot of people don't buy magazines anymore, they go to the web for their information.

2D and 3D are equally yum in their own ways!
It's too bad more and more magazines have been ending their production. It kind of makes me feel sad... I personally love hanging around and reading magazines.

Lifetime supply of 2D mags for sure!
I do read 3D magazines, but those are usually either news or celebrity tabloids. Nothing worth keeping.

Everything's slowly going digital, its only a matter of time anyway.

I'd take 2D over 3D. 2D are cuter. But then again, I wouldn't be 'using' them the same way boys might do.
And I do like magazines...solid media, that you can hold, instead of everything digital, which is why I love DVD's and books n stuff.

I don't really mind as long as they continue with digital releases. I do find it a little weird though, sure they've gone from 100k sold magazines per month to 84k since October 2007, but by shutting it down completely they lose 84k customers. And that doesn't sound like a wise thing to me...

2D > 3D
In all ways, from personality, to cuteness, to healthcare. I like 2D girls! XD
Haven't renewed my Playboy subscription but seem to be buying Megamis and Nyan Types every month. Wonder if the Japanese are doing the same?
I do like 3d girls too but it's harder to find one that I like as much as 2d girls. Just not as cute and will often look trashy with fake oppai. Thus, why I did not renew my Playboy subscription. 30 year old women with overly sized double D oppai = not cute to me. 18-21 year old college girls with natural oppai = more likely to be something I want to see.
For physical copies vs jpegs. I like to have both. I plan on scanning some of my books because I can't bring them with me around the world very easily.

Neither printed nor jpeg, flesh and blood please.

Magazines and newspapers are suffering from websites.
What's important is whether a business like Sabra can transition its regular readers to a subscription for a website instead of buying the magazine.
The problem many media businesses have on the internet is getting people to pay for access. So far, most newspapers have offered their websites free, which obviously can't continue for ever.

Sad. I've always preferred printed material than jpeg. Be it 2D or 3D. If I had the choice I'd print all my jpeg stuff on poster paper...sadly I can't find any service like that here.

I saw news about that last week. Gotta get the last ever issue when it'll be published.
