Kotobukiya came round to update me on progress of the Otacool book which is looking good.
While I could make recommendations, it was Kotobukiya's final decision as to who they chose to go in.
Less than 2 months before its released. Kotobukiya should be letting me know the winners of the competition soon.

In the meantime, Yoshikawa-san would like me to deliver you this message:-

Greetings to all OTACOOL fans!

My name is Yoshikawa from Kotobukiya’s Publication Department and I am in charge of planning and release of OTACOOL. First of all I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for supporting the OTACOOL website, and introducing such wonderful rooms to us.

We have gone through each and every room that you posted and through great struggle, countless cups of coffee, and sleepless nights have selected the rooms we will be publishing in the book. Believe me it was not easy! Since there where so many great rooms out there, it was very difficult for us to decide which room to publish. Honestly speaking if it was possible we would have shown all the rooms in the book.

We feel honored and delighted that so many of you have accepted OTACOOL and have felt that you are part of this project. We feel proud that the Japanese Otaku Culture has been acknowledged and loved world wide.

Please let us thank you all again for posting your rooms and Danny Choo for being such a brilliant bridge between Kotobukiya and the fans. This book would have never come together if it weren’t for you all!

OTACOOL is scheduled to be released in October. We have already received lots of great compliments/comments on this project and feel that there is really something very special about this book. Please look forward to see which rooms will appear in the book!

The book is available for pre-order at HobbySearch and Amazon.

Thanks to all who participated and look forward to more collaborations to bring you closer to the makers. Its an honor to be a part of something with you.

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

If you don't have much time now, maybe subscribe to the RSS Feed, Twitter Feed or join the other readers in the FaceBook Page.
Alternatively, you may want to read more about the site.
If you are a regular reader then this message will probably annoy you each time - hide it forever.

This item was posted in the Japanese Pop Culture category. You can see more of everything else or subscribe via RSS instead.

Amazon Japan only ships to Japanese addresses, but you can use proxy services like Tenso, Japan to Door, Goody Japan, etc. But Hobby Search can ship it to you directly, I think... Depending on your address. I know I order from HS a lot.

I'm pretty sure they ship outside of Japan, because I live in the United States and I get my magazines, artbooks and manga from Amazon Japan monthly. The only things they don't ship overseas are toys and video games. Also although you have to search in Japanese, some parts of the webpage can be switched into English, even the ordering page.

I'll get the book if I'm in it or not. It will be a great book to look at some 5-10 years from now :3

^^; Might be interesting to buy the book just to see who I know made it. I mean, they'll be announced here anyway (probably...right? Right?) but it wouldn't be the same.

i would prefer it if the books offers full-blown photo of their rooms. i would really big that. but then again, that would require a high end camera our part as well...

Because of all the people showing their rooms, I don't feel like I like anime too much. A lot of these people can give Japanese otaku a run for their money.
