Tokyo Roller Blades

During my last trip to the UK, I brought my roller blades back with me. Had these for probably about 15 years. Convenient to get around when going to a quick bite to eat.

Customized the back by sticking some of those piston thingies that you find attached to the boot of a car. Also added some piping that you can find in a place that does fish aquarium stuff.
To finish off, I added "engage" and "caution" stickers too ^^;
Saw many folks on roller blades in Paris when I was there on a business trip a few years ago. Would like a decent looking pair where the wheels can come off.

Not got round to doing Roller Blade Trooper yet ^^;

    I used to be pretty good on these, but I never liked how they felt. The extreme bumpiness of most streets where I lived, I mean. I prefer bikes, because they give a smoother ride from the rubber tires.

    Nice mods! The green color scheme looks sweet, though it's sad that it won't fit with your trooper armor. Swamp trooper, perhaps...? :P

    I don't really like rollerblading. I can skate - and enjoy skating - but rollerblading and I don't match. I just can't stand all the vibrations and cracks in the road making themselves known.

    Far more tiring and less practical than a bike when it comes to covering distance, too. xP

    When I was 14, I had "Friends" in the aggressive blader scene who convinced me to save up for a quality pair of Bauers, then my folks set me up with roller blade lessons but I never got good at it.

    Those Bauers have been in storage for more than 10 years, don't know where they are ATM.

    Just saw that Bauer don't make roller blades anymore, but Roces and K2 still do.

      Bauer still makes rollerblades for roller hockey but they have been bought by Nike so its Nike Bauer now. I don't think they have any blades for casual skaters but if they did it would probably be just Nike I would guess.

    A pair of Roces Majestic 12's would go perfectly with the trooper armour. They're aggro skates though, and an ancient design too, so they're really heavy, and not the most comfortable. But the look would be perfect.

    Wow, a pair of Oxygen skates. Now that is rare. I don't skate as much as I used to. I taught myself, starting on adjustable quad skates where you wear you trainers/sneakers. Then switch to inlines. London is crap when it comes to smooth surfaces. Hyde park isn't bad place to skate with a high chance of seeing good looking women as a bonus. Does Tokyo have skate shops or skate parks? My advise to Danny on buying skates is to check out the type of skates he wants and how much is he willing to spend.

    My advise for people who may want to try skating is to be patient when learning and expect to fall, aswell as wear padding.

    My pair of roller blades are from a company called Roces http://www.roces.com/

    Very nice pair, I must say.. I wouldn't buy their figure skates though.. bleah, Riedell all the way there.

    Roller skated, ice skated and roller bladed and haven't done any in years with ice skates being 29 years or so and roller skating about 25 years but roller blading is about 17 years. The fad pretty much faded away here in most of the US and it wasn't until I moved to Virginia Beach 4 months ago that I saw two roller bladers after about 5 years.

    Hmm roller blades, tempts me to finally buy another pair. My hockey roller blades have smaller wheels for quicker movements, but for long distances, they aren't as well suited.

    I sometimes bring them to campus to get from one side to the other, do the trip, which would have taken 15mins by walking, in about 5 mins.

    Good pair of rollerblades with wheels that don't fall off?

    Your best bet is to invest in a sorta expensive pair.

    I absolutely love your mods! They look awesome. You should get a white pair and grab the Imperial issue jet pack so you can look cooler zooming on the blades. Not sure how well you'd actually get going though, because you look like you have issues with some bending and twisting in the armor, but by all means, I'd freak out and squee if I saw a storm trooper blading by and pointing at me (possibly with a wink, but how would i know? :P).

    I miss rollerblading, I haven't done that in years and years... I should go get some again, because it was fun, even when I fell down a lot (judo is good to know for this sport <.<).

They even have wheels that have flashing lights nowadays for skaters. I skated at Hyde Park, London on Sunday 2nd August. I have a pair of Roces LAX skates and nearly killed myself a few times, usually carrying too much speed in a corner and almost not making it. Once I just missed hitting a metal support pole in a parking lot. Other times it's been humps in the road, the road siding where the tar meets concrete, can be very rough and uneven. It's good fun but with ABEC 5 bearings speed builds up rapidly. Bought them about 12 years ago now, and I was totally shocked my Mom let me as it's hilly where I stay.
