Its been nearly a month since the last A Week in Tokyo. Before I leave a gap in my life, thought I'd drop everything for an update.

 title=

The co-founder of Cospa together with the top marketing guy came over for a visit. You is being expecting Cospa x dannychoo.com.

 title=

Hmmm. Looks like they forgot something on the way home - will keep for myself ^^;

 title=

Filming for the BBC news at 10 at the office.

 title=

This is the reason why I seem to wear Firefox T-shirts all the time - I have a life time supply of samples ^^;
And to all Firefox users out there - remember that you have chosen wisely.

 title=

A load of cute foxkeh stickers.

 title=

Out n about in the Shimokita area.

 title=

Rather cool Evangelion headphones.

 title=

Some Popiah. Nice but not as good as the stuff available in Singapore - cant wait to eat a load of it this November for the AFA 09.

 title=

Puchi Kyoka is a sweetie.

 title=

Having a final gander at the 1/1 scale Gundam in Odaiba before it fell over.

 title=

Kagamin takes a break with a cuppa at Starbucks.

 title=

Sushi for dindins.

 title=

Folks from the AFA over at the office.

 title=

A load of folks doing Tachiyomi which means to "read while standing up." Reminds me that I need to pick up some anime and 2D girlie mags.

 title=

Kaisen Yakisoba for dindins.

 title=

Out n about in Shibuya.

 title=

The lovely Haruka Ayase shows us her armpits and convinces us that we need some ocha. Yes please.
She looks really sweet in the Pantene ad below.

Haruka also stared in the recent drama with Kimura Takuya called Mr Brain which I really enjoyed.

 title=

Some gift food in the form of Moon cake from Malaysia. Mmmmm.

 title=

Ginger pork for lunch.

 title=

Picking up some groceries.

 title=

A local veggie store.

 title=

Got some Blu-Tac type Pritt putty from Amazon for sticking up posters, holding figures in place without their bases, to hold in the eyeballs of my daughters and to temporarily fix stuff in their hands for photo shoots.

Also got a USB charger for the car. Nice n small and lights up blue - also from Amazon. Our previous one would only charge wifeys iPhone 3GS 16GB but not my 32GB for some reason.

 title=

Mr James wants to give you 100000 yen if you eat at Mc Dees. See him in action below.

 title=

Mc Dees once in a while is actually quite nice. How often do you eat it?

 title=

Bowl O ramen.

 title=

Unpacking Saber Lily.

 title=

Ankake Chahan.

 title=

Beef bowl with Kagamin.

 title=

Folks who loose their pets would usually put up fliers like this and offer a reward for those who can return the pet. Have you lost a pet before and was you able to find them again (and how?)

 title=

Then its more filming for the BBC in Akiba.

 title=

Outside the ero media store Lamtarra.

 title=

Reminds me that I still have not seen Ponyo yet. How is it compared to previous Miyazaki films? My faves are Majo no Takkyubin (Kiki's Delivery Service)...

And Laputa.

 title=

A Stormtrooper Eye view of the BBC filming. Thanks to all those who came along.

 title=

BRS.

 title=

Akiba Moe Usagi.

 title=

Hmmm. Good Smile Racing.

 title=

Paking some glasses cleansing tissue, wires, wires and more wires for a trip to Hokkaido.

 title=

Arrival at Haneda Airport which is just under an hour away from home. Wish there were more International flights from Haneda. I think it used to be only a domestic airport but have flown to Korea from Haneda before.

Our closest international airport is Narita which takes over 2 hours to get to.

 title=

At Haneda preparing to remove a load of bits n pieces from my bod for the security check. Never had any bad experiences at Japanese airports but have in the US where I regularly saw passengers treated like criminals.

