Japanese Phone Straps
This mobile belongs to my new employee Asanon and has the most straps I've ever seen attached to a single device. Maybe fit enough for the Guinness book of records?
All Japanese mobiles have a hole which enables a strap to be attached and many folks over here hang character goods from their device. Do folks in your neck of the woods do the same?

You know, I think it needs more straps. But honestly, it's just one of those little things, you think oh that's cute i'll buy one and put it on my phone. Soon after, it amounts to alot such as on Asanon's phone.
Such a hassle to carry around in my opinion, would never fit in my pocket if it were like that.

Hmm, sometimes people have some sort of strap on their phone, but for the most part I would say no.
I was so terribly heartbroken when I learnt my current phone wasn't able to have straps attached to it easily. And although I only usually kept one or two straps on it, they're so useful! It's kind of like an extra keyring and can add extra cute without having to glue things onto the phone itself.
I have seen phones with more straps attached however. Where there are enough that the phone and the straps can only just fit into a small-ish handbag.
Those are kind of scary. I was always too afraid to have that much stuff dangling off my phone though. Mostly because I wouldn't want to damage any of the charms or straps. They're too cute to be thrown around with twelve others.

I used to have a gashapon hanging from my phone, but once he got lost (poor Yondaime lost his finger, hand, and hair before that) I just stuck to leather, professional looking ones. That's a little ridiculous. I think the strap lose purpose if you can't distinguish it among the billion other stuff.
University's Slave
You do occasionally see cell phone straps around here, though not often. However, quite a few phones can accommodate them, which is an absolute blessing if you and a family member have the same model of phone. I speak from experience, as my mom and I have the exact same model, in the exact same color. I have a strap with a little handmade bead bunny, a gift from my former roommate, and my mom has Calcifer from Howl's Moving Castle, which I bought for her at AX last year. It's a huge help in telling whose phone is whose!
I would never, ever have more than one strap though. It offends my designerly sensibilities, and would increase potential damage to the strap slot too, I would think.
Rarely you see people with phone straps here, dang that must be a hassle to put in your pocket, if it can even fit. That phones strap hole thingy must be packed to the max.

it's not really popular in Canada, I got looked at strangely when I came home from Japan with a giant Cheshire cat tail on my phone. Also I bought a bunch for friends/family and about 80% thought they were weird key chains, not something youd put on a phone...

Americans aren't that corny.
But if you visit the Asian communities in L.A. you'll
see people with this habit of attaching too many phone
straps to their phones.

I used to have a strap on mine, but then it fell off. I also tended to get some strange looks about that, I haven't seen...anybody...(As far as I know) with a phone strap....

I don't have any straps hanging off my cellphone because my cellphone is an iPhone 3G.

Although I would like to get a cellphone strap, I'm still looking around for a good one and I highly doubt I'll put that many on it. How hard is it to talk on the thing?

Haha :D My friends have the same habit of collecting phone straps. It's fun to look at them but yeah :D It looks funny when they are talking on the phone :P And yup they look pretty much the same as the one on the pic. They don't have that BIG straps but they have MANY small ones :P
Once I thought putting a strap on my phone but ended up without it when I started thinking how bothersome it would be if the strap would get stuck on something.. keke
Now that I think of it.. It's not that common here in Finland :P I've always thought of it as something normal cause my friends had them >_<

She is a fan indeed. My cellphone is too small to put a strap on, it looks like a startrek communicator. I could use them on my two video cameras however. Last I tried to get was some Chobits ones, but they ran out of stock.
