UFO Catcher

If you are feeling lonesome tonight then how about popping around the corner to the nearest UFO Catcher to pick up either a Hatsune Miku or Konata dakimakura?
In this case you don't pick up the physical pillow but the red things with the hoops - hand it to the arcade attendant and they will hand you your bride.

Which one will you grab?

From what I understand, most, if not all, of these games are set up to only give the user a chance of winning every nth time or so (12 is the number I've heard). If you want to win, you should watch people play it and try and understand the way the machine works. If not, I've also heard of people flashing them, kind of like the way one used to be able to rob change machines, phone booths, etc.

LOL, they're rigged. They come with a user defined coin vs prize counter. The owner adjusts it to whatever they want it to be, so it can range from 1 prize for every 5 coins to 1 prize for every 100 coins.

Of course, you can always use your uber skills to win, the trick is that you don't always have to "pick up the prize" with the hands. You can knock it over the edge instead. But this doesn't work with the plush UFO catchers/cranes you see in North America.

We have the Sega UFO Catchers in some place's down here. For the most part they have stuffed animals but some have toys in them like tiny cars, video games etc.But instead of rings you have to try and get the actual object which is very very hard.I wouldn't mind having one of these and Taking Kona-chan home to play vidya games though.

Hum...the trick would be to catch part of one of the rings or packet on the metal part at the end of the claw and just try and drag it as close to the drop shoot as possible. Probably would take a number of tries to finally get it all the way at the shoot, but more likely to get it that way than trying to hook both rings.

Much better prizes in Japan. Here we have bad plushies made in China. And they pack them in so tight you can't move them at all. I wish I had done more catchers when I was in Japan, but at least I got my Love-chan bunny =)

Sorry, I cannot write(or read) English.
        http://www.dtmm.co.jp/zoukan/miku.shtml

I tried UFO Catcher little before the BBC filming at UDX in Akihabara Donki and just ended up losing my money >_< Prizes are really alluring but for UFO catcher you do need good skill and coordination...

I have to admit that as much as I like Miku, as she has a small chunk of my fandom, Konata has this attribute that makes me stay with Lucky Star. (Kagami, however, reminds me of a few of my ex-girlfriends.)

If I need to choose it won't take me long to decide to go for Miku. Still, this looks like a really cheap way to get multiple dakimakura covers if you're handy with these machines.

At first I thought, What! What is this thing? Then I finally got it. Isn't this one of those crane machines? You put money in and control the crane in hopes of it snagging the prize. Those things are kind of hard to play. I've tried for some time trying to win something out of one of those machines where I live, not the one there but here. I actually won a plush snake a couple years ago and was proud because I never won anything out of one of the machines.

Generally speaking, I don't go for prize machines, but if I saw these and had my choice, I would go for Konata ^_^ I wonder how much a try costs from that machine. If it was likr 100 yen then I would spend up to about 500-1,000 yen trying. no different than spending money on a lottery ticket ^^
