I'm sure you remember the Mirai no Mirai Promo illustration that I posted the other day.
Well if you read the Mascot page or have been following DC for a while, you would have known that the anime was an April Fools a few years ago ^^;

 title=

The illustration was posted by a DC reader known as KL at Figure.fm which I hid ^^;

While the illustration wasn't originally for the anime, it prompted me to start thinking about a pilot PV for the anime and I have been contacting a few folks in the industry to explore possibilities.
Interesting how April fools turn out to be a reality after a while. It was a DC reader called Ionized who made the 3D Mirai Figma where the 3D data was used for the April Fool model which was then used as a reference to make the first prototype displayed at the Tokyo Figure Show ^^;
Figma Mirai is tentatively due for a Spring 2010 (no not April!) release with a "be gentle with me" facial expression, black hair and an SLR accessory. Hope to start pre-orders in Nov using Mirai Gaia.

I still need to get round to fleshing out the first installment of the Mirai Manga that I'm working on with Ayu. So much to do!

 title=

KL has kindly given us the original sized version of this illustration which you can find on Flickr - its a huge 3300 x 2400 px.

 title=

Take a lookie at KL's work on Pixiv - if you don't have an account then shes got some up on Deviant too but not as many.
Her Pixiv has a couple of ecchi ones so beware ^^;

This post contains a collection of her work. Incredibly talented lady. Shes already done stuff for a few Japanese companies and looks like she will be doing more. I look forward to working with her on the pilot.

So a quick summary of who does what:-

-Azami Yuko - Character design of Mirai and Haruka.
-Ayu - Character design of Kanata and manages the Manga.
-Chun - Wardrobe design and illustration for web/printed material, design of Mirai's Dollfie outfits.
-SG - Character sprites.
-Kyourin - Mirai Tan.
-KL - Mirai no Mirai pilot PV
-Kurot - TBA.

Am so proud to have so many talented DC readers ^o^.

 title=

Which brings me to a question - how many of you doodle manga or anime type characters? If you do then post em on figure.fm - you never know what it may lead to - especially if its something you like doing.

I sometimes think I would give up my programming skills to be able to draw 2D girlies all day - so envious of folks who can draw.

Do you doodle anime or manga type characters?

    Ahhhh so much prettiness.
    Want Mirai no Mirai anime pilot!!!!! And the figma! AND the dakimakura covers!! And it is lolworthy that it was all an april fools to begin with.... Brings about the question of a Mirai eroge. lol

    And as for doodling anime/manga style stuff. I do. Alot. Trying to stop doing it as much, cos my tutors don't.... approve as such... They say its been done to death... which is blatently hasn't, cos anime and manga is still ballooning in popularity in the west! Dunno what she's on about really........

    I proudly draw Anime/Manga. I'm still learning as I'm only very oung, but I've had a lot of compliments from people around me. I've always hoped I could get a manga published, or a figure of my own characters. I'm planning to make a custom nendoroid of one of my OC's ^^
    KL does some fantastic art! So vibrant and appealing to the eye. Thank you for posting the deviantart link too :D

    Haha, I scribble all the time, probably more than's good for me (or at least my education)... pity it doesn't seem to help my ability much ^^; I'd love to do a slice of life/uni shinannigans style web comic with some of my characters, but just right now that's filed under "things I'll get around to some day".

    You're not the only one Danny...whenever I see this kind of things I usually end up lookin at them for hours, literally. Completely OT. I have a question, if someone knows: when I edit my profile to add the address, there are only 3 countries [mine is not there:-(]. Any chance more countries will be added? Thanks to anyone being able to answerin me:-)

    Btw, Danny, I was hoping for a post about Moe Day [10th of october, together with Tuna Day and Fishing Day].
    DC readers, let's celebrate the Moe!!^__^

    I used to doodle a lot of anime-style characters back in high school. I even uploaded some to my DeviantART account! But ever since I became a college student I only doodle very rarely. Also, my scanner is broken so even if I want to upload some of my newer pics I can't. I'm planning to buy a tablet someday though x_x

    O.O Dang, someone can really draw and color.

    I used to be able to freehand an anime character off the screen or off a magazine but I always envied those who could just sit down and draw an anime character out of nowhere with no reference of any kind. Might try my hand at drawing again with the creation of my own mascot but it will be nowhere near this excellence. ^^;

    Thanks for introducing us to this very talented, professional artist.....and Master of Moé. Seriously...those are some of the most Moé pictures I've seen of Miku and Rin. Will check out her/his full gallery when I can (am at work right now).

    Nice images.

    I´m not much of a artist, I´m more of a thinker and like to come up with scenarios :) Or stories.

    Hopefully I will have a new one up soon. There has to be something special happening first but the first chapter is done. And I´ve started on the second one.

    For the ones that exist then do head over to http://otoboku.se/stories and do please comment.

    Back on topic: Great choices for artists :) Wish I could draw anywhere near this. It´s simply so good.

    Good to hear that everything is progressing for you Danny :) Motivates me to do a better job with the blog as well. Quite pleased with how it looks and works now. But do want and have a mascot in creation. Still haven´t thought of her last name though... Need to step up a gear there and fix that.

    Woooww just had a huge moment of realisation - I was already following this artist on DeviantArt. Just made the connection that they are also doing the art for the Mirai anime! Awesome... Love the Umineko, BRS and Vocaloid fanart!