I was carrying a bottle of water and about to get on a plane. The security folks called me over and started to go through my stuff while giggling picking out things like a battery saying "Whats this?!" (giggle).
"This bottle of water yours? Drink it for me!" (giggle).
Whats the worst experience you've had at airport security?

 title=

The flight from Tokyo to Sapporo in Hokkaido is only an hour n a half.

 title=

Managed to sleep most of the way - probably because the flight was about 6AM.

 title=

At the hotel business center. I should have installed Firefox for them.
Surprised to see that DC didn't look completely crap in IE7. IE6 however looks completely and utterly broke. No plans to fix anything for IE6 apart from redirecting them to the RSS feed.

 title=

How many buttons is enough to clean your bottom - a control panel next to the toilet.

 title=

Had a fab time in Hokkaido. Was gorgeous when the sun was out.

 title=

At a hot spring. Will post more photos in a seperate post.

 title=

Destroying some IDE drives before disposing of.

 title=

Snap of Chris's desk.

 title=

Licca-chan at Mos Burger. Wanted to have some of her strawberry shake but the queue was too long by the time we finished eating.

 title=

Rice burger set. Mmmmm.

 title=

At the convenience store looking through the one box toys which include Tetsudo Musume.

 title=

Having some afternoon Yuzu tea.

 title=

Last nights dinner at Bamiyan.

 title=

Wasn't carrying much cash at the time and they didn't take credit cards either. Japan is still unfortunately very much a cash society. One of the main reasons that many places don't take credit cards is because the shop needs to pay a transaction fee which can be from 5-8%.

 title=

Checking out Love Plus on the NDS.

 title=

My desk this morning. Can you spot my latest figure?

 title=

Cameras were made to be dropped and I dropped my Lumix LX3 which broke the LC1 tri-cover cap. Went a few days without the automatically opening cap and it was painful until the new one arrived from Amazon.

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

If you don't have much time now, maybe subscribe to the RSS Feed, Twitter Feed or join the other readers in the FaceBook Page.
Alternatively, you may want to read more about the site.
If you are a regular reader then this message will probably annoy you each time - hide it forever.

This item was posted in the A Week in Tokyo category. You can see more of everything else or subscribe via RSS instead.

Great photos as usual and the pictures of food just get me hungry ^^
The popiah there is wrapped differently from how it is done in Singapore o.o

Somehow, I realized that I have been eating Macs almost everyday for some reasons.

Haven't had any unpleasant experience with the airport security :/

I haven't eaten at McDonalds in ages, I was never a big fan of their food. Although I suppose the menu is quite different from here and Japan.

Hard to guess which figure is your latest since you tend to receive figured earlier than the actual release date, but I would have to guess the Golgo 13 figma in front of the monitor on the far right.

As always the "week in Tokyo" posts are very entertaining! (btw I didn't know you worked with so many handsome gentlemen) I should carry around any extra puchi nendos and take pics, the problem is that I don't go out much to save some bit of money ^^U

I'm feeling the burden that a credit card can be too, I'm not surprised Japan tries to be as much cash-friendly as possible. Even using a debit card is a pain now, but it works for online transactions. I'm trying to use cash for small stuff.

    About the japanese toilet buttons sometimes I feel a bit worried that I press the wrong button and instead of flushing a fountain comes up and make stuff which shouldn't be wet, wet :P Miss Japanese food so much ;_;

image 75548 - now THAT is what I call freakin' sah-weet!

image 75551 - you know, I'm suddenly in the market for a new pair of head phones - the red ones will do quite nicely, I think :)

image 75556 - Danny, do you always order the same types of sushi at that particular restaurant? the contents of this picture are awfully familiar :)

image 75558 - aha, new word alert, and one that applies to me personally. I do this from time to time - and when I was at school I would even read while walking.

image 75561 - WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH, Ayase Haruka! I cried and cried so much while I was watching her play Hirose Aki in Sekai no Chūshin de, Ai o Sakebu~ she's so cute! and agreed on that Pantene ad - gorgeous. I love her smile. (why does Mr. Brain have Van Halen? XD)

image 75568 - I'm not a big fan of the McD's hamburgers but like their chicken sandwich very much, and their apple pies and milkshakes. The real menu item I love at McD's is their Big Breakfast, which I eat about once a week or so.

image 75576 - I haven't seen Ponyo yet either. My favorite Miyazaki films are Mimi wo Sumaseba (Whisper of the Heart) and Spirited Away.

image 75581 - woo, Tarepanda! I love that character.

