When you don't have time to take a complete dip in a hot spring, you can always go for the foot spa also known as Ashiyu [足湯].

Folks in the Tokyo/Yokohama area can get some foot spa at Manyo Club - write up of their facilities in the Onsen photo article.

You got any hot springs in your neck of the woods?

    a spa would be nice...
    what we have here in some parts of Germany though are 'Kneip' wading pools xD they have cold (coooold) water and you're supposed to walk through them (the water is like knee-high) to stimulate the blood flow (I guess)...
    call me a freak but I really like those, because it's so refreshing...
    a spa would be more relaxing though^^°

    I found out that at Yodobashi Camera, you can try out the foot massage machine for 15 min at Health section of the store @_@ So whenever I'm tired, I can go there and relax my foot and of course you can use it longer if no one is around...

    And there's massage chain at 5th floor and that's right, you can also use it for 15 min as well >_< When you don't want to get 30 min massage for 3000 yen or can't make it to hot spring, stop by your local(Akiba for me) Yodobashi Camera ^^;

    That ashiyu in the street looks like it would be nice after walking around town to check things out. I was wondering if the water is being circulated somehow. I think most people wouldnt want to use one if its the same water thats had like 30 different peoples feet in it.

    I think there is a portable jacuzzi type feet spa device that you can buy and put it in your living room. Then you can have a foot spa while watching your favorite TV series or playing console games.

      Your mum is right. While in San Francisco I found out about one specifically but they wanted $18-20! Also, there is something like a spa resort upstate New York always advertised on Korean TV. The pricing though is nuts. 800 yen is my limit and I had better not hafta where clothes. It's just not right! *Loves hot tubs!*
