The Comic Market C76 (also known as Comike) is currently taking place this weekend at Tokyo Big Sight.
The Comike is the largest comic fair to take place in Japan and mainly features doujinshi, cosplay and for the past few years have also been featuring more figures in the enterprise booth area.

DC Member Yuki-to went along yesterday and uploaded more photos together with blurbs to figure.fm. A 4hr 30 min wait to get in... And then more waiting after getting in ^^;

I'm swamped this weekend so don't think I'll make it ToT.

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

If you don't have much time now, maybe subscribe to the RSS Feed, Twitter Feed or join the other readers in the FaceBook Page.
Alternatively, you may want to read more about the site.
If you are a regular reader then this message will probably annoy you each time - hide it forever.

This item was posted in the Japanese Pop Culture category. You can see more of everything else or subscribe via RSS instead.

Is that guy (with the 200 belts) behind the Jubei cosplayer wearing a Strike Witches hat? If so, he's my new favorite person.

Just got back from Comiket a couple of hours ago. Was outside most of the day so I think I might have gotten a bit sunburned.
Stopped by Good Smile booth though. They were sold out of nearly everything, including all the plushies, but Akiyama-san mentioned that they might have "a little bit" more tomorrow, so if anyone wants one, head over first thing!
I spent most of today at the Cosplay area and Itasha parking lot. You can take a look at some pictures I took
    here http://bit.ly/YKzpY (lines)
    here http://bit.ly/3fVg1C (cosplay)
    and here http://bit.ly/32jnh2 (itasha)
I'll be back again tomorrow. Mostly in Higashi-kan, so I might be seeing a few other DC'ers there!

If it's about waiting I don't really mind though...Well, I'm one who enjoys waiting anyway and 4 hours isn't that much of a problem for me >.<

That's a huge number of people waiting to get in. I assume some people even go there overnight to wait so they're the first ones in. Definitely something to do at least once though.

I visited last year's winter Comiket, it was my first time there and it was an incredible experience! The crowds were incredible too, seriously, like herding cattle, but wow what a rush! Totally would love to visit again and have to recommend going in the winter over the summer event. I ended up sweating in my coat, I can't imagine what it's like in the summer when striping down probably wouldn't help.

It's not required to queue up on line before the sun rises but many do it because most of the good stuff sell out within the first two to three hours. It happens! I went prepared with my colorized map and didn't get to hit all the tables I wanted to because the artists sold out.

Whoa, that's insane... I always read there were way more people at Comiket than at Comic-Con (San Diego), and I don't even go to that anymore b/c of the number of people. The fact that there are legit vendors at Comiket now instead of just doujin artists makes me want to get over my aversion to crowds real quick!

i'd wanna be there too lol, the amount of things i can find and see there gives me a good enough reason to wait for 4 hours...and a psp can take 4 hours + of non stop gaming >=P so that'd keep me entertained.
