AmiAmi is a figure retailer in Japan and according to some folks in the biz, they are the biggest in terms of sales.

Some folks form AmiAmi came along to the Tokyo Figure Show party last week and you can see pictures at the AmiAmi Blog which includes a snap of my mai musume Saber.

They also done this most cutesome illustration of figma Mirai@TFS for us! Expect to see more of AmiAmi around here ^^

If you are interested in reading about life in Japan, seeing photos taken daily around Tokyo, like Japanese subculture (anime, manga, figures, Dollfies) then you may want to start delving into the Japan or Figure categories for a start or have a gander at all photo articles.

If you don't have much time now, maybe subscribe to the RSS Feed, Twitter Feed or join the other readers in the FaceBook Page.
Alternatively, you may want to read more about the site.
If you are a regular reader then this message will probably annoy you each time - hide it forever.

Yup, heard of 'em. Far too many times reading about figures that only they had. *cries in corner*

I had a much more lengthy experience with them a couple months back. I found a GSC metal Tachikoma on sale from them, and the deal was so good I braved the Japanese interface with my intermediate grasp of the language and registered. I even went as far as to set up a Japanese address via Tenso to get around their not shipping internationally.

I even placed my order. Then, as I puzzled over why they didn't ask for my credit card number, I realized they only accepted bank transfers. I looked into bank transfers, how to do them with a Japanese bank internationally, how addresses are organized and written in Japan, and spent hours looking through a number of Japanese sites to figure it all out.

Then I finally realized that the exchange rate and service fees the bank would charge me far offset any deal the sale was. My last hurdle was composing a letter in Japanese to AmiAmi support to cancel.

    >_> In the end, a lot of wasted time, and no gain save for all the random information I learned. Which wasn't bad...but seriously, I'd be so much happier if they ever decide to ship international. x_x

I visit AmiAmi everyday to see what new figures are ready for pre-order. They seem to be much quicker at getting the new stuff up.

Yeah I knew about Amiami thru DC. I usually check the quality of upcoming figures there. It's just so unfortunate that they do not do international sales (sigh of relief from HLJ and Hobby search) as they would make a killing on selling figures internationally. Nice Mirai illustration BTW.
