Seconded! Or would it be thirded? Thirded sounds strange...

But anyway, I hope that when I come to Japan (I'm shooting for sometime in 2010), they'll have a 1:1 scale model of the original white Unit 00 from Neon Genesis Evangelion! *fingers crossed*

Aren't they moving it to somewhere else?
Hmm I was hoping they would reuse the frame for the Gundam to make a 1/1 mech of something else.
Maybe Evangelion, Gurren Lagann or Nu-Gundam or something.

      You know what Japan needs?
They need a 1/1 SDF-1 Macross sitting waist deep in the city somewhere

I have made my first pilgrimage to Japan to see this with my very own eyes, it was definitely a worthy experience for me. In contrary to popular believe (you can throw rotten veggie at me if you want), it is unwise to try to keep 18 meters tall, motor driven (meaning moving parts), blinking lights statue up for long period of time because it will become a maintenance nightmare, and very very costly as well. Just blinking lights would have been fine, but with moving parts is a big no no.

I am sure we will see Gundam rise again from the ground, someday.

It's such a shame! That would have been lovely as a permanent landmark. It certainly is a great tourist attraction and I would have loved to see it in person. I hope they set it up in a more permanent location. The thought that it might become scrap after only a few months makes me very sad.

Feeling sad right now. Looks like times I visited it during its construction phase but in reverse.

Midway through the Gundam's display, they did change the "SCV White Base WB" logo for the "Tokyo 2016 Canidate City" logo. Maybe they'll put the Gundam up one more time if Japan gets the Olympics in 2016. Hopefully, it finds a more permanent location much sooner then that though. That's quite some time away.
