Cozy Corner originally opened as a delicatessen back in 1948 in Ginza.
They now have over 300 stores across Japan which include restaurants and cafes.
Here we see Aoi-chan about to eat her fave Shu Cream - its like a light pastry filled with custard.

Have always loved Cozy Corner and dreamt of one opening in our local shopping arcade. And then one day I saw that they was just about to open one right in our neck of the woods!

By day people line up for the cakes.

And this is the sort of yummy cakes that they sell.

Cozy Corner by night - its popular around the clock and you can very rarely just walk in and get something without a wait.

Cozy Corner and other places that sell cold sweets or cakes usually ask how long it will take you to get home. When I was first asked, I thought to myself why on earth does she need to know?!

Then I learned that depending on how long it takes you to get home, they will give you the appropriate amount of dry ice to keep your cakes cold on your trip home. I was flabbergasted at the high quality of service as I never saw anything like it back in the UK.

Do you give you ice packs or dry ice sachets to keep your cakes cool on your journey home in your neck of the woods?

    Choux cream... Since 1948 huh? I love bakeries like that, the ones that have stood the test of time as well as people's ever changing tastes, serving a specialty pastry that everyone remembers. Ah... I'm sure Beard Papa is a pale imitator to this.

      That's awesome! I suspect they print my receipt with recycled paper, sometimes. Stingy bums...

      Maybe you get your service because of frequent patronage? Pies are pastries, no?

    "Do you give you ice packs or dry ice sachets to keep your cakes cool on your journey home in your neck of the woods?"

    Now that there are shops here selling nama chocolate, yes, yes they do. Nothing like that for cakes though.

    I usually little packs of dry ice when buying Ice cream or cakes from Häagen-Dazs or Chocolates from Royce. after which I would dip them in water when I get home and watch the little one watch the smoke and shriek with glee. ^^;

    Well I wouldn't really need dry ice since I don't think anything on the menu I saw would make it home, but I could still have fun with the dry ice. Ahh college boredom, you serve me well.

    Lots of yummy looking cakes! They don't care about how long we get home here... it's none of their concern it seems like. Such a culture shock XD

    And the only place you can get dry ice here is a funeral house... They can double as a cake/ice cream seller ^^;

    Yeah, you rarely see that type of service in the states. The japanese have such pride in their service that it blows us away when we encounter it. For that type of service here, you usually pay for it one way or another.

    Those cakes don't look so much baked as they do Engineered. Dry Ice is unavailable to the general public here because stupid people film themselves doing stupid things with it to put on the internet.

    This will probably eventually make it out to either the Torrance/Gardena area or to Little Tokyo. But you can bet they won't do the dry ice number here. Heck, BASKIN FRAKKIN ROBBINS and CARVEL won't even send you home with dry ice with an ice cream cake. Hey this is America, B. Y. O. Dry Ice!