I think the worst time I've had in the airport was when I was on leave during deployment in the Middle East. When I was in Atlanta heading to catch the flight back home for 2 weeks, in uniform, they asked me to step out of line then they used a wand on me and had me stand in the "gunpowder check" booth to see if I had any traces of gunpowder on me. Most of the people there voiced their dissatisfaction to the security personnel for treating a member of the military like that but I didn't say a word. Surprised they found no gunpowder too as I had just been shooting 2 days prior.

Excellent pictures as always Danny ^^ Love A week in Tokyo series!

Splendid Week/Month in Tokyo. Lots of goodness.

Don't eat much at Mickey D's unless its a snack of fries or a burger or something new to try. To be honest, I don't know why it's so popular.

I thought Ponyo was just okay. Nothing much compared to previous Miyazaki films.

I haven't had any real bad experiences with airport security, but my friend who is Muslim has plenty...

You latest figure is Queen's Blade Mirim. What?! I won a Mirim from you for getting it right?! COOL!

some of the food looks really tasty. Ponyo even i would like to see that movie. Laputa and Kiki are lovely movies. I've enjoyed them everytime i sw those movies. Other Miyazaki favourites would be Nausicaa, Howls Moving castle, Porco Rosso, Neighbour Totoro. Trying to get my hands on Lupin 3 -Castle of Clagiostoro.

Toilet buttons -Powerful and Mild? wonder how powerful it will be.

Ahh these articles are great, shows what happens every week. So many things that can be put down in a week too. Althought I prefer small daily ones.
Lots of delicious images of food, always making me hungry. >> Anime goodies that are so cheap, well atleast compared to here they are. Can't believe the nightlife in Tokyo is so bustling, people everywhere and bright lights.
Yea I believe Hanada is only for short distance flights, while Narita is for long distance.
Great new images Danny, thanks for sharing!

Sorry you had that experience at a US airport Danny. They have strict measures in place because terrorists always try to find new ways to sneak their bombs onboard. Sometimes the measures can be a bit rediculous and the employees know this. That's why they were giggling. But they still have to search.

Speaking of which, I did not bring my Saber DD with me on the plane because I read that even dolls were used by terrorists to try to make a bomb. Didn't want my Saber in shreads or undergoing tests. Just a heads up for any of you Dollfie Dream owners planning to travel to the US.

ponyo is a touching show, a little too long from my personal feeling though. the soundtrack sold locally only has a 1:40+ min title track with vocals... while youtube shows the PV/MTV version is just under 4 minutes! argh... but it's a very cutesy song that i like.

Nice Yui shirt Danny! Passed up on that one as I didn't like the text, did pre-order the next Yui K-ON! shirt though. Interesting you'll do something with Cospa soon, really love their anime T-shirts, have several of them and am quite pleased with their quality.

Used Opera for quite some time next to Firefox, but mostly used Firefox under Linux and now again under Windows 7 (as IE8 isn't all that great).

A shame they already tore down the Gundam at Odaiba, wonder why they built something so well done that costs that much to take it down so quickly?

I have chosen wisely to stick with Firefox 3 for the moment ^^;;; Haven't upgraded to 3.5 yet, kinda worried about my add-ons. Would love to get that Rei earphone... but I have too many earphones as it is >_<

McDonald's, eh? I tend to eat once every two weeks it seems... I don't go out much to eat anymore ever since my brother's barely home anymore XD

Say... when did you get the Nagato Yuki puchi nendo with rabbit headphones?

Ponyo was ok... not as epic as Kiki's Delivery Service (which is my favourite btw) but it is as cute as Totoro ^^

Well maybe not completely credit card but at times all it seems is credit card only please. McDonald's here in the U.S. believe it or not really have some of the best food around. I have an eating disorder so the food's I eat are usually fast food restaurants like McDonald's or Wendy's or Burger King. I can't eat regular foods like everyone else does. If I try eating let's say eggs, I get deathly sick. The smell of eggs make me very sick. When my mother was pregnant with me, she was in a bad car accident. She didn't wear her seatbelt and she was told by her doctor that if she did wear her seatbelt, I would not have been born. The accident she had did something to my brain that distinguishes taste. I can eat things like chicken, maybe some spaghetti, hamburgers, hot dogs, pretty much lots of things. I just can't eat foods like fish, beans, okra, any type of vegetables. These types of food make my stomach upset. One of the McDonald's here close to where I live has the appearance of a McDonald's from the 50's. It's pretty cool.

Airport security problems in the past. Back in the 1980s I had a stainless steel screw in my ankle and wore steel toe boots since they helped support my foot to be straight again after the surgery to fix it. At the airport the metal detector kept going off. So having emptied my pockets of my 4 extra packs of cigarettes, keys had like 3 keyrings and such the buzzer kept going off. They stood me off to the side, looked at all the chewing gum empty wrappers (the aluminum ones) in the container from my empty pockets and then my boots. "Oh you have hard tipped boots?" oh right I thought. Taking them off, the metal detector wouldn't let me pass. "Oh right, I have a screw in my leg", they tested it, ran a hand held over my skull LMAO, and decided at last that I was ok. Another trip a year later I had a shifter lever for a Ford C-5 automatic transmission in my suitcase which was gray taped closed. ON top of having to show the pin in my foot they ripped open my suitcase to hold a fine ford part in their hands. "I have to go fix my moms car" I told them, which I did after all.

Ooo, a black MP3 player Soundwave. Neat. I still want an original G1, but they're getting harder to find, and I'm getting poorer.

I don't go to McD as much as I used to. We changed which gaming store we play at and there's a nice Subway just across the street, a pizza place in the same plaza. Nearest McD is 1/2 mine away, requires driving to. There's one here where I live, too, but it's on the far side of town, kind of dumb to go there. Still, sometimes you really need a shake.

Only time I had any issues at an airport, it was US immigration at Toronto Person Airport. I had had a cold the week prior, and as I was waiting for the plane out of Ottawa, I started to feel crappier by the minute. By the time I got to the immigration desk, I was sweating badly (fever) and had missed a line on the form.
Got directed to a room, was asked some questions, and sent on my way. (guess the Lady questioning me decided I wasn't a threat, or took pity because I was obviously sick. ) Sent a miserable week In the Pomona area of LA on a business trip. (Some Canadian airports have US customs gates to pre-clear people before arriving in the US. Ottawa and Toronto both do)
Don't Rotten Ronny's once in a while, but I'm getting more and more annoyed every time I go. Service around here has gone right down the tubes at their restaurants.
In Canada you can get by almost without cash as debit and CC card readers are everywhere. I only use cash for the canteen truck that comes around three times a day at work.

I'm awed at the 5-8% transaction fees credit card companies charge in Japan. Sure that's not a typo? Really absurd numbers. Its normally 1.5 to 2.5%, depending on volume the last time I checked. I'll better check again to be sure. This is in the U.S. I could understand Japan being a cash society because of the absurd fees.

Interestingly, if you do it properly, credit cards can actually make you money. How? Use credit cards then when the bill comes due, pay it off 100% off. Never carry any balance or you get hit by interest rates on the balance. Only cost would be the annual fee, if there is one. Doing it this way allows your cash to collect more interest bore the credit card bill gets paid. Of course, this strategy doesn't work well nowadays due to the very low interest rates. This strategy also doesn't work well if have no spending controls, too. I used to collect around 300 "free" bucks a year doing this when interest rates were 5% or so...

More food photographs, please. Particularly for fried food. Looks so much better than the usual soggy& oily American fried food...
